*That's the circle of life for farm animals.* It's all about how their treated while they're there. Your local Farmers/Cattle Ranchers usually take the best care of their animals and that's the least we can give back to these animals for what they're giving to us.

The local agricultural universities in Japan have annual fairs where they showcase their animals & have booths with fried chicken etc. nearby. Lots of kids visit and it’s a good way to grow up and know where our food actually comes from, and that it’s a normal part of life.
At the rural seafood restaurant I worked at, the chefs go around to the front and show the diners the seafood they picked out, alive, before they return to the kitchen and cook it.
Our produce often also have the farmers’ names and photos on the packaging (sometimes even their instagrams lol). Part of living in a more agriculture-centric society I suppose.
Given how “sanitized” food is in the West, your channel reminds me of those experiences & I love seeing you normalize modern farming and be direct about why you’re raising these cattle. For your local viewers it must be like a much more detailed version of having farmers’ faces on the packaging when they buy fresh food.

I live surrounded by farmland and I have a bag of nuts , I go out almost every evening in the summer and with in a week they're all running up to me for treats and licks. Any of my friends walk anywhere near me while I'm saying hello and they run a mile. The farmer asked me for help moving them a few times because they literally follow me up and down the path while I walk my dogs, who they also like to lick and play with.

I wish I had a farm like yours offering the quality of fresh raised & butchered/produced meat etc on site as well! Seeing how much you've upgraded, changed and added to the farm over the years is impressive! The animals, machines, tractors, buildings & structures and even the land/grass is so much better & more impressive since I found your channel a few years ago. Even though the highlands are stunning, somewhat friendly & a Great species to keep, they are there for a reason & purpose just like everything and one else on the farm! Wish I had a market or a farm/butcher near where I live in the new england part of the United States that offered farm to table fresh Angus etc beef, ive been dying to try the highland steaks, roast etc since seeing/hearing about it on your channel!

We tried to never name our beef cattle, it made it much harder when they went. We only ever had a small herd so we were generally much more familiar with each animal, the heifers all had names and we knew them well enough to get some of them to come and "talk", but the steers even though friendly we tried to keep them at a distance... especially when they were calves born on the farm. All gone now and I miss them so watching this is nice... don't miss the sheep though. :D

Junior lived a wonderful life and he’ll taste lovely on a plate as a result. I hope you can save his horns and hide; the hide would make a beautiful rug or blanket. This is why beef stock aren’t pets (barring good breeders like the Lord, and even he’s a working animal and unpredictable because he’s a bull). If you want to make a pet out of a beef breed, a female is a better choice because she can be predictable and sociable but also work to earn her keep.
A few questions: What part of the food chain do your dairy bulls go to? I’m assuming their meat isn’t as tasty so maybe the pet food industry? Do you know anyone who raises cattle for pulling carts, and if so, would highlands be a good choice for that kind of niche/novelty work? What is your favorite breed of beef for taste?
