    We have been doing this on a much smaller scale (we are a portable church). And I have to say mixing in a DAW in my opinion is far superior then trying to grab a matrix mix or a second console. I created a template for our team that has really pushed the sound quality in the right direction! Latency is a non issue because even the ATEM mini has delay that allows for audio synch. Our setup consists of Dante network from X32 598.00 to a used MacBook Pro399.00 to a small 2 channel analog mixer just to feed the live stream through the ATEM mic input to TH-cam live our total coast is less then a decent console. And the plug in list and control is unbelievable!

    Nice setup!
    There are a lots of toys that I don`t need them, for the same results.
    But I appreciated that the sound engineer was talking about them !!!
    Mac, Logic Pro, Apollo 8p, Yamaha HS 8+Sub, Waves plugins, that is made my setup for broadcasting and works great!

    Minor point but the S1 and the other Avid controllers are not midi but Eucon. There's a big difference in resolution and reliability.

    • @annekedebruyn7797
      @annekedebruyn7797 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      To add to this, the app doesnt need the controller and vice versa.
      So if you bring your own mount, you could effectively use the S3 as seen here.
      That said, in this case that would mean that they would miss 8 faders. So not an option for them.

    In PT defense, the stock comp is so much more smoother to use than Logic stock. That said,the C1 and C4 comps from Waves are workhorses!!!

    For Jesse: How are you connecting Dante to Pro Tools?
    Have you, or would you, consider publishing your design spec and/or your cost list?
    Did you look at other DAW software and/or other control surfaces, and if so, how did you reach a decision / what were the pro's and con's of other solutions that you considered?
    Did you use a 3rd-party audio company as a solution provider, or did you figure this all out in-house?
    Would you be available for a consultation?
    Thanks!!

      @Simon Barrett Yes in a video on Jesses personal account i saw an Avid MTRX so when 64 CH are enough for them they probably have a pro tools hd native interface or an hdx card with some pcie to thunderbolt adaptors for their mac pro 6.1

    Amazing setup and the audio quality with the ability to use any type of plugin is something worthy to look into but I think this setup is more expensive than using a broadcast audio mixing console sans the "waves plugins"…

    GREAT STUFF! I would love to know the gear behind the external processing there. Cause I see some distressors on the right, but if it's all dante, how is the connection being done to process audio through those compressors? Do they have an Audio Interface that receives the Dante connection but also sends Analog Line Outs? That would also explain how the Genelec monitors are connected. HELP! Lol

    so much of this is beyond our church. we are a small church in canada, no band, nothing fancy, we have an organist and a keyboard player. one camera, no hubs, nothing digital other than our new camera. heres the question i havent seen asked or talked about. music rights. we play only hymns from our hymn book. i use to upload a live stream copy of the sermon to youtube. we even got a licence, a "CCL I infringement and monetization issues

    I have a tech question. How do you monitor the live stream when you have only a digital signal coming into the DAW?

  • @DrummR0812
    @DrummR0812 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    So on a digital console, there are Scenes or Snapshots that help transition parameters from section to section or song to song. I know there is Automation in Pro Tools while recording... but how would you do that live? Also, how do they deal with latency to line up with their video feed?
    At my work/church, we are considering moving this route, but we have some questions. If anyone can answer this, I would greatly appreciate it! Thanks!

  • @aoriver8312
    @aoriver8312 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    Question for all the smart people out there, if he is concerned about CPU usage, why doesn't he just increase the buffer size to the max? Since it's for broadcast, introducing latency shouldn't be a problem so long as it's accounted for before the audio is merged with the video. Plus, a higher buffer size would give the CPU more time to process the audio. Then he could use higher quality plugins without worrying about overloading the CPU and introducing artifacts into the audio. Thoughts?

    What i don't understand is, You already had a fancy system, so whats the point of upgrading? MY question is the same question i'm asking myself. The church wants to upgrade stuff but we have equipment that was $30,000.00 so i'm trying to understand why we need to replace it. so if you explain to me why you did maybe i can use that to dialogue with myself.

      @@BrianSimmons mmmh when you pay a professional yeah its easy. Try having volunteers use all this equipment. Now when the church members pay for unnecessary equipment its raises my eyebrow. Video produccion can be complicated and all im saying is there is easier ways to do this.

    • @ExcaliburTheOnlyOne
      @ExcaliburTheOnlyOne 4 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      @@ramirouribe2040 ofc there are easier ways but different churches have different goals, some want to be theologically robust and they will invest their money in bible schools, preachers, library and reference books etc. Other churches may want to focus on out reach so they will invest in vans, cars, petrol, outreach programs, mobile equipment etc.
      Some churches want to focus on bringing the quality in house to everyone in their homes hence they will invest more in audio and video equipment to enable their congregation to feel like they are physically in church. It is just like saying "it doesnt take a few hundred million dollars to produce a blockbuster it can be done for cheaper." Ofc it can but it simply will not have the quality of a blockbuster. Tech used in churches are made to give the congregation as seamless of a worship experience as possible meaning no hiccups, no downtime, no mistakes etc
