    Welcome to Band-Maid! The best hard rock band I have heard in my 58 years on this planet. They don't stick to any one genre and often mix genres in songs. They are extremely diverse and have an extensive back catalogue featuring Punk, Pop-Punk, Hard-Rock, Classic Rock, Metal, Prog, Blues, Jazz, Groove, Rap etc. From face melting 220 bpm punk-prog to ballads, instrumentals to acoustics they do it all. They can make you headbang, they can make you pogo, they can make you cry like a baby. They are also five of the nicest people in music, without a shred of ego. They are funny and fun and world class musicians to boot. They are currently into their 11th year with the original line up.

    Band Maid is a musician’s band. And an engineer’s band. Like Rush before them, they are progressive and fearless in songwriting, but somehow make the complexity fun and entertaining.
    Your ears will be rewarded by exploring their back catalog. If you liked this one? You haven’t heard anything yet.
    For you, I would respectfully recommend these Band Maid gems:
    “From Now On,” official music video. Metal instrumental
    “Secret My Lips,” official music video. Studio track over live footage.
    “Puzzle,” official live. An example of their dense, cinematic prog/pop rock

If you don't know who the members are there is Akane on drums, Misa on bass, Kanami on lead guitar, Miku on rhythm guitar/vocals and Saiki the lead singer. I'm always happy when a reactor with a good feel for music and a musical background enjoys Band Maid. They offer so much in EVERY song for music experts like you. Great "job" 😄I immediately subscribed! And I can tell: You will love ALL of their songs. You recognized so much from this single song that are core features of Band Maid: The bass lines, the backing vocals, breaking the rules, their live performance ....
    These ladies are masters at their instruments: Kanami (composer and lead guitar), Akane (drums) and Misa (bass). Then there is lead vocalist Saiki who is perfect for the Band Maid sound and Miku Kobato (rythm guitar, pure energy, most lyrics, fantastic backing vocals and harmonies). Miku wasn't able to play the guitar in 2013 when she founded the band: You may later want to watch the wonderful documentaries by Ohrenje!
    I don't know of any other band where the fans' playlists differ so much. So, this is just a quite random selection of songs: For some very special live videos try Freedom, Play, Real existence and Endless Story. With Moratorium (Live at Zepp), Rinne (MV) and Dice you can hear more hard rock while more catchy songs are Choose me (MV), Bestie (MV) and Alone (MV). And if you want to hear some ballads then maybe About Us (MV) and Daydreaming (MV) are good picks. But don't miss some of their instrumentals like From now on (MV) and Onset (Live). And finally a very special live performance is Manners/Blackhole (Official Online Live: 'Blackhole' IS 'harmonic chaos' 😀)🍌 And there is more: For example the songs with Miku in lead, their christmas acoustic concert and the 'cover band' Band-Maiko ;-)
    But if you want to start at the beginning of their career (2013-2017) then go with Thrill (MV, their first video), Real Existence (second video), Alone (MV, first own composition), Freedom(best LIVE performance), Choose Me and Play (LIVE!)
    Some other band recommendations? Then try "The Sixsters" from Ukraine (pick any song) and "Gacharic Spin" from Japan (song: "Mindset").
    Have fun... Can't wait to see more ... Po 🕊
    By the way: You have a nice collection of band reactions (e.g. Feuerschwanz, Saltatio Mortis, The Warning). I wonder how you discovered "The Warning" months ago and didn't know about "Band Maid" since today. You must have stumbled over their name previously 😀Both bands join for a concert in Japan in the near future.
    Another song recommendation (just listen to it or react to it): "Warriors of the world" (Manowar cover) by a collaboration of Feuerschwanz, Saltatio Mortis, Melissa Bonny and Thomas Winkler. And a really fun video is "Ding" by Feuerschwanz!

    Bass solos are commonplace with Band Maid. Their bassist, Misa, is exceptional and basically plays lead bass. Their rhythm guitarist/2nd vocal, Miku Kobato, is actually the band’s founder, and was originally the lead singer, and didn’t play guitar when they started. She adapted because her voice didn’t really have the power for the style they wanted to play, so they recruited the current lead singer.
    That history left a bit of a gap to fill while she was learning to play guitar, and I think that led to Misa filling it in and giving them a really cool sound.

    Oh my gosh, you have opened the floodgates. They may be the best rock group in the world today (I think they are). They are certainly the most creative band since the Beatles.
    Yes, I stand by that statement! I saw many of the classic rock bands - Purple, Zeppelin, Queen, Santana, many more, all in their heyday. I’ve seen Band-maid three times and their performances stand up to any of those legendary bands.
    You are going to get a lot of suggestions. First, a little background on the band:
    Saiki Atsumi - Lead vocals Born Feb 8, 1994
    MISA - Bass Born Oct 15, 1992
    Kanami Tono - Lead guitar, Main composer and arranger Born Sept 28, 1991
    Miku Kobato - Rhythm guitar, backing vocal Born Oct 21, 1991
    Akane Hirose - Drums Born Dec 14, 1990
    Miku was working in a Maid Café after being in an idol group that didn’t break through. She envisoned the idea of a maid-band that plays hard rock and metal. She recruited Kanami, after finding a Kanami guitar cover on line; Kanami then recruited Akane, who recruited MISA. Akane and MISA had been students together at the Tokyo Music Academy. The group decided they needed more vocal “oomph”, and collectively recruited Saiki. Miku didn't know how to play guitar when they started, so Kanami has been teaching her. She's become good so fast that she is really adding to the music mix, and Maidiacs are daring to dream of a dual shred.
    The band was struggling early on, and in 2014, even as the label was considering dropping them, they posted the music video for “Thrill” which went viral globally. When they realized what was going on, it gave them the momentum to forge ahead, and they have now done multiple tours of Europe and the U.S. and are building a global fanbase who call themselves the Maidiacs.
    They have released seven full albums, as well as several EPs, singles and music videos. They have put out around 170 songs, covering a wide variety of styles and sounds, without any duds. They combine a punk vibe with instrumental virtuosity (two things that are often seen as being incompatible), and have done some amazing progressive-rock songs with a metal edge to them.
    They toured the U.S. in 2022 and sold out 14 cities in less than 48 hours. They followed it up with a 2023 tour which had to be expanded from their original plans. Their fan base skews heavily to actual practicing musicians. Some of those followed the band to multiple dates and documented everything on youtube-some of the footage is hilarious.
    I’ve seen them in 2019, 2022 and 2023. Their shows are truly life-reaffirming. So far no announcements of another European tour but it seems likely in 2024.
    Band-Maid are that rare band that sound perfect live, even better than in the studio. Everything they have posted from their 10thAnniversary concert in Yokohama is absolute fire-I have bought the DVD and recommend you do too. 33 songs, 3 hours of insanity.

    And an official MV, one of their most popular: Daydreaming (it’s a slower ballad, gorgeous and truly heart-wrenching): th-cam.com/video/RCaeUkrItyY/w-d-xo.html
    If you want more background, I suggest you react to this classic interview. It's hilarious, it's insightful, you will learn their names for good, and their cuteness will destroy your brain. Oh, and they are completely nuts. th-cam.com/video/R4PofsQYwn4/w-d-xo.html

    The colour of Kanami's PRS is 'Angry Larry' named for the former high level employee Larry Urie who would supposedly turn reddish purple when he got mad. She does have a beautiful proper Purple PRS (advertised as Violet Black) but she never seemed to use it a whole lot.

    MISA's bass is the call here and Kanami's guitar is the response, though they reverse this pattern in another superb song from this same concert, DON'T YOU TELL ME. Akane on drums often gets overlooked during these sections but she is always there providing the framework for MISA and Kanami to build their stupendous 'duels' on. If I was asked to narrow down some of their songs for other Band-Maid reactions, I would have to include....their 120+ song back catalogue, all the live performances of those songs, their 14 song acoustic gig and anything they release in future. That's as concise as I can make it! But then they are THE best Hard Rock band in this or any parallel universes.

    Great reaction Man!!! So good that I have subscribed. Band Maid is most likely the best metal/rock band out there today. Their musicianship, songwriting, and vocals are superb. I hope you find the wherewithall to listen to more from them. You won't regret it. I'm looking forward to journeying with you into a musical future. Again very knowledgeable reaction! I was lucky enough to catch them live in Salt Lake City of all places last summer. and they are every bit as good as this. They are mind boggling and sensory destroying in concert. Great reaction, lot of fun. Feel free to rewind and analyze something that gets your attention. I enjoy listening to experts breaking things down. Check out one of their studio recordings. Try the MVs for Blooming and From Now On . Also, they have some heavily post produced live performances. Check out Corallium Live at Shibuya Eggman. I'd like to hear your take on what they did. By the way, they use backing tracks that often have additional vocal layers, horns, keyboards, etc. The lead guitar/songwriter creates the backing tracks in the demos but I bet she gets help in the studio, especially lately as their resources have grown. Check out something from one of their COVID era streaming concerts to hear it clearly. Try Manners/Black Hole Official Live Video. As a bonus, Black Hole is totally insane.

    Welcome, Mr. Chaos. You are embarking on (along with many others - over 200 million YT views plus over 40 million reactor plays!) an awesome, progressive, hard-rock journey with 5 incredible women. Here's my intro blurb for those who may be new to Band-Maid:

    BAND-MAID’s songs and sound beat with the heart and soul of all rockers. But you’ll also hear heavy influences of Prog, Punk, Metal and Pop, with nice touches of Blues, Jazz, Funk and Grunge. Sometimes they use multiple genres within the same song. Their Composition, Execution, Joy of Playing, Consistency (130+ songs), Uniqueness, Charisma, Charm and, oh yeah, Cuteness factor, position them as becoming the hard rock Beatles of our time! In other words, they’re destined for mega-stardom.
    Each member's personalities are super interesting and their musicianship among the best. Their writing, arrangements and overall sound, especially guitar tones and drums, are kick-ass! Having seen them LIVE, I can honestly say their performance, sound, stage appearance, and band synergy is off-the-rails spectacular!
    Band-Maid is the only band in decades where I love nearly EVERY song they’ve done. I have over 70 favorites! "Thrill" (2014) is a great place to start: th-cam.com/video/Uds7g3M-4lQ/w-d-xo.html Their songs from albums Unleash, Unseen World, Conqueror, World Domination, Just Bring It, Brand New Maid, and New Beginning drive even more - Shambles, Warning, No God, Different, Black Hole, Rinne, Blooming, Moratorium, Domination, Clang, Dice, Spirit, Don’t You Tell Me, Turn Me On, Fate, Play, Hide-And-Seek, Secret My Lips, Puzzle, Choose Me, I Can’t Live Without You, and on and on.
    But don’t miss out on their powerful, beautifully written, mid-tempo songs like Daydreaming, Bestie, About Us, Memorable, Anemone, Endless Story, PAGE, At The Drop Of A Hat, Mirage and Smile... or more punky like After Life, Don’t Let Me Down and Screaming… or funky like Bubble… or bluesy like Manners and The Dragon Cries… or poppy like Start Over… or a bit jazzy like Wonderland… or progressive like No God, Giovanni, and Black Hole… or cultural like the Band-Maiko series… or instrumentals like From Now On, Don’t Be Long, Onset, Without Holding Back and Going Nuts… or their many acoustic versions like Catharsis and Sayonakidori... and last but not least, their Anime hits (AniMaid) like Sense, Glory and Unleash!!!!! (from their own Anime MV (series?)): th-cam.com/video/7LB_EPS48HE/w-d-xo.html)
    And many songs are represented with over 50 well produced music videos. th-cam.com/users/BANDMAID
    Most performances should be experienced from their LIVE audience & online OKYUJI concerts:
     2023 Yokohama 10th Year Anniversary Concert “Endless Story” th-cam.com/video/Za1y-RRVd70/w-d-xo.html
     ONLINE OKYU-JI (Feb. 11, 2021) “No God” th-cam.com/video/nAdWnIRjGak/w-d-xo.html
     Tokyo's LINE CUBE SHIBUYA (February 14, 2020) “Domination” th-cam.com/video/QbyQCJn6rYg/w-d-xo.html
     ZEPP 2018 “Real Existence” th-cam.com/video/-qQnKILR5u0/w-d-xo.html
     Shinkiba Studio Coast 2017 and other full concerts are on bandmaidprime.tokyo, bili, and official Band-Maid’s DVD/BD/CD.
    And some of the better quality fan videos are excellent. Here’s two of what it’s like to see Band-Maid LIVE at an intimate venue:
     Shot by Pat McKee from their 2023 US tour concert in Detroit: th-cam.com/video/DgxU-MVjta0/w-d-xo.html
     See the Maids 2023 Rockville Festival’s short-set perfection performance: th-cam.com/video/vjZkNeoGmhc/w-d-xo.html
    If you like Band-Maid, make sure to support them by purchasing some concert tickets, CD, DVD/BD & Merch, etc. bandmaid.tokyo
    Like most Band-Maid songs, I like them from the get-go but really start to appreciate them after more hearings and seeing their LIVE videos. I'll go back and see an older song like YOLO, Order, Shake That, Freezer, Before Yesterday, Real Existence, Non Fiction Days and Alone, etc. and realize there's no band that can consistently construct and play like Band-Maid.

    Band-Maid Members:
    Saiki Atsumi (Sy-i-Key or Psyche) “StarQueen" - Lead vocals, arrangements and melodies. At 30 and the youngest, “Sensei” (Teacher) as band members call her, has the last word on many musical decisions. High-heels or sneakers, Sai-chan’s smile melts away her sometimes perceived, coldish persona. Saiki’s powerhouse performances, charisma, and voice focus the experience that’s driven her to the top echelon of hard rock frontwomen... or frontmen!
    Miku Kobato (Me-Ku) "Small Pigeon" - Rhythm guitar, vocals, lyricist, 32 years old. “Koba”, as Saiki calls her, is the Band founder and a firecracker MC & PR SpokesPigeon, po! Her “Magic Spell Time” charm and energy ignite the room. Kuruppo! No, no, no… KURUPPO!!
    Kanami Tono (Ka-Na-Me) “Princess” - Lead guitar, keyboards, 32 years old, is a prolific writer of most Band-Maid material. Kanami (translates “Song Wave”) is a possessed riff-slayer who’s so damn adorable it hurts. The only thing you want from Mincho is more!
    Akane Hirose (A-Ka-Nay) "Gorilla" - Drums, 33 years old, band energizer & co-clown with MISA. Achi’s talents include massive consumption of noodles and bananas, of course, (even during performance!) while revolutionizing rock drumming with relentless drive, dynamics and the kick. This “DrumZilla” is the Party!
    MISA (Me-Sa) "Barefoot Assassin" - Bass, 31 years old. An alluring free spirit driving her 5-string to rapturous low-ends while pulling off surprising counter leads with Kanami, off-stage MISA is the band’s goofball ballerina. Sometimes seen as the Mysterious One because she lets her instrument do the talking, the Assassin literally kills it… every note... uniting Band-Maid’s world-class rhythm section. A slug of JB, a slight grin, and let the slappin’ begin… MISA! MISA! MISA!
    Maidiacs (Maid-e-acts) - Band-Maid’s crazed yet supportive, knowledgeable and loyal Super Fans.
    [BAND-MAID NEWS]
     BAND-MAID PRIME - Special Video Distribution Website. Along with nearly 50 great play-through’s by each member, concerts and skits, Band-Maid management / label(s) have included the Acoustic Christmas 2021, ZEPP 2018 and Shinkiba Studio Coast 2017 concerts! Fans can now see more than 50 great live performances with awesome audio, etc. like Fate, I Can't Live Without You and the great MISA / Kanami exchange in Don't You Tell Me. Those concerts are two of the best produced & performed concerts ever recorded, IMO. bandmaidprime.tokyo
     The Maids SOLD OUT 2023 US & Mexico tour wrapped up and was a fantastic success. And so many great live fancams to watch! Their playing and antics were as fresh and fun to experience from first show to last. BRAVO Band-Maid!!!!! In addition, their Japan tour finished up with 13 concerts, AND they’re writing and recording for their new album. Their 10th Anniversary Tour concluded at Japan’s 17,000 seat Yokohama Arena on Nov. 26, 2023 and in Hong Kong Dec. 21! And their latest 10TH ANNIVERSARY TOUR SPIN OFF concert at KT ZEPP YOKOHAMA on February 22, 2024, where they played songs not performed at the 10th anniversary tour final at Yokohama Arena, was SOLD OUT!
     📢 JUST ANNOUNCED 📢

I've heard a lot of different music in my time and no band has come close to as many songs as I love as from them. That includes AC/DC, Beatles, INXS, and more! One thing I think that's great about them is that they are not locked into doing a particular type of rock. They will do near-metal, pop-punk, classic, progressive, and even a little jazz!

    Minor correction - when you said you don't usually hear just a bass solo, but a bass and drum duet, it WAS a duet between MISA on the bass and AKANE on the drums - same as when KANAMI was playing the guitar.
    They have a LOT of tracks where they do play true solos', MIKU, the rythym guitar and second lead singer - she sometimes takes lead, so NOT "just a back-up singer - and even SAIKI, the lead singer, have their own solos. Some are under their "arch -nemisis" alter-ego band "Band-Maiko".

    This reactor should watch reactions by Rock Candy, for example, to watch how a masterful commentator reacts to all aspects of a song: bass lines, drum fills, bridges, harmony, melody, lyrics, composition, drops, chorus etc. and is able to do so without chopping the song . This fellow seems to comment the instance a thought pops into his head rather than coalescing his thoughts and giving meaningful commentary a moment after. Rather, he will interrupt a riff three or four times instead of commenting after its conclusion.

    • @daaaaaave
      @daaaaaave หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      I like Rock Candy, but let people find their own styles. His format with an uninterrupted playthrough will get him in copyright trouble with a lot of artists. He also listens to it repeatedly before talking through his thoughts, and not everyone has the time to do that.

    So, there are four all female Japanese bands that comes as a kind of package. And those are
    * BAND-MAID
    * Lovebites
    * Nemophila
    * Hanabie
    OK, there are more fantastic Japanese bands, but those four tends to be reacted to by the same reactors.
    BAND-MAID and Lovebites you now have seen and done one reaction to each. They are worth more! Both of them have nearly 100 bangers each. Its incredible. Both of them are best live, but they also have several good music videos.
    Nemophila is a very competent group consisting of top notch musicians. They go hard live. You cannot go wrong with any official live video. They have older live videos of questionable sound quality. But the official ones is fire! The also have bunch of very good music videos. Lastly, they have done lots of cover, mostly of classic rock, for their own amusement in the rehearsal studio of the drummer. They are outstanding and fun.
    Hanabie is a rather new group. They do not have all that many songs, but those they have are fantastic. Here I recommend music videos. Partly because they are so fun, by also because they have much better audio quality than their live ones. I recommend you to start with the official version of "We love sweets".

    Great reaction, though the constant pauses during the guitar duel were kind of painful.

      @@miqoto Well, it doesn't sound like just an irritation 🤣 For me, the lyrics make this song so special ... and of source the solos, but we know those from many other songs. But otherwise Band Maid's lyrics are mostly positive, and that's a good thing. Let's wait and see if he discovers "Don't let me down" and listens more closely: One of the few songs complete with English lyrics, and they are really special
