  • We originally were going to purchase the BMPCC Full Frame 6K or the Pyxis as we always worked with BMD cameras. But this past month we invested on opening our horizon and tried out a new brand, Kinefinity. In the market for a Full Frame Cinema camera, we stumbled upon one for a great price and bit the bullet and we've never looked back. Now having our hands on a FF for a short rental we decided to test the censor and image that would also be in the PYXIS against the new cam. We had fun and it was our first true testing experience and we are not experts. We did our best to get the settings almost the same with native REC 709. There's some weird TH-cam compression going on with the Kinefinity lowlight shots as they are a lot better not on TH-cam, unfortunate!
    Outside settings:
    Blazar Remus Lenses : 45mm, 65mm, 100mm
    T4.0 W/ Tilta Mirage VND Mattebox
    ISO 800
    WB 5800
    Indoor settings:
    Blazar Remus Lenses : 45mm, 65mm, 100mm
    Open at T2.0 for 45mm & 65mm
    Open at T2.8 100mm
    ISO 3200
    WB 2900
    Again we are not experts but we managed to get the color as close as possible before applying luts. The Kinefinity was well worth the extra money but the FF censor is no joke as well!

    I preferred the B Blackmagic in the first shot but in the low light shot the A Mavo wins. Different tools for different jobs, we have some great options today. We're at the point that if you can't make either of these cameras work, it's not the camera's fault.

    So hats off to you because you asked a subjective question at the end "Which one did you like better?" Making the video about the viewer, not the specs or your opinion. but to answer your question I like them both for every scene.

    I recognized camera B by several factors.
    Darker shadows.
    And yes, the noise level isn't excellent. But it's well-cured with a neat video.

    Crazy question from me, when looking at the last bit / side by side (2 min), how is it that the depth of field seems to be different by quiet a bit? Like the 6K to the left the tree is out of focus, but on the Kinefinity the tree, fence etc is sharp - only the very background trees out of focus. Are they at different f-stops? Is this because you had an ND on the blackmagic?

    BM 6K FF has better highlight roll-off and color rendition (it captures better the different white tones between the hat and the t-shirt, and the tone of the fence outside)
    Kinefinity Mavo LF MKII is better in lowlight out of the box (though denoised BM 6K FF is more natural than Kinefinity)

    I honestly preferred the look of the blackmagic in The properly exposed shots.

    I recognised Cam B was bmcc 6K because of the visible lines in dark not well lit areas at 1:12. No big deal for me since I will never use it under such circumstances.

    hey thanks for testing, it would be great to test, moving frames, difficult conditions such as direct sunlight, realistic low light scenes (the sensor smear looks really nasty tho), mainly real life conditions. also how is it that the mavo LF is less large format then the bm FF?

      @@Designguidetv it was a quick first test, didn’t put much thought into it! More things to come just sub and we will keep posting more! Also the FF has a slightly larger sensor than the Mavo LF

      @@Designguidetv TH-cam compression really doesn’t help what the actually video looks like to an extent. Also the base ISO for indoors I made 3200 for both cams to make it fair but the Kinefinity goes up to 5120 base before losing DR but that would have really set it apart!

    It would be nice if people could pay attention enough to the details to get the name right. It's not BMPCC nor BPMCC (labeled as such in the video), it's the Blackmagic Cinema Camera 6K, or BMCC6K if you're going to use acronyms in which case you should be using KMLFII. If you're going to use the full name of one, then use the full name of the other. For testing purposes I would be interested to see each camera at their native ISOs. I think the BMCC6K does better at 400/1250. As for which, well, at $6k I would take the Ursa Mini 12k.

      @omegabrandproductions  6 วันที่ผ่านมา

      @@dollhausenx our error on the ending acronym! But your right name is “Blackmagic Cinema Camera 6K Full Frame”. It’s still listed as a “pocket cam”which is weird considering that it’s not in the name! We have a URSA G2 and we have been more frequent using the Mavo over the G2!

    Good test! I'm actually in the same position, I'm looking to upgrade my old camera (BMPCC 6K original) to either Kinefinity mavo LF 2 or BMCC 6K FF. I was wondering if it's possible to get the RAW files somehow from the outside shoot? I wanted to see if I can match them myself together in davinci and get BMCC 6K to look as good as the KF.

    • @omegabrandproductions
      @omegabrandproductions  8 วันที่ผ่านมา

      That was almost the natural progression we went through till we purchased the Mavo LF! We sold both our 6K pro setups to get into the Mavo LF MK2 and kept our URSA G2! Regarding raw files this week we are going to be on shoots due to the holiday but would love to send some over!

      @@omegabrandproductions G2 is such a workhorse. Do you feel like Mavo LF2 has a lot less dynamic range compared to G2? Also, youtube doesnt let any email comments through so if you could just put that link in the description whenever you can that would be very helpful. Thanks a lot in advance!

    • @omegabrandproductions
      @omegabrandproductions  8 วันที่ผ่านมา

      @@birthright94 the Mavo and Ursa both have amazing dynamic range. That’s why those two are the ones we kept! We are actually loving Kinefinity, reminded us of RED before they got huge as well as BMPCC. Systems that produce great images at a fraction of the cost. But unfortunately they have not taken off much here in the west!
