Guys. Kit lens for video. The 18-55 because it has OIS. For video this is a great lens, but its average for photos. Which is why I use the 35 f1.4 for that.
Adam Wilson Hi Adam, im also planning to buy the XT20. I my torn between the 23mm F1.4 and the 35mm F1.4. Please share your thoughts on this dilemma. Cheers
The video is so beautiful. I’m in love with the color of the video. Thank you so much for visiting Vietnam and making such fastinating video about our country!
This is so beautifully created. At the moment, I'm looking for cinematic videos captured by Fujifilm XT20 and I can say your video inspired me. I had my xt20 in 2017 and still using it now for photography and vlogs. I hope you create more of videos like this 😊
Wow you took my right back to my south to north Vietnam trip. This video brought back some great memories - as well as demonstrating the XT20. beautiful
Beautifully shot and beautifully edited video! I'm not quite comfortable taking video with my Xt-20 just yet..but this video has made me want to make video a stronger focus of mine! Much appreciated good sir!
Having doubts to get this camera because of video capabilities. Seeing your video makes me rethink again. Great video and editing by the way! Subscribed!
Really just depends what you're into i guess. I mainly shoot stills but wanted to play with video. This did both for me without being cumbersome. Although I'd probably look at the xh1 now for higher video specs.
Mr. Wilson... I have watched so many X-T20 videos and comparing them to X-T3 ones. Why oh why does this little X-T20 seems so much more film-like? It's so much more cinematic than the X-T3. Could it be the difference with the X Trans3 sensor and X Trans4? I have the budget for either... but my goodness this X-T20 looks soooo different and soooo filmic. Any thoughts since you've used this camera? Perhaps my eyes deceive me, or I am going crazy? :)
Hello. Very kind of you to say firstly. So I think you may just he swayed by the content of this video itself, this was the first thing I made with my xt20. I'm an experienced photographer, but at the time was a very inexperienced videographer. I just got lucky with great content. You'll capture cleaner files with the xt3 I'm sure, but I've heavily edited this footage to get it how I wanted. That being said, I wish I had access to Fuji's Eterna profile for simple quick videos, this seem to strike the balance between raw and straight out of the camera good. Message me if you want more details
There are a lot of pictures that are not really 4K, so when you enlarge the quality of that image you can tell without the definition that the other clips provide you if they are 4K. I could see a couple of pictures where the color correction of the same scene varies. It's good to see someone take advantage of the Ultra Wide look, but there are many details.
@@AdamWilson1983 Shit? shit is that you justify the deficiencies of your content with an excuse so stupid as to say: It's called editing. Editing is not uploading a video in 4k, modifying the scale of a video that is clearly not 4k, editing is not that in the same scene the contrast and range levels vary. Learn better to edit, learn better to color and learn that it is useless to upload videos in 4k if all your material is not 4k. And learn to receive comments that are giving you something, because then the shit, in addition to your edition, is your attitude.
Did you upscale the footage from 1080p to 4k in post? Because you have a lot of slomo in your footage and in 4K the camera is only capable to film 30fps. So I wonder how you got such great slowmo footage while maintaining 4k. Also, which film simulation mode did you apply? Had any issues in post with color grading due to the lack of log files with this camera? I am wondering since I am doubting to buy this camera. Thanks in advance! And great video btw! :)
Sven Let me explain. I shoot a combination of 24p and 30p in 4k, and 60p in HD. I conform all of this to a 24p timeline, so 30p at 80% speed, and 60p at 40‰ speed. I do need to upscale the 60p footage to fit the 24p 4k timeline though. No film simulations, just standard. This is the 'flattest' profile. I also set my Highlights, Shadows, and sharpening to -2. It's not quite log footage but it still works pretty well. To further it I run a log simulation Lut in my Technical Adjustment Layers in Premier Pro to the full timeline to level the footage out more. This way I've got a nice clean start for colour grading. Which I won't get into here but you get the idea. Check out my Croatia video too!
Hey, so I’ve got a big interest in buying this camera for a bit of fun for both photography and videography. The only thing that is slightly putting me off is the image stabilisation, I’m pretty new to all of this and never owned a mirrorless camera too so how’d you go about keeping ready shots? Do you use any gimbals? If so which one. Thanks :)
Adam, I'm so torn now. I have an X-T1 and I absolutely love it but I really want a better capable camera for video, which is why I'm looking into the X-T20. Though I haven't purchased enough primes to say I'm committed to the X mount, I was planning on buying the 16mm F1.2 down the road. I truly wish Fuji had IBIS for video though. Do you think I should just stay with Fuji or bite the bullet and switch to Sony (a6500)? Everybody is also welcome to comment. Thanks!
I think the X-T2 would be better to compare the A6500 with as they are in the same price range, wheras the X-T20 is like the a6300. Fuji definetly has the better kit lens with the 16-55 f2.8-4 and if you are not planning on buying converters or putting full frame lenses on the sony, the X-mount offers more nice glass at a better price and size if traveling. I did alot of research before buying the X-T20, mostly comparing with the a6300 and found the design of the Fuji and lens selection more appealing, but lacking some of the video features of the a6300 (s-log and slightly better AF in video). I don't do that much video yet, but I got the Peak Design mirrorless strap for it. Use it as a shoulder strap, push the camera out so you have tention on the strap . BAM! Instant stadycam ;-) Should work with any strap though.
Hi Adam, its an awesome demonstration for clean clear 4k footage work and i love it. I have a question tho, does the xt20 or xt2 in AF continous mode can tab to track people in use of the screen or you have to follow the subject otherwise it will not follow? I hope you get what im saying :)
Looks nice. Such a shame Fuji doesn't have IBIS. It would be so nice to have for video. But you did a good job, the handshake is not disturbing at all, actually it helps the story
Very nice Makes me want to sell my XT1 for an X-T20 (Xt2 is very expensive). What % did you use the LUT at? Also what film simulation are you using as your default? Cheers and keep up the good work :)
It's a little old now, and I've upgraded to an xt4 recently. But there's no way I would ever get rid of this xt20. It's still as good as the rest of the Fuji lineup. For me too, I just can't shoot with my right eye so all the range finder styles cameras aren't great. Having the eye piece right in the middle is so much more useful.
Hi Adam, really great work, love your videos with your xt20. I have a question: how do you make a slow motion and fast with xt20? Because I know that it is not in its funciont. Thank you so much :)
Ilaria Pia Canestrale hi there. Thanks firstly. If you scroll down a few comments to Svens question he asked the same thing. I wrote up a full reply. The XT20 does shoot 60fps though, which on a 24fps timeline can be slowed down to 40‰
Hey, nice video! Quick question since I'm leaving to Vietnam myself. DId you have any problems with the humidity and the camera ? Since the XT20 is not weather sealed .... :/
Wanderlust na. Humidity won't be a problem. Weather sealing is more for rain, or frost. The only problems I had was leaving air conditioned rooms into the heat which fogged my lens up.

Tai Tran 24 fps for simplicity, and I just stuck to 60 on the shutter speed. I know that's not exactly the 180 rule but it's just a guide. Rules are mean to be broken. At 60fps in shot at 125.

Thanks so much for comment. I spent a lot of time on those images. To be honest you can get great colour directly out of the Fuji Cameras, but I've been editing images longer than I've been taking pictures. So I went through all of those in Lightroom. Thank you for reply by the way :)
Hey Thomas. Two setups here. 4k 24fps, and 1920 60fps. The XT20 only offers 60fps, for my needs I think I'd have missed a lot of scenes by having 120fps or higher. Sometimes too many options is bad thing. All done in Premiere Pro.
