I quite enjoyed the Double Dragon movie myself, I didn't grow up playing the original games so I didn't get that wounded sense of betrayal that others did.
plenty of journalists are fine with shorter games as well. though speaking as someone who isn't in a relationship and does not have family of my own I quite enjoy longer games.

The more I listened to your description, the more I loved the idea of Double Dragon IV. I want to live in a world where companies can release direct sequels to classic NES games using similar sprites with updated backround art for more powerful systems, all for a few bucks.
Sure if they want to charge 20-30 bucks, then put out a game that improves on Double Dragon Neo, but for a few bucks give me Zelda III, Donkey Kong IV, Double Dragon IV, etc.

Double dragon advanced for the GBA was the pentacle of the series. It's a solid upgrade to the orginal game.
It's much better than NEO·GEO's Double Dragon, an SFII knock-off.
This was one of the first arcade games I ever played bitd. It was definitely the first beat em up I played.
It's in my top 5 goat list.
But it's only recently that I discovered they made a double dragon film in the 90s. It's actually free to watch on TH-cam. You can't take it too seriously. but if you like some good old 90s cheese, then it's a really fun watch.

With Double Dragon V being based on the Cartoon show….I always wondered why they didn’t put in some of the Dragon Warriors, like Turbo and Tsunami.
I could not watch it all in one sitting. The reason being that your passion for the series reminded me of how wonderful Double Dragon is and I kept having to stop watching so I could play some of the games! Double Dragon has a special place in my heart as the original NES release was the first game I ever rented. Wonderful job sir! I always enjoy your content!

Double Dragon II is one of the most memorable games for me growing up with the NES! There was just something about it oddly enough.

@@igorlins8194 That is a fine suggestion, and I didn't watch it, but I think content creators should know that this sort of content isn't necessarily what at least some viewers may actually like or appreciate, and this sort of input may be able to help them, because they may be able to do just as well while saving themselves the time and trouble by creating better ondensed products for easier consumption by viewers like myself.

My god do I love this franchise. I'm surprised double dragon was never brought back as a true classic 1v1 fighting game. Go all out give it a nice offline campaign. People would try it.
Awesome vid sir! I'm still upset over that Zeebo one I'll never play! It looked soooooo goooood! As far as franchises to cover I think Fire Emblem has had so many games and significant character appearances that would make good for the Top Hat Gaming Man video treatment.
I never encountered a DD arcade game where I lived so I only experienced the NES versions as a kid. I was born in 81, so you think I'd have seen one, but nope, never did. Wasn't keen on a 3D beat em up, so Streets of Rage 4 and Rivercity Girls were far more my jam than the recent Double Dragons.
I love your rant about people who just want short games and who don't want to just play super-long games. Considering how I just sold off Persona 5 after only playing 10 hours and getting through one Palace, I think I agree with you: I have a life and can't just spend all my time and focus on video games, so something that's short and fun is just for me. (BTW: saw the new Double Dragon review and after watching that and the Zeebo retrospective by Stop Skeletons from Fighting, I want to see Saber in that game)

It pains me how I have never encountered a Double Dragon or beat em up that picked up on the bones of Return of Double Dragon and fleshed it out better. I used to always put myself on the second player port to play as Jimmy.
Whoever is playing as Billy in this footage sure does love those shoulder buttons.
Super Double Dragon is a staple to my childhood.. one of my favorite coops that I played with my cousins... to learn in my later years that it was basically 50% of the intended finished product was mind blowing...... my inner child was hit with so many mixed emotions.. DD2 was my introduction to these games and we actually managed to finish it on supreme master without game genie...

Love it, but Kung-Fu Master / Kung-Fu / Spartan X is a take on the Jackie Chan film, the video game version of Wheels on Meals.
Jackie Chan is Thomas and Lola Forner is Sylvia. Just a bit of trivia, I thought would have made it in this great documentary.
would definitely love to see Arc Sys bring back Double Dragon knowing that they own DD and the Kunio kun series.
I never had the skills or the quarters to be able to get passed the second level in any double dragon games as a kid
You should do a Video on Double Dragon 2 on Gameboy. The game is unique and also has an interesting back story since it is orignally a Kunio Kun game in Japan. However great work! Subbed and liked.

Urban champion was a awesome game! I played it back in 89 when I was 9
I remember double dragon 1 was just so slooooooooooow. When you play it on the emulator, there's some hack that makes it run at normal speed and the game is CRAZY.
Super Double Dragon and Return of Double Dragon are my favorite beat'em ups, near Turtles in Time SNES and Shredder's Revenge. My only big issue with Super Double Dragon/Return is the pace is kind of slow.
I remember when double dragon advance came out. I preordered 2 copies to play with others. And game informer magazine gave the game a 9!!!🤯

It's been a long time and I mean that, i actually owned a console back then and had a few games, not as much as few other friends on the same street, not many of us rich or poor had consoles as the typical thought back then was consoles will mess with our eyes and brain's so many didn't own a console and just played at a friends house but yet will talk deeply as if they had one long ago when in reality they use an emulator and imagine what it wouldn't been like.
I'll help them out, it was beautiful especially the planet earth at that time, I remember Mario ii coming out, Mario II and Mario III were a work of art, forget graphics, Mario bros can take on any game of this era especially in a playability/longevity sense, I play mario lxiv still..

Super double dragon for snes is one of the greatest beat em ups for snes but it usually doesn’t get put in the Same category as turtles in time or streets of rage but in my opinion it was equally good and fun of a game as those legendary titles!!!
The double dragon twins needs to have a match with Ryu & Ken.

DD4 is DD4 because Super was a remake of DD1 (apparently) and DD5 was a third party game unattached to the main series. DD4 is the fourth chapter in the main (NES continuety) series.
Super should've been DD4 starring Bimmy and Jimmy II, the sons of Billy and Jimmy.
Mainly because the Dragons look too different from their arcade counterparts, Technos even kept switching their hair colors.

True, they do have naturally brown hair as shown in the failed live-action movie, the Double Dragons are as Asian-American as Bruce Lee.
What also makes them look different in Super:
· The Lee brothers look much more white.
· They fight more like Bruce Lee than the Arcade versions who fight more like Swan and Ajax from The Warriors.
· They look like punkers on the cover/manual art, and wear neon-colored DD3 clothes in-game.

Well marion got shot at the beginning of dd2 arcade but she is in the end credits so she is alive. I always thought the dopple ganggers at the end fight made a copy of marion to bring out the lee brothers

I played the shit out of the 1995 fighting game as a kid as my local bowling alley had it, so whenever my mom took my sister and I bowling I always sunk some quarters into after our game. That was the first Double Dragon game I ever played so I assumed it was a fighting game franchise like Fatal Fury or Mortal Kombat, it wasn't until years later when I watched AVGN that I learned that it was primarily a side-scrolling beat-em-up franchise.

I rented the nintendo game 3 weeks in a row. Punch Out! and Breath of Fire were the only ones rented for longer. Punch Out was insanely hard to find back in the day
My suggestion would be the Renegade and Kunio Kun games. Full history!

I think that it would work out better for you if you broke these extremely long videos into episodes. I personally see a really long video and I'm put off by it, but if it was broken down into episodes it would be more enticing... for lack of a better word.
