    Ah bless you for sharing your June make, not every blogger would be so open and ask us to laugh with you.... (I did - but more at your response then the resulting shorts) sewing is such a huge learning curve - as it should be 😉 long may you carry on learning and sharing your sewing journey with us you lovely lady xx

    Great sewing plans and I truly can’t wait to see your “anniversary” collection! I can totally understand when you say how busy you’ve been...I just got back from vacation and felt like I never got ANYTHING done! As far as laughing...🤣🤣🤣! I was rolling when you started doing your dance, LOVED IT!! My first pair of shorts of the year turned out to big too and I just learned from you to laugh about it! (Because you can always remake it! And I did!)

    You do yourself an injustice on your comments about your shorts. I think it sounds like you did all the right things.But from my years of experience of making skirts and pants I have learned never to make anything with pleats or gathers at the front of the garment. Whilst I can get away with making dresses like that I have always found that the waisted garments have never been anywhere near flattering on me. They emphasise the belly and like yours never ever seem to hang like the ones on the slim models or the pattern photos.
    If it were me I'd give that pattern a wide berth and find a culotte style pattern with a more flattering front. 10/10 for making them. ;-)
    Enjoy your holidays. ;-)

    • @SewNaturalDane
      @SewNaturalDane  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Oh no, no injustice at all. I'm just not taking myself that seriously, that's why I say "laugh it's okay". I know with this pattern, the things I would normally do wasn't really necessary, but that's where the learning for me came in; as I've never done a pattern like this before so I had no idea the outcome would be like this - LOL! Now I know. I actually think it's a good pattern and will do it again without all that fussing around with adjustments that I did. I actually like the front on this pattern. I'll know for sure once I do it again whether I'll hang on to it, so not giving up on it yet. Thanks for commenting

    As a fellow plus size girl I know what was going to happen before I saw those shorts. During your list of adjustments made I muttered that's too much. lol! Keep trying though, I was tiny when I learned to sew and I'm not anymore so I totally get the fit problem. I bomb sometimes too so know you are not alone!

    • @SewNaturalDane
      @SewNaturalDane  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Joanne, THANK YOU....as I was preparing to make the adjustments, I was thinking "um, this looks like to much" but I powered on, not taking into consideration the finished garment measurements or drape of the final garment - LOL! But hey, I just laugh, it's all good, I'm still learning. Thanks for watching.

  • @laurajones4088
    @laurajones4088 6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

  • @pizzabirdog
    @pizzabirdog 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    I just finished making this pattern. I could.not see a finished garment size for the waist or hips maybe it's because of the elastic. So when I started making the pleates I made them narrow to give me a better fit as I thought the waist looked too small.... big mistake, I forgot about the actual waist band and had to draft a larger piece, in the end they were so big, but I made the elastic shorter. They fit ok, but making another pair without any adjustments. Hoping the front will hang better as it looks a bit like a nappy when I walk hahaha.

    I am not sure ...would you recommend that i do a size 18, which has a finished waist measurement of 35.5", or a straight size 20??

    • @SewNaturalDane
      @SewNaturalDane  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      For this one, I highly recommend doing the size 18 in a muslin first. I truly did find that this pattern ran extremely big even if you are focusing on your measurements. You may find you need to grade between sizes. Hope that helps, but definitely do a muslin first.

    I have those pants and this is the reason I am so scared of making them! LOL I was worried about what edits I should and shouldn't make. Do I graded in at the waist like I usually do? Do I make them bigger at the hips like I normally would? I just want them to have the same finished look as they are intended! Oh well, I guess I'll just have to trial and error them like you. Thanks for sharing!

      This fabric was tricky, I had no idea it would fray like this until after I started handling it, otherwise that most certainly would have helped - LOL! It's okay to laugh, we can't take sewing so seriously as we are continuing to learn and I'm still learning. Thanks so much for watching.
