My first Synth ever was a KORG Polysix in 1985 wow! Even when the digital DX7 terrorized the market then, i looooved my Polysix! Sold it in 2000 but never regret it. it was old and needed attention and cleaning. Nice that i can use the Polysix on my iPads now. True Story
This might be your best video so far Haq, i have iMono/Poly already but this opened this synth up more to my eyes even with how saturated in apps to learn I already am. Im not a novice but I learnt something and you are right that this synth is worth recommending to anyone. Very professional stuff. Keep it up dude.
I just bought the iMono/Poly like a week ago! The presets sound so good but i honestly i wanted to make my own sounds.. that was a lot harder then i was expected... but now that I’m armed with the knowledge in this video i cant fail!! Keep great content coming Jakob!
Your videos are so polished, Bro - WOW! 😍 The Riff you play @4:12 is so smooth and chill - LOVE IT 👊 Also, @6:55 😲😲 !! Keep up the amazing work, Jakob! 👏
Hi Jakob, I love making music with Korg Gadget on my Ipad Pro 9.7. Your tutorials are awesome and your unique style of narrating is coool! Keep on doing 💁🏾♀️💜🌍🌿🌱✨
So I have an original Mono/Poly, and I just purchased iMono/Poly. I am controlling it from a Korg Nautilus. I cannot for the life of me figure out how to make a simple vibrato on the joystick(modwheel). On the actually Mono/Poly its pretty simple, switch mg 1 to pitch, set your speed and amount and away you go. How do you do it with this?????
Another nice review…… QUESTION: If I send Korg 2 different MIDI note messages on two different MIDI channels and then send CC#7 or volume changes on just ONE of the two MIDI channels, can it properly process the volume change on just ONE of the MIDI channels?
Jacob - I always get A LOT out of your synth review & tutorial vids. Many thanks and keep them coming!! A question on this one, though - I noticed that you've got a Korg nanoKEY controller. I'm thinking of getting one, but it has got somewhat mixed reviews on Amazon. Among the negatives are "cheap" construction, noisy keys, some challenges getting it working with PC/Mac (though I'm only working with iOS). Would you care to share your opinions on this as a controller or have any recommendations for a favored one? Thx!!
Don't know what it is, but just like the vst version, their is a certain sheen(even with all fx off) to the sounds that is a little off putting. Comparing it to DRC, iSEM and Zeeon; to me' M/P doesn't have that rawness the others have. Subjective of course.
Is there a way to drive Korg iOS synths from midi tracks within Cubasis or Garagebands? And route their outputs into the DAW's audio buses? Their iOS synths aren't Audio Units, so they don't show up as plugins. (seems Korg has decided the massive convenience of AU3 is not in their interests - P.I.T.A.) Thanks for any work-arounds! (if you could explain simply - I'm iOS ignorant!)
Fantastically helpful thanks so much. I want to find a way to modulate only noise so I can make really slow sweeping sounds like wind any ideas how to as noise is not a preset and I have been trying to work it out - thanks
I sometimes make shorter videos in where I respond to viewer questions. I upload these videos to my social network pages. Check my Twitter or Facebook account. I just uploaded an answer to your question. 😊👍🏼 (links in description)
IMono in korg gadget is very cut down. Kaoss Pad is not available and so on. Preset saved in full version is not available in korg gadget version. I’m very disappointed.
Hi Jakob, Thank you for your videos, glad I discovered your channel! I don't know whether you read the comments section but still: if I had only one midikeyboard/controller for both my Mac and iPad that is compact and has a few useful knobs and buttons, which one would you recommend?
My choice would be the KORG nanokey Studio. It’s not for everybody because of the size and unconventional keyboard. But I chose this one because it’s got everything I need. Keyboard, pads, buttons, knobs and x/y pad. Plus it’s compact, can be battery powered and also powered over USB by iPad/PC/Mac and via USB battery/power pack. It can also connect wirelessly over Bluetooth. However, please try it out before you order it. Again, it’s not for everybody.
I have both the iMono/Poly and Korg Gadget with Montpellier on my iPad. I created a great patch on the iMono/Poly and I want to be able to load the same patch in Montpellier but I can’t seem to find a way to transfer the patch electronically from one program to the other one. Any suggestions?
Mesmerized by the sound *daydreaming ;) This will also be a purchase for me. Can't go without the iMono/Poly! It's 50% discount at the App Store until August 8, 2018, therefore I have no excuses left! Great video review by the way, Jakob :) Greetings, Emiel.
I can’t tell you wether my music is good or not. It’s a very subjective thing. 😅 I have some music over at my bandcamp. I’ve been working on something called the “Mellow Album” during 2018. I finished the 8th track this week and now I’m working on a video for it. Thing is the videos I make take up most of my time so for about three years, all of the music I made can be found inside my videos. I began focusing on making just music again at the beginning of his year. So I haven’t released that much. Here’s the playlist for the mellow tracks I’ve made so far: th-cam.com/play/PLvNQD1EpaiNOteYLqtRDG8e6BMLXTkHlr.html They also exist on bandcamp and the link to that page is always in the description box under my videos. And here’s the latest EDM track I published: th-cam.com/video/MFG6IKTi_Nk/w-d-xo.html My taste in music is extremely wide and so there isn’t just one genre of music that I produce. I get bored unless I switch it up constantly.
The mono poly is truly top brass! I recently got a korg plugKEY and was wondering can you use korg gadget as a poly timbral synth being controlled by external midi?
Do you mean multi-timbral? If you do then in the case of KORG Gadget there is no way of assigning certain gadgets to certain keyboard sections. For a "multi-timbral" session you'd have to use a MIDI keyboard where you could set certain keyboard sections to play on certain MIDI channels. Like if you had a 4 octave MIDI keyboard. You'd set first two octaves to play on midi channel 1 and the third and fourth octave to play on MIDI channel one. Then just load up two gadgets, make sure that the "advanced midi" mode is turned on so that one can access MIDI I/O settings.
I recently got a digitakt (viva sweden!) and can do multiple midi channel arrangements now with outboard gear. I think the advanced midi menu was the one I am looking for. You are a real gem, Jakob!

Thank you very much! I'm happy you enjoy my content! I'll keep pushing the limits of what can be done with video production on iOS. 🔥

Oooh, that could be the soundtrack for another nice mystery series with an 80's setting
Hehe! I drew my inspiration for this track from the Stranger Things theme. 😊
i know it is kinda off topic but does anyone know a good website to stream new tv shows online ?
@Alberto Kamdyn i use Flixzone. Just search on google for it =)
@Calvin Briggs definitely, been using FlixZone for years myself :D
@Calvin Briggs Thank you, signed up and it seems to work :D Appreciate it !
Yer production quality is becoming so much better! And I love me some long videos so keep it up sir.
Thanks for that inside view Jakob

Just loved how u use ur gadjets. thx for this powerfull information, bro!!!! :D
KEEP TRUE :)
My pleasure! 👊🏼
Nice demo... deep synth... great arp at @6:47

This synth is so deep. Thanks for your great review. I must play with it now! :-)
Yeah this synth is a real killer! 👊🏼
I guess the Montpellier in gadget 2 doesn’t have the X Y iPad. And it doesn’t have a lot of the features that the desktop version has.
Joey is having a Winter sale! Awesome review!
Happy you liked the video! 👊🏼

Jakob, I’ve been enjoying your stuff. What is your experience using imono/poly in beatmaker 3? I hesitate to purchase since it isn’t auv3.
Man I hope Korg updates this to AUV3 .. it’s just a killer plugin 👍 Thankyou Mr. Haq .. always enjoy your vids and humor.
Literally wondering if I should get it right now on th last day of the sale just in case it goes AUV3 this year... like electribe 2 did in 2019

Hi. Does iPad suffice or is better to get ipad pro?
Another great synth that I haven't even looked at, haven't bought anything in well over a year so lots of great stuff has slipped by
This one is pretty meaty! Think you'd really like it!
Fantastically helpful thanks so much. I want to find a way to modulate only noise so I can make really slow sweeping sounds like wind any ideas how to as noise is not a preset and I have been trying to work it out - thanks

Jakob Haq wow Jakob you are genius thanks a million!
This is the go to synth for synthwave, isnt it?
Korg nano key studio good ? Midi Keyboard

They can be uploaded into the gadget version. Has to be done for each new user patch though. Super late reply but others may have the same issue.

I do not speak English. I will translate your letter) Thank you. Super Jakob Hak) Peace)).
Imonopoly is nice but I can get it all with Zeeon and sunrizer synths and even more.
thanks, jakob!
It’s a Beast fo sure!

great Review Jacob! Why "baddest IOS Synth"? Typo?
Andre Wallner Baddest also means best
That's precisely what I meant! ⭐️
I like that track you made
I don’t know how analog it sounds.
