Every once in a while, I am moved to tears by a vocal performance. When Halford begins to wail “I can’t go on,” it had me tearing up with the sheer emotion that he is forcing through his voice. Absolutely breathtaking….
i posted the link for dreamer deceiver, help me get more likes on it and maybe he'll listen to it or at least copy the link and post it in all his vid comments
This is my favorite Priest song. It is so powerful and you said it... "they don't make music like this any more"... NOBODY makes music like this. No person in their right mind with any credibility can claim Rob Halford cannot sing.
“VICTIM OF CHANGES” from their Sad Wings of Destiny album REALLY changed my idea of who Judas Priest is. Absolutely EPIC song and album to be honest. Great reaction, T! I'm so glad that you're on board the Judas Priest train. Buckle up!! Lol
Judas Priest had written songs w/ founding vocalist Al Atkins before he quit in '73... Rob Halford sung them on the first 2 Priest albums in '74 - '76. At that time, K. K. Downing wrote a lot of the music, but after Glenn Tipton joined in '74, he became the band's de facto leader and chief songwriter w/ Downing & Halford. There was some confusion as to Judas Priest's musical direction in '74... they didn't want to copy Black Sabbath or Led Zeppelin... but it was the 2nd album 'Sad wings of destiny' that gave them some identity. It was done on a tiny UK label Gull Records, while the band was broke. When they signed to a major label in '77, u can hear the sonic upgrade w/ the 3rd album 'Sin after sin' w/ drummer Simon Phillips taking the Priest twin guitar attack to perfection... particularly the songs 'Sinner' and 'Let us prey'🔥🔥🔥 Personally, the '78 album 'Stained class' was the record Judas Priest delivered metal of the top calibre...
This song features the highest note hit by Rob (then known as "Bob") Halford on any Priest studio recording. Rocka Rolla remains in my top 3 all-time Priest albums!
Priest always evolves. Listen to their new stuff “Firepower”, but the 70s are the best imo Stained class, Sin after Sin, and Sad Wings of Destiny are perfect albums
The long guitar riff was so many different scale patterns it taught so many to play lead, thus, you got 15 million fingers learning how to play, so with all the music with guitars, you can hear their fingers picking, YES
Here we have a a masterpiece back from the days when Judas Priest had integrity in their music. They lost their way from British steel on. They were never able to regain their ability to write epic masterpieces like this song and Dreamer Deceiver
I was 9 in 1974 when my older brother introduced me to Judas Priest. Still have all my JP vinyls from the 70s. Still know all the lyrics by heart 😂 Love your reaction ❤️
Kind of reminds me of a mixture between folk music and blues very lovely and melodic Rob Halford has an amazing singing voice probably why he’s the metal God
FUCK MEE!! I am a 60 year old English judas priest fan from London and I remember when this came out in 1974 and thinking "I have to go and see this band!!" which I did in 1980 at the first ever "monsters of rock" festival in 1980 when they were no. 2 to Richie blackmores rainbow the priest absolutely stole the show (even the great man himself Richie admitted it) and they're classic album British Steel had just come out...FUCKIN ELL!! what a GREAT show they gave on that Sunday night and that really catapulted them to to FAME and STARDOM (rightly so!!)...if you fink the Priest r just a shout screamy metal band?! ohh no!! Listen to their first couple of albums and I fink u will be pleasantly surprised with classic tracks like "run of the mill" and "dreamer deceiver/deceiver and u will be pleasantly surprised!! long live the PRIEST!!,all the best from CHOPPER,Peckham,S.E.London.
It's funny how you know the newer stuff and then listen to the old and get blown away. The older timers had it in reverse, the first 4 albums were a progression of this and then Killing Machine came out and this was the transition from this to the new and it was mind blowing, it was the start of high energy metal. They have like 160 songs, I like about 150, I can't say that for anyone else.
This track and Winter/Deep Freeze, man. This shit is psychedelic. Here Come the Tears off of Sin After Sin is another Halford mindblowing vocal performance.
You ought to check out Tyrant, Victim Of Changes, Sinner, Dissident Agressor, Delivering The Goods, Saints In Hell, Better By You, Beyond The Realms Of Death, Exciter, Cheater
You can really appreciate Halfords vocal range on early Priest. He had a sweeter quality to his voice. Before the band went in a more metal direction and he screamed a lot more. He sang more in the middle and hit the high notes just for spice.
Suggestions: JP: Victim of Changes ( Studio), Deceiver, Tyrant, Here comes the tears, Beyond the Realms of Death, The Rage, Dying to meet you, Dissident Aggressor, Firepower, Angel / Halford, Fight: Life in Black, Silent Screams, Till the day I die, O Holy Night, Nostradamus, Pestilence and Plague, ….
People can have their personal favorites, but once you listen to JPs total catalog, you understand that they are objectively the greatest heavy metal band ever.
Their early stuff was more " Gothic " , and miserable , more diverse as well . A lot of dynamics Its metal , but they re from the 1st wave You have the roots of it which is a wide range of influences . Rocka rolla came in 1974 , but this song , as others songs , its 1971 , it was one of the first entirely composed song by KK . Before Rob came in , before Glenn came in . Rob is like 23 years old , well , 22 , maybe , on this recording .

Yeah, that first album is just straight-up 70's hard rock. Almost unrecognizable. An album tailored for the vocals of their original singer Al Atkins. 'Sad Wings of Destiny' is considered by many as their true debut album. But yeah, 70's Priest is a goldmine of excellent music. There's a sizable amount of Priest fans that consider it their best era. More 70's era requests: "Saints in Hell", "Dreamer /Deceiver and Deceiver", "Sinner", "Dissident Aggressor" (arguably invented Thrash)
Anyone who would suggest that Rob Halford can't sing knows very little about him, the band, and their history. Rob Halford is hovering around 70 yrs old now. If you're going to rate him, rate him in his prime! It is common knowledge that the big three metal singers of all time are Ronnie James Dio, Rob Halford and Bruce Dickenson .. you could put them in any order and you would still be correct .. but when it comes to versatility and vocal range, Halford was cream of the crop, and it ain't even close!

Judas Priest is one of my top favorite bands of all time. You are missing so much if you have only really heard stuff from PainKiller onward. Sad Wings of Destiny is in my opinion their best album. Though I absolutely love Painkiller. You should react to Prelude-Tyrant, Victim of Changes, Dreamer Deceiver/Deceiver and Island of Domination. Great reaction as always. Peace and love brother.

Dreamer Deceiver/ Deceiver off of SWOD album must be listened together as one song in my opinion. There's actually a live video of it from very early Priest.
Judas Priest is similar to the Scorpions. They go so far back that their first albums have a psychodelic rock/Jimi Hendrix vibe. Same as UFO's first two albums. Almost sound like different bands.
Nice! Sad Wings of Destiny is one of the first real heavy metal albums. Victim of Changes is a must! So many great live versions of this song, but Unleashed in the East has a great version.
In the early days they also did two of the greatest cover songs of all time; Diamonds and Rust and The Green Manalishi...really, it's hard to go wrong with Priest...well, maybe Ram It Down...
Beyond the realms of death ...1978....an epic power ballad With 2 different guitar solos....studio ver. Please... It is a must in anyones catalog!!!!!!!!!!
I like this song sice being 16 now I'm 33 and it's still amazing. After listening it a lot you really get to appreciate the bass, guitars, drums, lyrics..
I bought this record on ebay, limited edition early 70's on orange acrylic vinyl with the rare cyborg/bomber coverart because of this song. Judas Priest is my fav band of all time! Been listening to this since 1986 and I'm born in 1986.
I just turned 60 and listening to this one nowadays hits me a whole lot differently than it did when I was 13!
Anyone that's ever said Rob can't sing is obviously insane, there is no one ever that could sing like him.
This is one of my favorite Priest songs of all time. When I was a disgruntled teen this song and message spoke to me. Still does
Same
You bet, life changing album.
Yep
Same
Same...
OMG, someone reacted to my *favorite* Priest song! Thank you!
criminally underrated song.
I play it for my 85-year-old mom- she remembers when I was a teen with wall-to-wall JP posters- she said it's beautiful!
As I get older , this track makes me think 🤔, what have I done with my life, and where has time gone.
Exactly 💯
Last Rose Of Summer from Sin After Sin album, another excellent ballad of theirs.
Every once in a while, I am moved to tears by a vocal performance. When Halford begins to wail “I can’t go on,” it had me tearing up with the sheer emotion that he is forcing through his voice. Absolutely breathtaking….
I feel the same way.
Ditto. His ballad songs are epic masterpieces.
Hey man, check out dreamer/deceiver from sad wings of destiny album and really get a good taste of Rob at his best!! He is the metal god!!🤘🎸🤘
Finally some 70s Priest. Dreamer Deceiver and Victim of Changes should make you a believer.

Some of the best drum sounds ever recorded on this album
It was from their first album. It has been my favorite since I heard it 43 years ago.

R.I.P. to the drummer here, John Hinch... who player on Priest's debut album 'Rocka rolla' before he was fired in '75.
And here he shows what a great drummer he was
Another melancholic, dark song fro mthem and hugely underrated is Here Come The tears fom their thrid album in 1977
Here comes the Tears Is EASILY top 3 by Priest
Yeah great song from my fave album from them
Superb. Diamonds and Rust is an oldie but goodie too.
And "Dreamer/Deceiver"
Oh, ya...& pair it with "Dissident Aggressor"...absolutely *killer!*
Might be their best song
The recording equipment has a lot to do with the sound. Thanks for your reactions. One of the Best!
My entire life has been driven by this song.
Love listening to this song during winter season.
Never thought about it until just now. This rocks bangs.
Run of the Mill? You're going deep! Thank you.
Makes me cry every time.
My fave priest song ....
Love this album 💿 I grew up ⬆️ in the 70s and 80s this album 💿 is epic

Halford is a singer in the truest sense of the word.
Dreamer Deceiver / Deceiver from Sad Wings Of Destiny album to hear Rob’s full range and layered harmonies.
I just commented the same thing and then noticed your comment from a year previously. 👍 🔥 Song

Priest is truly one of those iconic bands that can literally change your mindset mood outlook and demeanor, all for the best. KILLED IT
Love the 70s era of Priest. Sometimes wish they would go back to there roots.
