      You can get smaller Mondaines. I prefer a smaller watch, but these are just perfection. You don't wear a Mondaine to show off - just cos of its beauty!

    Very cool! My first watch was a Mondaine and have always liked the design and story behind it. Unfortunately it broke when I cycled through heavy rain. Might have to look at this one some time in the future. Hopefully, as others have mentioned, they will have released a 38 mm version of it by then.

    I really like the idea of a fuctional tool watch in quite a size. It's like a flieger type watch. It's purpose is to show time clearly and visibly and I think that size helps with it.

    Love these. I have a 30 watch collection and the only watch I have multiples of is the Mondaine. My 1st automatic watch was a Mondaine and I bought the stop2go to match later. I even bought one for my wife who couldn't care less about watches, now she wears it every day.

    It's way too expensive for what it does and yes, I say that only because of my own financial situation. If you love the behavior of the hands, you can try to get a used DB watch from the past, they also had the stop2go technology and I guess this is a lot cheaper. Check the video titled 'DB Armbanduhr "Bahnhof" Stop2Go'.

    love the novelty of this watch. 41mm is too big for my female wrist and i'd have nearly 1cm of overhung lugs. so many watches that interest me simply don't have offers in my size.

  • @ElijsDima
    @ElijsDima 5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    .... Okay, I gotta hand it to you guys. Before this video, I was dismissing this as a "fashion watch", but... it does look reasonably well built, and when seen on wrist from a distance, it looks *good* . Stark, sure, but kinda cool.

    I don't understand how the stop2Go function is useful in any real meaningful way. They seems to on purpose made the watch 2 seconds faster and then readjust the error at the end of every minute. Can anyone explain to me how is it logical to have a second hand on a watch when there is no way to time anything to the nearest second? Why didn't they just make a jump minute hand watch with or without a normal accurate second hand?

    • @fredriklundh7649
      @fredriklundh7649 5 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      There is no meaningful use of this function on a wrist watch. On rail station clocks however, this function is used to synchronize multiple clock against one master clock. The problem is that no mater how advanced (expensive) you make the clocks you will never manage to get all the clocks on the station, let alone the country, to stay synchronized for long. So the way pretty much all rail station clocks work, all over the world - not only in Switzerland, is that they are driven by a cheap AC-motor with a gearing to match the local power-line frequency. Except the gears are actually made to run the clock slightly fast, about 2 seconds fast per minute. Once the second hand reaches the full minute it stops. Every 60 seconds the central master clock sends out a pulse starting all the clocks at the same time. Thus keeping a bunch of fairly cheap clock always in sync.

    • @fattyacid1901
      @fattyacid1901 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Fredrik Lundh Thank you for the in-depth explanation. It makes a lot more sense when you understand the limitations they are working with. Too bad the stop2go is just an imitation of a very “inaccurate” system. I don’t think my OCD can accept a watch that gain 2 second per minute even if it adjust itself every minute.
      It will be very cool and make a lot more sense if Mundaine can make the stop2go a radio controlled watch though.

    • @notsoancientpelican

      Fatty Acid I agree. It’s a needless complication that ironically skews the whole concept of accurate time measurement. Bauhaus is all about simplicity, clearness, refinement and elimination of the superfluous-those are the hallmarks of all good engineering.

    • @DazrahT
      @DazrahT 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I have one of the original batches of the Stop2Go watch (without the lume under the hands). The hands do line up properly if it's set it properly, which the person who made this video didn't do! If you pull out the crown into set mode, you can either get it to spin the minute hand round the dial to approx the correct minute, then you apply less turning pressure on the crown to nudge and gently moving the minute hand so it lines up correctly.
