Not really sure how the album “isn’t cohesive” It literally is all based around concepts of time. From the intro track “years go by” until the end track “next to you” where he’s talking about he doesn’t care how long it takes until he gets to be next to that certain person, but he’s willing to wait. TRAPSOUL was not as cohesive as this project. You have tracks like “ten nine fourteen”, “502 come up” and “rambo” that all aren’t really on the same subject matter as the rest of the song on there.
And Yk what bro. After having the record for a while, I can see where you’re coming from, however to me 502 & Rambo added to the record and just the aesthetic of Trapsoul was better than what anniversary had to offer IMO, but THANKS FOR WATCHING ‼️. MORE CONTENT OTW 🤎. Peace and love to you.
You are right he actually went back and took the songs that didn’t make trapsoul and spiced them up a bit.He’s releasing an album in the winter called Serenity.A lot of Bryson Tiller fans were disappointed with True to Self because it didn’t sound like Trapsoul or sound like the original Bryson Tiller they were introduced to.So he took his time whether it be 5 years or 3 years.Over the years some of his producers leaked a lot of his music so those songs would have probably been on Anniversary.He took his time with Serenity.To be honest I’m not sure if he intended to put this one out but he didn’t want his fans to forget them plus the fact he mentioned that he has two album left on his deal.I love this album and Serenity will be the top tier project
I mean all these songs literally sound like they were just thrown together. I get how you want to commemorate “Trapsoul” but tbh it happened make something new and have a NEW moment you feel me. And btw “Anniversary” isn’t even “bad”, it’s just You have to compare it to TRAPSOUL and it’s nowhere near that so why even put it out 💀💀. Serenity, his real 3rd album will most likely be good though. Thanks for watching 🤟🏾
Personally, I think True to Self is a good album. It just didn’t have the Impact that TRAPSOUL had. I really don’t go back to TTS often I mean it has some joints on there like Set it off and something tells me which are some of Bryson’s best songs but it didn’t really push any boundaries it was just a R&B album whereas TRAPSOUL was something fresh and something new (even though it was heavily inspired by Drake and Kanye) but in short true to self is a good album that I don’t find myself going back to, it definitely doesn’t deserve the slander it gets IMO.
FAYGOS I completely agree.I bought True To Self when it first came out and I didn’t understand all the hate it got.It was a solid album.It must be tough being in his position to continue exploring different sound or using the same blue print.Maybe that’s why the album cover shows him looking the opposite way of Trapsoul cover because in the next album he’s going a another direction but that it will be good one
Bryson gave y'all Trapsoul and then people starting putting his other works on a platform comparing and then when he came out with TTS Y'all hated on him n called it trash n he comes back n gives something similar to TS and y'all say it's typical.
This was a GR8 Album it has a nostalgic roots where Bryson pick up where we left off & i enjoy the albums over all. I'm excited to see where the future holds 4 Bryson & i love the in depth review what Zo said R&B Rhythm & Blues of great instrumental we enjoy about the music. 🙊✊✌🌎🍁
Nah this was the reqlest review, people / fans are so caught up on trapsoul they biases wont except brysons failure on this album and I'm a big supporter of his music
Keep doing what you doing hit different 🔥
Bryson = GOAT

No one's gonna talk about the vocal variation on Next to You?
