    The songs on this album are the greatest rock songs and greatest rock recordings of all time. That amazingly no one has heard of. There are no peers and no comparables to this.
    A lifetime later, and a thousand bands and songs and genres and decades, it still remains the best album I've ever heard.

    Dreamer is such a simple song but Rob's performance and Glenn's fabulous solo really elevates it. It's also one of the few Priest tracks where bassist Ian Hill gets to stretch out a bit. Really deep lyrics on this one as well. Then you have Deceiver which flat out rocks. From one musician to another, it's great to see you apply your musical ear to this in such an open minded way. Especially since this is the first time. Well done as always Good Sir. Try the studio version of Exciter if you get around to it. For 1978 that song was simply off the hook. Cheers!

    Just imagine for a moment a pimple faced nerdy 11th grader back in 1977 asking a high school friend to take me to a record store to buy my first two albums ever to start my musical journey. I remember like it was yesterday. Asked him which two albums I should start with. His choices were Sad Wings Of Destiny and All The World's A Stage. Not bad at all. I still have my hundreds of albums with me to this day and my musician now adult son will get them when I pack it in from this life. 74'-84' out. Cheers

    imagine listing to this in 1976 like I did. Charts full of disco and glam rock. Punk just starting to make an impact.

  • @rodneybrimer5171
    @rodneybrimer5171 ปีที่แล้ว

    Their music from the 1970’s has a different sound. This was when classic rock was still big and Disco and Punk were becoming a force. Priest had a stand alone style and were climbing up slowly. By 1980 they look and sound was ready to take on all the world. Screaming for Vengeance was my introduction to the band in 1982. I was 13 and they have been my fav band ever since. I always viewed Rob’s vocals as a weapon that added so much to the music.Priest rules!

  • @elvwood

    Possibly my favourite Judas Priest song (songs?) - I can't help being wowed every time by the range Rob shows here, and I love the overall sound of the band.
    If you are going forward album by album, my selections would be Diamonds and Rust (Sin After Sin), Beyond the Realms of Death (Stained Class), Before the Dawn (Killing Machine), Exciter (Unleashed in the East), Metal Gods (British Steel). But there's very little dross on any of those albums.

    I saw three tours of these guys in the early to mid eighties and they are mind blowing live. I think Priest can lay claim to purifying metal by taking the blues right out of it . Rob Halford aka "metal god". I always hear the bass and drums on top of everything . Being a player the lyrics are kind of an after thought . Lol

  • @elarsh24

    In 1976, lyrics were not always on the liner or the back of the album cover, nor was there such thing as Google to search for them. If it sounds good, you will listen to it again, and maybe then, after playing and rewinding over and over, you might have what you think are the lyrics copied down.

    Keep with the early era priest, it's more musically talented... Ripper. Saints in Hell. Sinner. Starbreaker. Cheater. Better by you better than me. Beyond the realms of death. Among other great songs from that era. Then continue your priest journey up thru the years. Some other great songs are... Livin after midnight. Breaking the law. Take on the world. Hell bent for leather. Fever. Hellion/ Electric eye. You got another thing coming. Rock hard ride free. Some heads are gonna roll. Heavy duty. Reckless.
    Heaps more great songs on through those eras too. Too many more to mention.
    Dig in, youlle be addicted for life.
