Just a little tip for Heidi when she is on gate duty she should always stand on the end of the gate that way there is less chance of getting hit or crushed by the gate. She is well able to hold her own with u and Des 😂.as always another great video keep in the good work Tom

Heidi the english teacher correcting Tom's Grammer. I love it.
I like Heidi, she should start doing bits on the videos, maybe just 30 seconds of what she has done and learnt that day/week or maybe she could do a section every now and then of "Heidi's Hints" where she tells us something you have shown her that is easier or better than had known before or just something she thinks might be useful for other young farmers or vets.
Also, yes please show the TB testing. Always interesting.

Very well... interesting how raising beef cattle can vary so much from place to place. Our farmland is mountainous, with many small, hilled, pastures: we raise purebred (PO) registered Tabapuã (a Brazilian breed of hornless zebu beef cattle) calves and sell them preferably before their first year of life, as repository heifers and young bulls. We make corn silage for the “winter”months, when our pasture gets dry. I can’t imagine taking cattle around in trolleys like this. This farm is absolutely enormous, so much barns, we only have one main corral. Our cattle just follow us through the road after. The bucket full of corn feed, when we change them of pasture. Despite the differences, I love seeing your videos. I had to subscribe.

Tom maybe try asking Heidi (the future vet) to give some shots to get her familiar with the process for later. Could you ask the GW how he used to remove worms from cattle? lol. I remember how we did it when there was a big bump on the hide of the cow.
Tom, watching you deworm by injection. A little tip for you (as I have to give myself insulin) if you just keep inserting the needle into the bottle and drawing the drug out, then you are creating a vacuum in the bottle which is why it seems to pull back. You will find it a lot easier if you push air into the bottle first. i.e. if you are giving the cow 2ml, the pull air into the syringe to the 2ml line, insert in the bottle and push the air in, then draw the drug to 2ml. A lot easier, especially as you have so many to do.
Thanks for the entertainment, I'm fascinated watching you. I have no connection to farming with exception that my fathe r-in-law has 15 cows as a tax thing. If he has land (60 acres in his case) and nothing on it, it is potentially open for development and highly taxed, by keeping the cows it's "agricultural" and very little tax!

I've worked with belted Galloways for almost 2 years and it was filled with miserable people tom I love u man u always have respect for ur hard workin team and u always go out of ur way to make sure everyone is safe and happy and that warms my heart u have no idea bit props too u guys for doin a job that most people can not do!

Great video Tom, just did a few of ours yesterday too.Only thing I'd point out is that it would of been much easier if all of you didn't have to walk over that gate lying on the ground in front of the race. That would really pee me off when walking up and down there. A farm job we hate doing but needed to keep a track of our weights, condition score and health of the animals. Keep the vids coming mate! Doing a top job!

Good video. I was taught to do needles in the neck muscle, to prevent bruising from needles in valuable cuts of meat(neck meat has little value, while shoulder or rump has more value).

Nice to see this kind of work on a video, it shows all the none farmers how little stress this process can be. A TB video wouldn't be bad either just to show how stupid the test itself is.

You do make it look easy.
We normally use a pour on wormer, it's more expensive but can just squirt it on their backs as they run past, no need to use cattle crush that way👍👍

Top tip pressurise the plastic bottle each time with air .. then the syringe fills itself without having to withdraw the drug ..I worked in heart surgery operating theatres..it’s really works and saves time ..?
