    One thing I noticed is be careful putting your drill up on that shelf. Your hammering could make that drill fall over and put the hole right in your liner.
    Why no pee gravel or silicone around drain?
    Also need to put more information on the drain hight. Thats where a lot of people get it wrong.
    Great job👍

    Wouldn’t it not been better to put down some HardiBoard over the subfloor before the leveling compound since it being a form of concrete, it will always have a level of moisture and therefor potentially rot out the subfloor?

    • @jonport_
      @jonport_  หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@Chase-vr9fp you could or some vapor barrier of some kind.

    21;15 if you leave screws in there easier to find through the liner

    good vid man, these comments are full of air heads. self leveler is ther way to go. One question, ive heard you should have the backer board behindd the membrane, your thoughts?

    • @jonport_
      @jonport_  ปีที่แล้ว

      They’re something lol if I’m understanding this correctly, definitely not. you want to cover everything with hardy backer, so the Tile can stick to a solid substrate. Tile will not last if it’s stuck to that vinyl liner. Plus, it wouldn’t be very solid. I hope that’s what you’re talking about. Lol

    • @jonport_

      No never. Water will wic up the board and rot it out. 1/2 above the floor

    I get the middle circle frsin but how do you start in the middle snd screet if its a swuare drain and you have to add the tile height

    • @jonport_
      @jonport_  5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Depending on which drain you have. Some of the tops come off completely. Then you can just screed flush to the top. The ones that don’t come off you screed to the bottom of the drain which is about 3/8 thick and you should be able to have that drain loose so you can screw tighten it or loosen it Ording to your tile height. Hope that makes sense.

    like the pre-Slope and liner drain. wonder if pre Slope could be done with a fast dry cement or mortar. thanks

    • @jonport_

      Honestly bro it only took about an hour to dry. If your in a real rush you could use cemental from homdepote you can walk on it in like 20 min.

    I’m used to seeing shower liners installed then a motar bed followed by some waterproofing membrane.
    Isn’t this overkill? Self leveling preslope then a mortar bed to slope in the drain :s

    • @jonport_
      @jonport_  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Honestly not really man. Water gets into everything so the perfect systems. There’s a video about a old house that’s being remodeled and they used a lead pan underneath their bathroom floor and shower and the shower was over 100 years old when they went to rip it up there was one inch or one percent of mold under everything looked absolutely brand-new after that long you won’t get that with any other system whether it’s a lead pan or a rubber band they are bulletproof. Never put mud down on wood. It will eventually absorb whatever water was used in the mix. Placing tarpaper between the plywood and deck mud provides the waterproof barrier.
      To each their own. Everyone does it a different way. Never seen deck mud placed directly on plywood. The membrane is roughly 40 mil.
