    It's so refreshing to hear a young man playing drums with a real ear for dynamics and various touches on the drums and cymbals. I am a fan!

    Your relaxed approach allows you to get a great sound out of the drums. Great ideas, touch, cymbals and tuning. You got it all. Best of luck to you, keep up the terrific work.

      That rubber bullet on the Tom holder will dig a dent in your wood finish, contact gauger percussion for a rims mount, with my help he designed a half plate that will custom fit the Gretsch Tom mount bracket. The Gretsch mount is a 2 point garbage system. The rims are cheap garbage, be care full threading your tension rods on these drums, it is not quality stuff, put tape on your hoop and lug, make sure you thread the same rods into the lugs! If you get the antique burst, be careful, any thing will nick the finish up (hold that drum key at all times!). Other wise, good drums for the bread, I talked musicians friend down to $584 on them.

    Love that kit. Your tuning sounds GREAT as does your playing ~ I'm trying to find a quality, very smooth pedaled, tension adjustable hi-hat stand . What brand /model are you using here? Is it a DW9000? Been looking at Pearl Eliminator HH1000 but it's a chain drive and I was wondering about those direct drive chainless models thinking they may be smoother and faster. Have you ever tried those? Keep on creating your drum-groove vids & let me know about your hi-hat stand ~🔥🌟

    • @quinhanson7657
      @quinhanson7657  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I haven't used any direct drive hi-hat stands, I'm using the DW ultralight 6000 stand right now. I really like it and I think it's smooth enough. Hope that helps and thanks for the support.

    Fantastic playing and feel, nice phrasing and melodic sensibility, you'lI go far.
    I agree in regards the recording setup.
    I was actually quite surprised when I read that it was just a single overhead and kick mic, sounds really good and works well for a classic bop sound, nice work dude.

    Hi, great playing, and great sound from the kit, I've got the previous Catalinas, walnut galaze, and somehow I cannot get this sound. I know much depends on the heads. I've got all stock reso heads, remo vintage A on the mounted tom and floor tom, and emperor suede on the snare drum, tuned quite high up in jazz style. What heads do you have on this kit? Is that possible that the new Cats have been upgraded and got better sound characteristics? Ot that laquer finish kit sounds not as good as satin finish?

    • @quinhanson7657
      @quinhanson7657  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Those heads are Remo Skyntones on the toms and a vintage A on the snare with all stock reso heads, also, coated P3 on kick batter and fiberskyn on reso. The finish doesn't affect the sound but they might have upgraded the shell quality. Hope that helps.
