This is really interesting. When I found my friend dead on the floor, face down, she had been there for a number of hours and she was fully mottled and rigor mortis was in full force. I recall her nose being bent to one side when I turned her up and always wondered if they could fix it before her 96 year old mother saw her before cremation but I never dared ask. Thanks for sharing this and sort of answering my question. Be blessed ladies! We love ya!
Very informative, thank you.. This was a good question to learn the answer. I discovered this channel when my daughter passed. For me, it's helpful to know what death care is all about. For us who don't know, this channel is a extreme help.. Thank you!
Thank you so much for your kind words. And we are truly sorry for the loss of your daughter 😞 please always be kind to yourself and take good care ❤️❤️
I just really love your channel, I find the whole subject of mortuary science fascinating. I love how much respect you have when you explain everything. Awesome job girls 😊👏🏻🙏🏻
I love learning about your work, Tracy! I certainly learned something new with this video!! I knew next to nothing about livor mortis and now I know why Grandma Sharps's face (side) was so red...that was in 1960...My dad asked about it, but I never heard what was said. Thanks so much! And Trish, I took a couple courses in massage therapy just before I got hired at our state hospital 😊
Hi Susan, that's really good to hear that these videos help in answering questions from long ago. Yes I do love my job in remedial massage, maybe you were meant to be in the hospital field ❤️❤️
Just a quick question not on topic, I love your dress! Where do you purchase it please?? Always informative information and you four, (you two ladies , Cal and Mort) are always entertaining!! Very much appreciate your insight! ❤❤
I watched a yt video where a funeral director had created a cocktail of chemicals that could reverse liver mortis. I think he was a Mexican funeral director. It was a fascinating video.
Depends on the percentage the body is embalmed at the height the percentage the longer the body will last. From a few weeks to possibly as long as Egyptian mummies. ❤️❤️
My sister committed suicide at the end of 2020. She had knee implants, and I know that it is possible to donate the implant for use in another person. Would that be at the request of a family member, or is it done automatically? I didn't know of such a thing until after her cremation, and I wondered what was done with her implants. Thank you. Great channel.
The crematorium we use will sell the unclaimed metal and the money is then used for a charity picked by a different member of staff each time this happens. Sorry to hear about your sister 😔 sending you our deepest condolences 🌹🌹
Great explanation very informative too this will have been what happened to my John as when I found him collapsed his right ear was going very dark as he was on his side I was talked into getting him embalmed by the funeral director I saw him 3 times in the chapel of rest and he was rock hard I did manage to hold his hand which was heartbreaking he was cremated on Tuesday the 23rd I'm not doing great either spent most of yesterday crying 😭
So very sorry to hear 😔 sending you our deepest condolences 🌹🌹 Sorry John felt a bit firm to the touch. This would have been the type of Embalming fluid used. I think I know the product it's been around for years and I don't like it because it tends to make the body feel too firm. I used a newer product it's much more environmentally friendly (to a point) and the body always feels very soft and natural to the touch. Sure the embalm took good care of John. Please be kind to yourself and talk to others if you need help. Please take good care ❤️❤️
@@Areyoudyingtoknow Thank you for taking the time to reply and for the explanation of the embalming on my John from the way John was I don't want to be embalmed when its my turn to depart this earth its put me off.
Actress Marilyn Monroe died in bed lying on her abdomen. I saw a postmortem photo of her and she did have significant livor mortis. I heard a man who helped embalm and prepare her body. They said she had a lot of edema in her neck. They said they removed some skin from the back of the neck and stitched her up.
I have a question - so with the big funeral chains who have a main care centre and receive quite a few people from various “ brands “ per day , do they deal with each person as soon as they arrive in care or do they prioritise depending on what funeral brand is say the most elite if that makes sense ?
Hi Andy I used to work for a big corporate company and it doesn't matter if you paid a premium or the latter. It all depends on services dates and time to the order of preparation. ❤️❤️
I live in Massachusetts. I was told you don’t have to be embalmed. What are the pros and cons on embalming. Other than looking good at your wake. What is the trocar used for. Is it required…. Thanks
Hi there. You don't have to be embalmed but different countries have different rules. We have fone videos on embalming and the trocar which should come up if you search our channel. If you need to know more after that, just ask 💜😁
In English cemeteries, is the casket or coffin ⚰️ placed in a cement burial vault or if no vault, is it placed directly in the ground with dirt thrown in the hole. In America, we use burial vaults. Please clarify this for me. Thank you. John, from Denver Colorado.
Hi John, they do both as we do here in Australia. The UK and Australia have burials underground with the dirt on top and we also have an above ground vault too. Hope that helps 😃❤️
Ladies, I have asked before, but perhaps you were too busy...Over here in Northern Ireland, only about 3% of deaths are embalmed. In my Nursing student days, I can remember the pungent smell of Formalin/Formaldehyde. Does the deceased who is embalmed, smell of this chemical, whilst being prepared/coffined? TYIA ❤❤❤
Hi gaggy sorry for the late reply. Not these days especially the brand of chemicals I use. They is a brand that has been around for years and still going strong now but I don't like it. Because it smells far too strong and makes the body feel hard to the touch and often turns the skin grey. The one I use is less harsh and the smell is much milder and all my embalms feel soft to the touch even when I have to embalm at a high percentage. So yes old school chemical can still leave a like smell on the body in the coffin or casket but the newer products are less likely to do this. Take good care and have a wonderful weekend 🥰❤️❤️
Interesting topic. Although kinda rare would a person that dark skinned like an Aborigine or perhaps an Albino or someone that has Vitiligo be difficult or a different challenge? How about Lepers would this be impossible? Thanks Ruben
Hi Ruben, all bodies go through the same process after death no matter what colour our skin is. The same process is done on any colour skin. Thank you for your question take care 😊💚
I found my x-partners brother dead and he was on his back and outside. He had dark purple color to the back of his head and his eyes had a white glaze to them. He had went hunting and never returned home. He had went into respiratory failure. I couldn't sleep for days cause that's all I could see when I closed my eyes. He had been there for 2 1/2 days.
I don't know why i always thought they drained all your blood/fluids out of you when washing, i do know Mum was on her back when dying, and they covered her head so we just saw the front like face/fringe
Sounds almost like lymphatic massage. Now that makes me wonder just how tough and resilient is the outer skin of a deceased person? It sounds as if you have to really work body parts to relieve rigor mortis when you’re embalming, and now to move liver mortis. At what point does the skin and flesh become to fragile to handle that kind of work being done to it? If a body were already starting to decompose, say at the point where Tracy could smell green, could you put a hand through the abdomen if you pressed to hard? Thank you both for all you’re hard work. My back is hurting so I’m laying on my two front bumps, in case you needed to know that. lol.

Hi Tracy, does increasing the pressure on the embalming machine help remove Liver Mortis from a deceased body?
Not if the liver mortis has already stained the skin. ❤️
