I spent several years working with steel and walking around on I-Beams and such.......I was kind of fearless but I don't think I could ever go back to that so it can just remain great memories from that part of my life.

As the block was getting closer to crown, a Norwegian came onto the radio so I couldn’t tell the driller to stop. By the time the radio cleared I was bent double as the block was only 4 feet from the crown. That was a pretty scary experience. Actually that was a terrifying experience. Coming down the driller let the blocks come down as fast as possible. He told me he forgot I was on the block.
What they didn't show was the crowd of women protesting, demanding they be given the opportunity to do this work. Oh, wait a minute, they had a yoga class.

It involved climbing up the vertical ladders then walking along a beam with a 100 foot shear drop below me. I ended up coming back down and telling the driller I'm not doing that, to which he replied I'm the only guy on the rig who can do it and that is my job. I was shaking like a leaf when I walked along that beam, and somehow managed to fix that camera despite my bad mental state. Next day I got called to go there again. I was shaking a bit but not as much and the fear was not as bad. The 3rd time I had to go up there I ended up excited because I was no longer scared. Next thing I know I'm getting into rock climbing. That was several decades ago and my fear is now "back to normal" with heights LOL.

I started as a scaffolder in 1964,we worked on jobs like this with no safety gear,no hard hat no harness,no gloves,when i think about it now we must have been mad, But we did get good money compared to other trades, just thankful i survived to old age.

When they demo a scaffold... they always stay tied off to a section that is still supported. Obviously it disassembles in pieces being tied off to sturdy part goes without saying.
As experienced scaffolder i can say for sure that you dont know what you talking about , every part of scaffolding is connected on separate points , every point is very tightly holding and in my scaffolding career it never happened that properly built scaffolding any of its part get unhooked "suddenly" and like other comments suggested as much as they remove the scaffolding beneath them they move the hooks upwards.Everything what was done in the video was perfectly safe and secure.

The scaffold is rated to hold them both if they fell. Im not a fan of their hooks, my company uses a locking retractable instead of the shock absorption hooks.
Some people are not afraid of heights, some aren’t afraid of tight spaces, some aren’t afraid of snakes and spiders. Guess fear is really only in the mind. Btw, I couldn’t go on that scaffold.
Back in the 70s and 80s I was a rigger / scaffolder / dog man. I used to do the same as them except with no safety belt. I used to like the adrenaline rush.

Easy peasy...I've done it loads of times with tube and fittings 😅😊. Scaffolders are the salt of the earth and it takes a certain type of individual to do that job because its hard work and very dangerous.
So they got a harness even some really big nice looking hooks to secure your harness to something stable... but then the hook is hooked up to the scaffold which they are breaking down as they go... doesn't that seems a bit contradicting in any kind of way? Are those few bolts that hold those fews pipes the same bolts that keep those guys alive? Wouldn't it be better to have something more central and solid up there to hook up too?
Might get twisted up in ropes if it goes wrong but you know... that's the best case scenario if something goes wrong, as it is, they'll come down with the whole "structure"

There is no such term/thing as a "scaffold builder." It's a scaffolder.
