Just got this on a whim from argos for £150 after I smashed my old Huawei p20. This is just as good despite that Huawei originally costing like 3x more. I never realised that budget phones had got this good and I'm really liking the large screen for watching TH-cam and such.

Something a bit odd. Huawei and Honor are supposedly split now BUT Huawei have decided to roll out EMUI 12 to quite a few of their older phones as well as more recent ones, P Smart 2019 etc AND quite a few older Honor phones as well!! Including my old 8X which is a really nice phone so I'm chuffed it's getting a new lease of life. Some of the new Honor and Huawei phones are very,very similar as well aside from the lack of Google on the Huawei version.
I agree, despite being ''separate'', they still seem very similar. It was like I was using a Huawei phone. Glad they're still rolling out some updates though!
@@ashdoestech yea but honor is not concerned by the US/Huawei feud but Honor has become an entity of its own and is no longer an unknown sub brand. It was about time for some real competition since a heavyweight like LG has been gone despite being innovative in any aspects. Let's be honest, since Huawei took a huge toll by the American administration and LG which signed it's death warrant, there was no real competition, HMD GLOBAL tried to resurrect Nokia and it didn't go that well, Oppo phones was somehow overpriced but offered decent phones, Sony and Asus ROG were also out of reach since they were more in the flagship than budget category. In the end, it were just Samsung, Motorola, Xiaomi, Poco, OnePlus and iphone
I agree, Oppo budget devices don’t seem to be the best value, unless they’re on a deal. Sonys budget and mid rangers are just naff. The last lot you mentioned are the contenders in the budget segment. I’m yet to try the magic4 lite which I’m keen to look at in the next few months 🤞. Maybe that one offers good price to performance 🤷♂️
@@ashdoestech the Magic 4 pro isn't a joke, it actually has a usb C 3.2, a huge battery, a beautiful curved screen, good cameras, Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 gen 1 5g processor, fast wireless charging and as a flagship grade phone, it comes with a massive super charger of a 100 watts. Specs are super impressive, unlike iPhones, the Honor does come standard with a power brick, all their models
I had to decide between this and the galaxy a13 as a quick budget phone buy. Went with the Samsung, currently priced at £130 whereas the Honer is priced at £160/£170
Nice, the A13 was a decent phone. You do get a bigger screen with 90hz, much better performance and faster charging with the Honor so I think the higher price is justified 😊. But the A13 is still good 👍 😁
@@ashdoestech agreed with you, the x8 is fantastic but I would expect Honor to give a minimal storage of 256 instead of 128 gb due to the lack of micro SD. Since Honor is Also Google's partner unlike Huawei, I think it will get it's android 12 in a few months
Should I choose Poco m4 pro or Honor X7? The price difference is around $50 is it worth buying this phone for $50 less or should I buy the poco m4 pro?
Does anyone know how to return the old software android 11 magic ui 4.2 to the honor x7. I did a complete reset, everything was deleted and I still have android 13 magic ui 7.1. I'm not really satisfied with the new software, so I want to return it to the factory. If anyone knows, please explain .Thanks in advance

Sadly I won’t, I’ve had to move it on to make way for new projects 😊. But regardless, it was still a great phone. Especially the camera, I thought it performed very well.

The screen and camera are better yes, but the 90hz is only on the 5G version of the A13, not the 4G version
I've had an Honor 7x for about 3 years never had any problems with it, they seem like solid phones for the price..

I am an HONOR user and I like its phones. But still putting up a display with a drop notch in 2022 has kind of disappointed me.

I'm surprised a £149 phone has 128 gigs of storage, in the past phones on that price range were usually 32 gigs.
