I absolutely love the simplicity of the basic shell. After binge watching this is something that my husband and myself could accomplish. 🤞🏻 Our dream will one day become reality.
Bathroom is looking good. Almost dried in. Loved the clip of the wildlife. The music was amazing. The more I watch your videos, the more it makes me want a cabin like yours.
Coming together! Well played on the cutting away all the joints to create the opening for bathroom--Excited to see how you finish the roof structure. 👍👍👍
Man , you're doing exactly what i always wanted to do . I can't think of two better things than living in nature and building your own rustic place . I really like that 2'' X 8 " system you created

Really.should have waited until he could afford a larger add-on, or planned a bigger structure from the beggining that included space for a bathroom...He's now seeing why 2X4's, and Celetex were invented...Building like he did costs a literal fortune, with a much lower appraised value...Though, a modern bathroom helps the value tremendously, only a small % of people are interested in fire only heating...
Always amazing. Love seeing your creative workmanship and your music selections are always so calming. Makes watching your journey such a great experience. Cheers!
Looking good. My guestimation is the inside measurements of your bathroom is 42”x90”. I’m anxious to see how you lay it out. We are hoping to fit a corner shower, toilet, and small sink in a 48”x72.
This cabin becomes nicer and nicer - have fun with it! I hope the bathroom and the bedroom will be ready before winter then ...! Greetings from Germany from teh silver fox, David 😉🦊
Hello! I want to apologize because some time ago I dared to give you advice on where you should best place the staircase that goes up to the upper floor. You kindly told me that this is where the access door to your bathroom would go. I shouldn't make those kinds of comments. I think, as a viewer, I should exclusively watch, learn and enjoy your videos. I wish I had the courage and entrepreneurial capacity that you have. Many times I dream of building a cabin like this, like yours, where I can live the rest of my life, far from the crowd and the noise of the big city where I now live. You are doing an extraordinary job. Thank you so much for sharing your wisdom and extraordinary dedication. All the best. Carlos.
Awesome as always. Great work on the bathroom addition. By far, the neatest cabin build going on TH-cam. Unique design and construction technique. Always enjoy watching each episode. Regards, Randy in Arizona
Hey guy's great job, since I'm blind on one eye can't see at the other is hard for me to tell on the video. What size birds are you using 2x8 ? And what is the measurement on the middle board to the side boards ( the tong)
You know I have been watching for first time I really like what you have done the design the cosiness and the colour where it is located kind of ironic I am a modern minimalist but nevertheless I like what you have done. Congrats.
WOW! JUST found your channel. It came in on the list of coming up videos. All I had to do was see a cabin in the woods ♥️😊. My house is set way back from the road, woods on all sides. I’ve been here from 1984 to Mid March 2022- middle of the night fire 😪 Come spring, I got a small camper to set here and bring my husky who was in heet. My son who got stuck here when Covid hit to visit his dogs who I was tending while he was looking for a house in Nova Scotia. He’s a breeder and I knew how noisy his males could be wanting the female and never renting before thought perhaps take Sorcha out of the apartment for abit would be good I planted my gardens, started picking up glass and doors insulation and anything else I could safely. They want $15000 to tear down the burned frame 😳😳 LIKE HELL even if I had that kinda money. So started out to be a couple weeks but I left when it was too cold … BUT spring spring and so did me and my dog and we came here in April. ♥️♥️ I tried every way possible to fit my wood stove in here but it’s not gonna work so I’ve been toying with the idea of building a small room on somehow to house the wood stove 😊. 🙏 My pension is very little but old age pension starts this winter THEN I can at least afford to get started somehow on living back here at HOME for the years I’ve left. Your place is gorgeous and is my life’s dream and how I’ve always wanted to live. I’ve subscribed 👍😊. Looking forward to binge watch all I’ve not seen
Finally! I was waiting for this video so long. I am looking forward to see the end of the bathroom. It looks really nice and a great job man... If only here in Italy it should be so easy to build something on your own property I would like to create something similar here, but the rules here are very stricktly
great great cabin man. i just noticed your profile.. your around bon aqua. i am in the hills out here around hurricane mills. had no idea you were so close. it you ever need extra pair of hands, give me a holler.

Probably #2 if you bought them from a Lowes or HD. We are planning our cabin build and it’s going to be very similar to what you have built and I have been trying to figure out the pitch for the main body. I was thinking it is a 12/12 but with the amount of courses on the gable end the math looks closer to a 14/12. I am a roof/floor designer and drawing it out on our software it looks like you have from the top plate to the peak is close to 8’. Also….what are your pitches for the bedroom and bath? Thanks for your help!!!
@@TheOffGridExperience of course, I just didn’t know if charring them would diminish the benefit of them being pressure treated, because the cabin looks rustic, but the pressure treated posts have a that new green wood look. I suppose over time the posts will grey over.
Silly question but why doesn't anyone who builds off grid tiny house/cabin factor in the bathroom in the original build/plans......just wondering. After watching hundreds of these type videos they NEVER build a bathroom 😂😂😂 Especially with these new dry flush and compost toilets
I love how every surface is a nailing surface.
It sure helps 👍
l like it
Great idea for the build,,,2x8,,,should stand the test of time
Thanks. I hope so 👍
Awesome 🙂👍
Thank you! Cheers!
Love the addition. Coming together nicely. Something about nature videos that is super relaxing.

I like the cabin the cozy look😊
I love the looks of what you're doing. Even though it's a new construction it looks like it's been there for 80 years which is really cool

Thank you very much!
So nice to see you again! You've made much progress on the bathroom! Thanks Dave!
Thanks. He was a big help 👍
I like the cabin a lot
Thanks 👍
Great as always. Thanks Dave for the nature shots.
A gable on the bathroom side would look great and would give you more room in the loft. As if you didn't know.
That's a great idea but trying to keep it a simple shed roof. Maybe down the road though....

I am curious how you keep the OSB from rotting or otherwise soaking up moisture from the exposed edge.

That cut at 8:33 and the ones like it were brutal. Hate to see the breakage/tear out. Maybe an oscillating tool to finish the cuts?
They will be wrapped by 1x's when I finish trim everything so I'm not worried. Thanks for watching 👍
I would have used a tarp and one above to keep everything dry, but that's just me...
Newbie here love your cabin and how you have it all set up on the property
I do have a question are you going to build a root cellar for your food
Thanks. That is in the plans. 👍
❤❤🎉😮👍👍👍👍
Were the roof panels repurposed from another house? I’m only asking because of all the rust. Why not new panels? Maybe cost?
I rusted them myself for an antique look.
Love your videos. Curious to know what grade 2x8 you are using.
Not sure but it’s southern yellow pine. Thanks 👍
Probably #2 if you bought them from a Lowes or HD. It appears you didn’t shou sugi ban the 4x4s supports. Is there a reason why?
The 6x6 posts for the foundation were all pressure treated.

It's a great videos of the build but I think you should have made a plan of the whole cabin before beginning
I don’t believe it was his plan to build a bedroom and bathroom. He’s doing a great job though!
If you watch this video, you will see it was part of the plan.

😂Bro your cabin is so dark and gloomy like the cabin from the evil dead. Like a 1985 horror movie. But great video.
Haha...thanks...I think?
Would blowtorching the wood before putting it together be better or it doesn’t matter ???
It's a bit messier and probably a bit safer.
What kind of 2x8s are these. Pressure treated?
No pressure treated wood should be used on interior. I only used pressure treated on foundation posts.
C'est de mieux envieux merci
Hey honey build me one of those .😊
Follow the animals you will find food
great. he ruined all joints . . . please build alone 😂
Haha...they will be wrapped by 1x's so not worried.
nice poop room
Pretty ratty looking piece of OSB you used on the floor .
Yes. Perfect for the application.
Silly question but why doesn't anyone who builds off grid tiny house/cabin factor in the bathroom in the original build/plans......just wondering. After watching hundreds of these type videos they NEVER build a bathroom 😂😂😂 Especially with these new dry flush and compost toilets
The outsider did.
Seriously? You used a piece of Almost ROTTED Chipboard as a Floor? Then let it get rained on to soak up even more Moisture???
bring him some of that 80 dollar board, he won't mind.
Yes. Same thing I did on main cabin. The 1/2 OSB is just to walk on and provides no other structural value
Poop.
Haha...yes. Soon!
