- SHERLOCK HOLMES: The Hound of the Baskervilles - FULL AudioBook by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle (1859 - 1930) | Greatest AudioBooks - The Hound of the Baskervilles is the third of the four crime novels written by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle featuring the detective Sherlock Holmes. Originally serialised in The Strand Magazine from August 1901 to April 1902, it is set largely on Dartmoor in Devon in England's West Country and tells the story of an attempted murder inspired by the legend of a fearsome, diabolical hound of supernatural origin. Sherlock Holmes and his companion Dr. Watson investigate the case. This was the first appearance of Holmes since his intended death in "The Final Problem", and the success of The Hound of the Baskervilles led to the character's eventual revival.

The changes in accents and tones make this reading an absolute delight!
Thank you for a very fine reading of this Holmes classic, I can't help but think even Mr. Doyle would even approve of... It kept me entranced for the full 6 hours and 10 minutes... YOU sir, have a wonderful voice and the use of that voice to make this a story that you literally brought to life on the movie screen of my mind... BRAVO!
The way he voiced each character was FANTASTIC!
In the 7th grade i had to do a book report I picked this book and became a lifelong fan of Mr Holmes
Dude this was a life saver for English
Me too. So much homework 😷
GhastsStudio SAME

GhastsStudio SAME

The way to the winding trails of my dreams...and thoughtful thoughts and thinking without even knowing so. Giving the spirit a place to go without a thought, a place where every story and mystery, all coming without thought.
excellent job the narrator has done best one I've heard yet .Amazing how he kept true to each accent throughout the story down to the German inn keeper speaking English with a German accent well done
You could search him on librivox.org
(The real origin of this recording)
Perhaps he has done more
Thank you so much David Clarke.
Thank you. I'm not well and hearing this story read to me and for me really helps me cope. Bless you and yours. x
Thank you for the wonderful work that you are doing. Hearing, like the sense of smell, is fast becoming a repressed sense. People do not listen any more. We just want to see. In such a scenario, audiobooks are just the thing we need. The rendition is superb. Better than listening to a play. Thanks again.
Little joys of life- reading the story before watching the show
Thank you! This is my handbook and it helps me learn and improve my English. I wonder who puts the dislikes? You do not like Conan Doyle?
Thank you Mr. Clark!! Absolutely delightful reading! I have thoroughly enjoyed all the Sherlock Holmes stories you have lend your wonderful talent to! Many thanks to you sir!!

This narrator, David Clark, is the best voice of them all.
Um, that would be Timson, David.

Perfect!!!! Thanks you very much.
great audio book I like the readers voice he is easy to listen to👍
Excellent Libra Vox recording! Thank you am using it with my Grade 9 English students in London, ON. But as others have mentioned, sadly yes, most if not all the times stamps are off. Will try to go through again and note all the time stamps so that they line up with the reading.
However I can tell you that Chapter 5 starts at 1:25:11. : )
ArchAingeal Thank you, I now realize I wasn't reading the info correctly - makes more sense! Since my future students and I will be reading this I will indicate the other time stamps for those reading on their own certain chapters then listening to it or all of us listening to it together. Truly an excellent ressource!!!
Love it omg absolutely love the voice it’s perfect I enjoy it now finally!!!! ❤️❤️❤️

I Hate Reading book, great to listen to audio books. Thanks
Our chainsmoking drama Boi is back
Bro can you give me the meaning of the following lines from SHERLOCK HOLMES: The Hound of the Baskervilles:
1. Interesting, though elementary
2. I trust that there is nothing of consequence which I have overlooked?
3. Do none suggest themselves?
4. This, in truth, his neighbors might have pardoned, seeing that saints have never flourished in those parts, but there was in him a certain wanton and cruel humor which made his name a byword through the West
5. If, indeed, so dark a passion may be known under so bright a name
6. He cried aloud before all the company that he would that very night render his body and soul to the Powers of Evil if he might but overtake the wench.
Joseph Samuel the 1st line means that it is interesting but simple
If you still need the meanings, here they are:
1. Interesting but simple (as Kiwi said).
2. Have I missed something important?
3. Are there no obvious answers? or Can you think of anything?
4. The neighbors could have ignored him, but he was such an ass that they couldn't.
5. ...if such a bad thing could be called such a nice name.
6. He yelled that he would give anything to catch the woman.
Hope this helps.
Lol It is your boi Oliver here!
New look
Well buddy the audiobook is 6 Hours long and your trying to tell me that the last chapter is 30 minutes in? Like what did he do for the rest of the 5:30 hours tickle his armpit?!? (if you don't get the joke look at the timestamps in the description)
It's the length of the chapter in minutes and seconds not the timestamp in the video.
They are not timestamps
1:35:01
Chapter 3 40:10
Chapter 4: 59:43
If you're also into contemporary detective fiction you might be interested in an unusual mystery crime story I've written, entitled HAZARD ON THE LOOSE - which can be found in a volume of my stories entitled SEVEN TALL TALES; available at Amazon as a book or kindle. It concerns a businessman, by the name of Jack Hazard, who breaks out of jail, with outside help, after serving five years of a fifteen year sentence. He had already promised to murder the
four executives that he claimed had deliberately framed him up and saw him sentenced on entirely trumped up charges. One by one they are tracked down and murdered; until only two of the four remain. One of the remaining two hires the services of two private detectives, to add to the police protection he has already. Though it is assumed by most people that Hazard is the murderer the private detectives voice their doubts about this and reason that Hazard would be far too focused on keeping a low profile and avoiding recapture - as a large police force is dedicated to that purpose - to pursue some bizarre revenge vendetta. Will events prove them right? But if it isn't Hazard, then who is the actual killer? Could you guess? Happy
listening, and reading.

weird that he changed Sir Henry's voice from mild to gruff & raspy.
The reader sounds like Jonathan Agnew.
