    I wouldn't have taken a lens like this seriously if it weren't for your channel. This lens isn't cheap but its results seem to be worth the price. I no longer have my 100mm or 100-400mm but I suppose it should work well on the 70-200 2.8. Great job on this, Peter!

    Hi! I am so glad I found your review. It is very comprehensive for me, thank you! My question is, if I use the 58mm version on my Canon 100mm macro vs the 77mm version what will be the difference in the images I can create? At this time I want to get the 58mm one to try on my Canon 50mm f1.4. I love this 50mm lens because of how wide open it can get and I want to see what the close up filter can do on it. But I dont mind getting the 77mm one as well if it provides significant additional advantages. Thank you!

    • @peterviragphoto
      @peterviragphoto  4 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Hi Smita. If I could recommend one closeup lens at this stage I’d go for the 49mm Nisi one to maximise magnification and essentially double to 2:1 instead of the 77 mm and I really like that setup and I usually pair it with my Laowa 90mm as well. Cheers

    • @smitaghosh6133
      @smitaghosh6133 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@peterviragphoto Thank you so much!! When you use the smaller diameter close-up filter on the larger diameter lens face is there loss of light or some image quality? Do you need to compensate in some way? Just for my clarification. Thanks!

    • @peterviragphoto
      @peterviragphoto  4 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Vignetting is very negligible, e.g. on the Laowa 90mm which has 67mm filter size too, I never have to adjust much in post and the sharpness doesn’t suffer. Cheers

      @peterviragphoto  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hey James. Yes, I was very impressed with the results tbh and doesn’t affect image quality or you’d have to pixel peep quite a bit to find anything, especially in the centre of the frame. Cheers

    Hello! Tell me, why macro photography needs that equipments as Flash and other covers to take photos so close? I mean, u cannot do that only with the lens?

    • @peterviragphoto
      @peterviragphoto  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi. This is a reflector/diffuser kit. For macro ( especially beyond 1:1 magnification) you need a strong artificial light source that is diffused to properly illuminate your subject. Cheers

    I have the RF version of this lens on an R6 Mk 2. The lens, without any attachments, achieves 1.4x magnification at a minimum distance of 26cm (from the sensor or about 10cm from the front of the lens). If I added the NiSi 77mm to the front of this lens, do you think it would work? It's min distance is already much more than the naked lens (22cm vs 10cm). If you set your camera up at a distance of 25cm from the target and add the NiSi 77mm but don't move the camera, would the image be enlarged or look the same?

    • @peterviragphoto
      @peterviragphoto  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Simon. I would suggest buying either the 58mm ( +5 diopter ) or the new 9 diopter 49mm close-up lenses instead:
      nisifilters.com.au/product/nisi-close-up-lens-kit-nc-58mm-with-49-and-52mm-adaptors/ref/peterviragphoto/
      nisifilters.com.au/product/nisi-close-up-lens-kit-nc-49mm-with-62-and-67mm-adaptors/ref/peterviragphoto/
      Both of the above would work better with the RF version & provide you with more magnification. Re how the MFD would be affected you can check out my reviews and make an estimation. I haven’t got the RF version but the results would be similar. Cheers
