The fact that he has people like Larry David cracking up shows how much of a comic genius he really is.
They know each other, robert smigel (triumph voice/puppeteer) was on curb which is probably why kept cutting to him

My favorite part of all this might be how much Robert DeNiro clearly hates it.
I just realized he was the only one off camera for the majority of this. He must've had one mean face.
He honestly probably has no clue why the fuck he is even there lol...they always have an older actor there to fuck around with but the funniest thing is that de niro has turned down more roles than most of these people have actually gotten

Robert smigel (the guy who voices triumph) is a hilarious dude he doesnt get much credit outside of triumph
I dont think he does a lot of media appearances outside of Triumph.
He's become more known for his Triumph bits, definitely, but he gets deserved credit for his other work... well, most of it at least. His acting is a real coin flip on whether it's decent or not. Pretty good writer/etc. though.

Small world true story, I’m a union HVAC mechanic in NYC, years back I went to do a service call on the upper west side of Manhattan and my boss told me that the name of the customer was Smigel. I go to the call and I meet Robert having no idea who he is at the time, I overhear him and his wife talking to the baby sitter in the next room and she’s thanking them for tickets that they gave her to SNL (the show where Jessica Simpsons sister got caught lip syncing). I finish my work and leave, I happen to go there again one day months later too for another service call. Then maybe a year or so later I’m watching Little Nicky and I see the name Robert Smigel in the credits, I’m like no way this can’t be the same guy who’s apartment I worked in, and it was, lol. Absolutely amazing that I’ve laughed and watched tons of material he’s written and I didn’t even know who he was when I was there, the man is brilliant and a comedy genius, “push this button and you get free HBO”.
