What hits me the hardest is that while they clash against each others in spouts of fire and electricity, Ignis is trying his very best to talk sense into Ravus, who's completely losing it. Really does so much for both their characters.

Not everything, at least Ignis Survives. Personaly I think he's a descendant of the Nox Fleuret Family as well as Luna & Ravus Long Lost Brother
to top it all off just when he was about to fulfill the only thing that he lived for at that point he was attacked and turned into a daemon
only to beg the person he despised most to end his misery
That moment when Gladio goes on a spirit journey specifically to get strong enough to stand up to Ravus meanwhile here's Iggy soloing him like a boss without any power ups. Ignis was just silently holding back all of his power this entire time. Lol

For me that’s some kind of major error.
Like Gladdy tried to stop the arm of the man with all of his force but a tired Ignis could do it too ? And not only that ,he « beated him ». It was clearly stated that fighting-wise Gladio’ was the best of the group and that’s why the scene with Ravus crushing him was so impressive.

I think the difference here and there is that Ravus came at Gladio with everything he had right from the start and caught him off guard right from the get go. He also lost any leverage by immediately being pinned under Ravus' sword so not much he could do from there. I think Gladiolus after his match with Gilgamesh would destroy Ravus. Here Ravus has also been fighting all day alongside Ignis and I think while Ignis may not be Ravus' equal in pure strength his mastery over magic helped even the playing field. Plus I think Ravus wasn't properly focused or fully trying either seeing as to how he was overcome with grief over Luna and he had come to respect Iggy to a certain extent too. All in all while Iggy is physically weaker and yes he was fighting all day Ravus was also fighting all day and wasn't at the top of his game mentally speaking. You'll notice many times in this fight where he did knock Iggy around with physical blows and at one point lifted him up while strangling him with one hand. While I personally did want to see Gladio and Ravus go at it again at full strength I feel like by this point in the game it would be fairly one sided in Gladio's favor since Gilgamesh is a much tougher opponent than Ravus and Ravus during this particular battle is already off his game. I mostly made my comment as a joke for fun but I do think there are legitimate reasons behind why both encounters played out the way they did and why both make sense within their respective contexts.

Ravus>Gilgamesh. Gilgamesh schooled Gladio during their first encounter, but not as hard as Ravus did.
Ignis' is underestimated cause he's mild mannered, doesnt like to show off, but in this dlc its pretty clear he is by far the strongest of the 3 companions. Just look what happened when he uses the ring, beats the strongest character in the game. Compare this to Nyx who could barely beat some chump in magitek armor.

I'm pretty sure if we got Ravus (human form) as boss in the main game, Noctis would wreck him too.

Gladio is strong for human stander not for a robotic metal arm also Ravus is fast but right now he’s just in full nooooooo mode so he’s not thinking clearly
I'm late for this but I like to think that the real reason to why Ravus lost to Ignis is because he was not himself, he was grieving and in despair whereas Ignis was trying his absolute best to protect Noctis from Ravus. Even the fact that Ravus simply let go of his intentions of killing Noctis after losing the fight like that proves that he wasn't really driven to kill Noctis, he was simply mad about everything and that fight helped him blow off some steam.
The only reason why Ignis was not killed was because Ravus could not think clearly so he left many weak spots , plus after the battle you can see that Ignis kinda lost his energy but Ravus gets up very fast. But Ignis won the battle with his words , not his blades. Ravus was much stronger than Ignis but I don't think he would be strong enough to beat Gladio after Gilgamesh test.
And just like that Ravus has become one of my favorite characters in FFXV

This kind of deepness of characters should have been in FF XV from day one, Ravus had such a huge potential

*Top Ten Saddest Anime Deaths* Ok, but in all seriousness, this entire battle and cutscenes show you so much and actually explain almost all of Ravus’ character in just seven minutes. This dlc was a beautiful masterpiece and really will give you a feels trip, I actually felt like crying from the look on his face alone when he saw her because the animators managed to capture all the feelings of anger, denial and sorrow that comes with grief.

This brought back that final fantasy moment that I had felt first when I saw this game, in my eyes this is the best dlc made for this game

Nathan Izq Nah while this DLC was phenomenal I wouldn't say it was better than the entire game. Fights like Aranea, Titan, Leviathan, Daemon Ravus, Ifrit, and even Ardyn were all pretty great. Story had its low moments but there were some genuinely great and heartfelt moments in there too. This DLC was just more consistent and even then that's largely due to its length and size. A big open world like the main game is gonna have trouble always keeping the story turned up to 11 cuz the player needs breathing room for side quests and exploration but whenever the story really focused up I liked it just as much as the stuff i saw here and I would say I still like the final Insomnia portion of the main game more than anything I've seen in the DLCs so far.
FF15 was too much of a slog. The first %70 of the game was total garbage, not worth playing. It picked up at the end but Ardyn was a shit final boss, easily the worst in any FF game, his moveset was way cooler in this friggin DLC lol(still trash though).
15 shouldve focused on including emotional and interesting story moments like this dlc rather than
pointlessly making a big open world game. The open world sucked anyway, pretty much empty. Wouldve gladly taken loading screens and segmented areas if it meant getting stuff like this dlc throughout the whole game.
ZZZ Yeah I agree with u. I don't know why SE decides to go with open world since they haven't even done any half open world like old Zelda franchise. And u know v13 was originally planned as a linear (not totally linear tho) rpg like ff7, and was planned to sell as 3 games. So which means it would've been a very long RPG fulfilled with good and full plots. U know the outline of 15 is actually pretty good right...

That would be so sick. Ravus is by far one of the best written and developed characters in FFXV, even if it doesn't seem like it at first. He' definitely my favorite, so hopefully we'll get some Ravus DLC in the future.

Well..... Ouch- anyone elses heart still throbbing for this man? Ravus will be a underrated and misunderstood character but I'm so glad that I found people who feel the same I do about him 😔 He loved his sister and only to lose her in the end hurts, even since I have a older brother and I can say siblings are kind of a duo- one with out the other won't be the same

Interesting to see more of Ravus affection for Lunafreya, and has the player sympathize with how both Ravus and Noctis wanted to save Luna's life and with Ravus losing the only family he had left. If only Ravus did not suffer a cruel end by Ardyn, as I preferred if he went down fighting than to be mocked while dying.
God, I love the music in this boss battle. Reply or like if you think that it sounds exactly like the music that you'd expect from one of the later Harry Potter movies .
I just want to give Ravus all the hugs and love I could muster. He really does need someone to simply understand why he views the world as he does

Her relationship with Noctis was too much of a copy and paste of Cloud and Aerith.
Fixed that for you. Geez, do you even play FFVII properly? And if Stella seems like generic anime girl, Luna must look like a damn tropy blonde princess that only exist to be a plot device or a emotion object for the main character (which she is, sadly). And go watch the scene Aerith died in Forgotten Capital then compare it with the scene Luna died in Altissia please. If you think Luna-Noctis relationship is not a carbon copy of Aerith-Cloud relationship after doing that, I've got bad new for you.
All we know of Stella was that she had a rapier and annoyed Noctis. Luna has more personality and story than Stella. Face it, Stella is gone. Accept that fact.

Stella had no personality that we know. Luna had more of a personality and story than her. Scrapped or not, we probably would have been disappointed with her too.

So PlayStation Access made a video about what characters should get their own game. Ignis was the first one mentioned. Then looked in comments... practically everyone wants a FF game with Ignis as the main.

I absolutely loved that final move when Ignis jumped just in time to dodge Ravus' force lightning and then struck him down with the spear. It was timed just right and its damned awesome.

This is probably my favorite fight in the entire game. At least the most emotionally impactful.
I wish more of the duel bosses in the main game had dynamic intros like this one, the Ardyn fight particularly could have used it.

Damie Towner While Ardyn may not have gotten a dynamic intro, or cool realtime aerial combat, I think the third phase of his fight is still the most intense, heavy, and masterfully executed fight sequence in the game. Where you've both expended most of your power but Ardyn is still just a bit quicker and is beating you down while taunting you with that haunting score playing in the background as you desperately look for an opening to start retaliating which gets capped off with Noctis pretty much doing Cloud's Omnislash v.6 on Ardyn with all 13 royal arms. It's probably the most cathartic and satisfying end to a fight in the game imo.

Lunafreya and Ravus both should have gotten more screentime in this story. They were both such complex characters and yet tragically underutilized. Still, I'm grateful that the Ignis DLC gave us this epic, emotionally charged boss fight.
The moment the music starts to swell and "Ravus Left Party" appears on the screen is where you know things are about to get serious.

If you mean the boss theme, it's called Two Protectors, afaik.
The OSTs generally seem to be titled after their respective quest names in the DLC, so use that as a reference if you wanna find the whole soundtrack.

The effect of attack should really have an animation to make them appear that they are getting hurt. It looks like Ravus is a juggernaut just tanking these ataacks

Its already 2 years since FFXV release, but I still feel dissapoint about Luna. First, her design, then I hope her character will be better. But until now, I dont find anything special about her except her role as Oracle and Noctis's bride to be.
At first I think her battle with Levianthan will be amazing, when she will show great magic as Oracle and she will be defeat it. But I only see her damsel and distress scene.
She like an usual type anime-girl who must be protect by the hero.
Hope before Square Enix end their project for FFXV, they will give last DLC about Luna, tell about her personality and her journey before her death.
YessyCitra D When I saw Luna standing in front of Leviathan i adjusted myself and prepared myself for a battle i THOUGHT would be epic... Nope... weak anime girl who had to be protected by the hero.
Geometrical Gamer Were we watching the same sequence of events? Luna carried Noct through that fight. She blasted Leviathan back with her magic when she tried to eat her, then Noct was supposed to take over from there and fight her because it's his trial but Leviathan smacked him away, then Luna summoned all of Noctis' kingly power for him so he could actually stand a chance, then even though she had just been stabbed by Ardyn she still rushed over to Noctis who passed out from expending too much energy and healed him up while summoning Titan which Noctis says takes up a lot of energy in and of itself, and her last act was literally keeping Noctis alive while both were drowning in a massive flood of water that broke through Titan's solid rock walls. I thought that scene displayed her strength, sheer will, and durability amazingly but just because she wasn't going super saiyan people choose to write it off. Seriously people need to broaden their definition of strength cuz it's not just all about punching someone really hard. A girl that was confirmed to be slowly dying was doing all of that. I say it was a great show of her resolve.

I totally understand Ravus here and what he tries to express, but still the writing of his character rubbed me the wrong way. He surely forgot his anger quickly after the fight with Iggy and sounded too forgiving. I'm a bit sad that the story didn't go into the "Astral slaying"-direction like DotF did.

I am surprised that Ignis let go of the fact that Ravus just tried to murder his best friend so easily lol
John D. Zephyr Ignis and even Ravus himself knew he wasn't going to kill Noctis. Like Ignis said, killing Noctis wouldn't bring his sister back. But being pained by yet another death of a loved one, one that he was trying to prevent by the hands of Gods and Lucian line enraged him, nobody could blame Ravus for feeling the way he felt.
He was definitely planning to kill Noctis in the heat of the moment if he got the chance. Not to say that he didn't realize later how foolish it was of him to do that, but he was definitely going to if it wasn't for Ignis. I suppose Iggy did cut him a break since he did just lose his sister.

She was the oracle and her duty was to guide Noctis on the road towards his destiny. If it meant giving up her life to him for that to continue, she would do it. That is her destiny. That is also what Ravaus hated.
