We're using a Focusrite 4i4 for our output and headphone monitoring from Abelton - out 1/2 goes to the vision mixer (Atem Mini) and the great thing about the Focusrites from 4i4 and up is that we can route the headphone output as out 3/4 and use that with the cue function in Ableton to give the broadcast audio engineer the option of soloing things in their ears without it affecting the output to the stream. It's the only way I've found so far to have that flexibility!
Awesome video Jake, the Klark Teknik DN9630 is something that I didn't know existed, it saves me from buying a Dante card which would cost double the price. I am currently volunteering in a church that still has an analogue system (Allen and Heath pa20-cp) and they don't exactly have a big budget, so I'm looking to introduce the digital system with an X32 Rack, which will sit on the stage like a stagebox and eventually become the monitor mixer if we ever upgrade to a full X32 or even add on a 2nd X32 Rack.
Hey Jake, this is great stuff. Question about monitoring: would it work well if you created an Aggregate device with DN9630 + headphone jack output? Send mains thru AES50, monitor thru headphone jack.
Good stuff as always Jake! Will the dn9630 also work with the aes50b port on the x32? Or is this specific to the Behringer Wing? Was looking through the Broadcast Mix Mastery course and couldn't find the answer...
Hey jake. Would you be able to tell me how can I toggle on the solo button for a single channel strip while mixing for livestream using Logic Pro X, WITHOUT it affecting the audio going to the main outs?
Hi, First I want to say that I love Churchfront, You guys do great work. I purchased the KT DN9630 based on your recommendation for our live feed mix and hooked it to the AES50 B output on our X32 and I am having issues with routing everything into Ableton or reaper. We do not own either software product as of yet and we are looking for mixing functionality only within the daw. I am sure this is a common problem faced by many in my position as I am not a sound engineer. I am head of sound and media for a very small church and we can't afford much and we especially can't afford a proper sound engineer to make these devices work for us. I have purchased most of our system out of pocket and I sort of wing it. Is it possible you could do a video specific to routing these 2 devices??
This is great, but i've watched all your videos on the broadcast mix and we are trying to find the best solution for us. Is there anything you would recommend specifically for a PORTABLE church that doesn't really have the budget nor personnel to have a separate audio engineer? Is there a way to streamline the mix and not have such an extensive equipment setup? What would be ideal?
Optogate for 100+ USD instead of a cheap talkback microphone that has a built in switch? I don't get how you decide where to invest, is there an amount of money that needs to be spent at minimum?
way too much work tho flip a switch, plus someone could forget to switch it off and it would bleed a ton of volume into the in-ears. I think it's worth it.
How is your talk back set up thru your system to get to their IEM? Are you using Ableton and sending back your AES50? Or wired directly to you FOH board?
@@Churchfront that's awesome! Apart from individual outputs, you can do really cool things with that module like importing multi-layered samples. Looking forward to that video!
Question. how do you send the audio output from the Mac Mini to the rig you're using to broadcast? Do you have additional converters? I'm having a hard time trying the understand that process, lol...
I actually just did this Anthony! What you have to do is route your broadcast TB mic via Dante to an input channel on your FOH console. Then it will be accessible to the musicians.
@@imgmakr If you're using a Mac you can do this with an aggregate device. If you're using a PC the software I've heard recommended is ASIO4ALL. I haven't tried it personally but I bet the process is similar. On a Mac, search for a program called "audio midi setup". This lets you combine two audio sources but your Mac will treat them as one cohesive unit. What I do is take DVS and a cheap 2 channel focusrite interface and combine them as an aggregate device. It simply takes the additional I/O from the Focusrite and adds them to the I/O of DVS. When you go into Studio One, choose aggregate device instead of DVS for all your patches. DVS stops at 64x64, so the Focusrite should be input 65. Make a channel input for your talkback in Studio One, then send it out one of your Dante outputs. Now you can patch that Dante output to your FOH console. I also use the Focusrite to get the audio back out of the DAW and go XLR into my switcher and studio monitors.
@@mikehines14 Unfortunately ASIO4ALL didn't work for me but I did manage get it working by using ReaStream and OBS. I created an audio input in OBS and added the ReaStream filter. Then created a track in SO and added the matching plug-in. Routed that to the X32 via Dante Controller.
Hey, why are you not just using a Behringer x32 for the broadcast mix, is that not just a lot easier in usability and connectivity? Any reason, I'm interested in what your thoughts are.
@@nicojansen503 Thanks for clarifying - then the answer here is - plugins and available routing and recording as well. We use a DLive 3500 at FOH and then I'm using a GLD112 for Broadcast Mixing - everything is feeding via Dante, but I'm considering sending the 32 channels we use via Dante to Pro Tools or Ableton Live and try a mix this way. I'd gain in plugins and ability to record - I think it is worth it. Then send that mix back into our GLD112 and route it to where it needs to go (video switcher) to sync and then be uploaded via RESI or BoxCast wherever it needs to go.
Hi Jake great video! Do you have a video that describes how to route the DN9630 from the X32 AES50A port to Ableton and back to the X32 channel which will go into our vMix encoder. Again, thank you for all the information in your videos. It has helped us out numerous times.
Hey Jake, do you mute and unmute band and speakers etc when they're coming on and off stage? Do you find you can do that easily with the multiview monitor in front of you?
