Thanks for stopping by on the channel, Outdoors with the Clines. I'm the older feller on the channel the father in law. It's great to see the new channels grow, there's a wealth of information on TH-cam and something for everyone to enjoy.
John thanks for taking us along for the day. Nice looking firewood trees. Some days go better than others, as long as you can walk out of the woods on your own it's a good day 👍.
That's some beautiful looking wood there John, I'm looking forward to watching it get split when the time comes. Thanks for the video, And stay safe out there.
If you make your face cut shallower then your timber will jump off the stump a lot better. No need to go any deeper than 1/3 the way into the tree. That 066 and long bar make my back hurt just watching you carry it. There is truly such a thing as lugging too much bar around the woods. Take care and be careful. 👍
I have a 36"Tsumura light bar on my 661 and it transforms the saw and makes it as handy as if it had a 24 inch one on there . the 36" Stihl rolomatic bar is now just for use in the Alaskan mill. Get one and you won't look back
Hello from northern Canada :) new sub: John the feller you be safe out there, those Oak are a little bigger than most I fall, I'm a bit of a Rambo in the bush but you always have to watch out for those falling branches and tops that break,
Hey John, Sometimes when tree's get hung up in the tops, falling another tree into it will take them all the way down, and sometimes the wind will finish them off as well.👍 That 66 sounds brand new, looks new also. Great wood for the fire next year..:-)
hi there i was thinking about that . but decided not to . 1 that tree can reach the building . 2 i would have to be right under the 1/2 down tree and it has a lot if big dead limbs . . 3 its alive . . stay tune it will come down . john
Hey buddy FYI: a 25" bar should be saficiant for the timber that you are cutting. I have been logging for 38 years, thought I'd share that with you. Stay safe out there!
John.....a bit of help for you maybe on the "wedge" cut. usually 1/3rd cut of the diameter of the tree. Then reverse the cuts your making on the "wedge". Leave the "wedge" to the bottom. I think they call that a Humbolt hinge. not sure about all the different names in different parts of the country. this prevents the tree from rocking back into the cut.....or maybe saying it another way....slows the fall. it is plain to see that saw/bar combination is a bit more then you should be using on that incline your working. 24/28 inch bar would be a great plenty. John, please don't get me wrong here, i don't know it all. only been working in the woods about 50 years, am now 70 and i still run the husky 372 with a 24 inch bar. cant run it all day anymore. only cut about 6 hours and am done. when your running that saw or any for that matter, keep them "R"'s up on it so it doesn't bog on you. helps to run a skip tooth on the longer bars as well. i would also highly recommend the light weight bars as with the 36 inch your bar weight on the lightweight will run at 2/3lbs.Try your hinge cut in the reverse and think you will have a much better result in control of where that tree goes. good luck, stay safe and keep cutting.
Thanks for posting these videos. You might consider backing the camera a little farther away from where you are working so we can see the tree and the direction of fall a little better.
Nice video on real cutting . I’m no expert feller but I usually cut my face about 1/3 of the way in & wider so the tree don’t fall on itself so quickly . Hard learners a shallow cut face is better . But hey whatever works for ya .
Get a 28" Light Sughi Harra Bar on a Stihl 046 size power head. Cut bottom cut of your face cut lower so your birdsmouth does not close up & stop tree from falling. Check with Tuber / Nuts 319- he makes a living using sughi Harra bars
I think you need to pay more attention to the dead limbs on the tree your cutting - I always make sure I'm not under one just in case the vibration of cutting it makes a limb come down - cutting live trees is a lot easier than the dead ones - sometimes when I'm cutting I'm looking up at the dead limbs
hi there i look at them a whole lot , if they look real bad i pull the tree over , had a relative killed a year ago from a falling branch . and i was careful before that .thanks for watching an leaving a comment , best to everyone ,thank you john
@@fricknjeep yes sir I drove skidder for over 10 years before I started running headsaw. Some trees just don’t come down like you want It’s a dangerous job cutting trees even for someone with 40 year experience
hi there i cut them at a comfortable height, then cut the stump off at as close to the ground as i can , that way easier for me to cut and get the maximum wood from the tree , thanks for dropping in john
I just asked what saw that was in the last movie I watched....I guessed it almost right. Is the 066 newer or older than the 660 ? I run a 30'' bar on mine and only break it out when its really needed. I get tired throwing that thing around. I guess you could call the first two trees real 'cliffhangers'. That hill is almost steep enough to be a cliff and they are still hanging !! LOL That's ok, it happens to us all. Good job ol buddy !!
I'm 67 yrs old, and if I had seen you trying to fell trees like this, I would have stopped you. Man, you are dangerous. Please ask someone to teach you the proper way of using a chainsaw, especially with a 36 inch bar.
You are a good guy I can tell stay safe
thanks again john
