      We Australians are so amused by how Americans get so paranoid about little things, like Spiders and Snakes - Yeah, Australia has them, but half the adult population has probably never seen a Taipan snake, or could identify a redback (even with the obvious colouring) - you respect them, they respect you, and they all tend to avoid people. - This is from the America that has Several Brands of Bears, Wolves, Coyotes, RattleSnakes, Skunks, New York Rats (who make ratty look like a Mouse), not to Mention the obscene number of personal pets such as Tigers and Lions that have been removed from their natural habitat...
      Shorts are actually more sensible in critter country - if you are wearing longer pants and feel a bite inside, it is unnecessary time wastage, taking your pants off to find the bite or the offender. And finding a snake that deep in Sydney's suburbia - the closest snakes around there will be at Taronga Park Zoo.

    • @catfishcave379
      @catfishcave379 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@pquodling I am glad we can be amusing at times. That’s much better than the laughingstocks we’ve been for four years.
      While I regularly see coyotes, skunks and garter snakes in my yard, it’s the black widows that scare me. I don’t like spiders. As for Big Cats as pets (and recent ones that have got out), I agree that even one being kept as a pet is obscene, especially given the high percentage that are kept in deplorable conditions. We are trying to pass legislation, but politicians are stubborn and the public ignorant.

    • @AuMechanic
      @AuMechanic 3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Guessing the pipe will be re-routed.
      Dropping that tree would possibly cost more in that location, few drops zones and nowhere to get a crane in or tree out puts that tree at about 2k+ to remove.
      Then you need to grind the stump out and to get my small stump machine down there id put 600 min on that job adding to the cost even more.
      And I'm betting the local council would be less than likely to issue a permit for the tree removal in an area like that.

    I love how Australians will just build houses anywhere. On the side of a steep hill? No problem. Could have done with a machete on this job.

      With Sydney real estate prices - that looks like Mosman - harbour views and a boat house (even accessible by escalator) will set you back $6-8M easily.

      @@pquodling Yeah. I figured the lake and the boathouse must have made it worth it. Pretty cool really. And they can fit pools on those types of properties too. Mad.

    If it wasn't for the escalator, you'd be exhausted after your 2nd trip up the hill. Holy bleepers that was a long ways down there. Hoping your shower felt refreshing, after all the monkey work. Monkey work: climbing up and down small cliffs before you find a set of steps.. lol!!! Have a wonderful week!!!

    When half the Continent is inhospitable Outback, it's no wonder Aussies build houses everywhere they can in the livable areas even on hillsides like this.
    Beautiful property and view, but it looks to be a nightmare to maintain though.
    This job took more effort just getting to and from the work area (multiple times) than it did doing the actual work.
    Thanks for taking us on this adventure with you Ollie.

    My god. I hope the property owner appreciated the work and the patience Ollie had with this job. This ain’t no ordinary plumbing job and a job where so many things went against Ollie. And I hope the owner was more than considerate with his bill payment. I would have charged like a wounded bull. So many others would not have taken on the job. Well done Ollie. Glad Croc and Rattie were with you.
