Wow, you made that look so easy. Everyone says they are having a hard time trying to change it. But thanks a lot. I appreciate it. You're video.

Always appreciate your videos, which is why I always give your prices the first look and consider the video part of the cost.

Thanks for the video. My 2004 Liberty had an extra skid plate over the transfer case that had to be removed, but other than that, great video!

I watched every video on TH-cam before attempting the starter on my 2002 Liberty. None of them were like mine.
I had like these big bell looking things welded to the exhaust pipe under where it hooks to the exhaust manifold. No way to clear them.
I ended up using a rotary grinder and shaving a little off the lip of the bell housing.
I don't know if 2002 being the first year of the Liberty makes a difference, maybe they changed a few things the following year.

If you wanna do this job the easy way pull the driveshaft loose scoot it back then remove the pinion flange oodles of room doing it this way.

I dont know what's up with THIS ride...but mine has 4 brake lines and cable that all make the top starter mounting bolt almost impossible. Also...he has the comfort of a lift. Just know that the ease with which this is done is FAR from actuality

Jacking up the front of your car while spinning your wheels spinning not turning will allow you to spin that drive shaft

This video is wrong and misleading. The 2002 3.7 jeep liberty is not the same as this.

Any possible way to remove and replace starter without removing the drive shaft?

Here is what I did. It varies to your year vehicle. Spacing can be different. I would have made a video but I was swearing to much doing this. For 2004. You can’t sneak it out without removing or detaching something.
This job can be a nightmare. For my 2004 Liberty. I removed the clamp to the exhaust / manifold which allowed me to slide the starter out when clamp was removed. I didn’t take my drive shaft off. Small air tool with a 10 mm deep well socket. It’s a pain to work on the ground but I did it. Take nut all the way off. The exhaust will come down plenty to get the starter out.
To put the clamp back on. Thread the nut on a turn or two to hold the clamp together.
Place the clamp in between joints position the clamp so you can get the air tool up there to drive it home.
I used a floor jack to hold the pipe up in its position. Position the jack about in the middle of the vehicle to jack the pipe up just enough to hold tight while you clamp it back together.
The big bolts off the back of the starter I Cracked them loose with a stubby socket wrench than used an air tool to take them completely out. You will need a swivel neck adapter and extensions for the angle while using the tool for the big starter bolts. Be prepared to get banged up a bit doing all this. Lol. My biggest problem that held me up was figuring out how to get the exhaust clamp back on. Well this is how you do it. After researching that clamp is not cheap so don’t hack it. Nightmare is over.

It’s pretty easy to remove the drive shaft. Just clean the area with brake clean and wipe it. Get a marker then mark on each side where the bolts went. 8 mm. Used a electric ratchet by Milwaukee and came out in 5 minutes.

Totally! I've done it on my jeep liberty 3.7l a few times. It's a Lil tight but slides right out.

You know I've watched four videos today on how to remove a starter from a liberty and let me just tell you all something you were watching this video you already know that the statement that I'm about to say that's this there's not enough room for two hands up inside that area in fact I don't know how you got the starter out and there's no heat shield on yours that's not forget that most important part you got to get a heat shield off that started before you can get it out of there this is the dumbest video along with the other four videos I watched ever you are working with different
