  • PSE ( Pneumatic System Equipment ) Central Locking PSE Vacuum Pump operates the doors, boot ( trunk ), headrests, Multi Contour Backrest (Lumbar Support Bladder all four seats) and fuel cap cover flap with pressure. It either increases or decreases the pressure in the lines causing the movement of pistons in actuators, which in turn move levers in these various latches. The PSE Pump can both create pressure or vacuum. The negative pressure (vacuum) pulled by the PSE Pump operates the retraction of various actuators but it can also function to retract the Boot/Trunk Handle.

    you could consider offering a repair service for these in Australia, there are a few in USA doing it because the genuine replacements and rebuilt units are expensive and the internal failures usually limited to very cheap parts

    Great video really informative I wouldn't have had a clue how to get the airlines off the PSE pump, so you've cleared that right up for me! I've just bought an W210 E55 AMG and the boot is a bit sluggish to open, maybe 5-10 seconds after unlocking it eventually pops, so i'll check all the lines and see if i can get some replacement o-rings. I'm wondering if a super-thin application of silicone o-ring grease might help with the seal?? Just a thought... Cheers mate!

    Excellent video .Hopefully this will help me diagnose and repair my locks--sluggish or not working at all in cold weather. I'm guessing pump is struggling when cold. Probably not a vacuum leak or it would happen in warm weather also. Thanks and cheers from the US.

    • @YepThatsIt
      @YepThatsIt  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      hi, on these pressure or vacuum leak can be like a parasitic draw. the pump can only make x amount of pressure and/or vac, so something else needs to suffer. hope that makes sense. cheers

    Hi mate, good video. I have an R129 late model SL500 1999 and it has the same era of pump on your with the same plugs that you showed how to remove video. Wonder if you can help. The car unlocks with the keyfob but will not lock with the keyfob. When pressing the lock button on the fob you can see the lock knob move down slightly and the car lights flash so it is detecting the signal off the fob. The car also can be manual locked with key in the door barrel and also if sitting in the car there is a lock button which also is locking the car. Do you think it my pump mate? Cheers .

      hi, sounds like it could be pump, however firstly, pull rear seat up and try plugging one line on the PSE at a time to find which one is playing up or leaking just incase one of the seals are leaking. cheers

    Quick question, hopefully your expertise can give some insight on my dilemma, my 03 s430 pse pump recently failed, no power locks, soft close doors, trunk and my rear head rest were not working, so I went to a local junkyard got a pse pump from a 05 s500, threw it in and everything except the trunk works, I noticed the s500 I removed the pump from had the power trunk feature that closes and opens automatically, could this possibly be why my trunk is not working since I have a manual trunk rather than the automatic one from the s500?

    So, what's the outcome of the switch - will it turn off the whole PSE unit, shut off the vehicle? There should be some ventilation for the PSE unit for the fan to cool it down, like a few small holes in the housing.
    Great vid, good info.

    • @YepThatsIt
      @YepThatsIt  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      hi, thanks....point of switch is so it turns off circuit when the temp gets too high for whatever reason it does. cheers

    • @manpreetsandhu7310
      @manpreetsandhu7310 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@YepThatsIt so when the circuit turns off, will that prevent doors from opening? Will car still run normally even though switch turned circuit off?

    • @YepThatsIt
      @YepThatsIt  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@manpreetsandhu7310 switch will work as usual when it cools down. its just like a backup to stop pump motor from burning out. when your system is operating properly it will hold pressure and vacuum so you can open doors, locks, fuel cap, boot, head rests etc. if there is a leak in the lines it will burn out your pump in a short period of time. this is why i add the temp switch. hope that makes sense cheers

    Hello. I have a question about this model of vacuum pumps.
    in my mercedes W210, i have interrupted line of the SRU and it is currently "open" and works in vain.
    I was advised to put a small piece of tube to plug with something in front. in this case I put the "reserve" box for inflatable seats. My question is: does this "clogging" harm the pump in any way? What is the effect of clogging (if any) on the pump itself.

    • @YepThatsIt
      @YepThatsIt  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      hi, no harm will be to pump, just that line will not work by you plugging the line. cheers

    • @user-eo5fz6ic5s
      @user-eo5fz6ic5s 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@YepThatsIt the idea is that the owner before me changed the chip on the car, and cut the line purposefully. The pump orifice is left open, and it inflates when I give the ignition. the idea is to stop it from inflating and from working unnecessarily. To understand that the box I plugged into this hole (again - this is the box of those that stand for the inflatable seat reserve) works. I tried to plug it with a screw, but the pump inflated again (apparently the bolt was leaking) and for that I turned on the pipe with the tube straight.

    • @eyalbarmitzvah
      @eyalbarmitzvah 9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      The seat bolsters usually are the worst source of leaks over time so you can delete the lines to them with a plug or you can use star system to delete the feature. Another simple way is to set your seat button to 0 and tape it so nobody changes that.

    Thanks for your vid and tricks to repair that MB vacuum pomp . One suggestion, though. With the money you saved by using the DIY method to fix it, please buy a better camera because our eyes hurt when watching it ! The thermical protection of that motor is a real security improvment of the system. 2020-05-18. Cheers !

    Hello Mate, We have a 2000 Mercedes S500, and the 20 amp fuse was blown in the compartment on the right side of the rear seat down low at ones feet. I replaced the 20 amp fuse that was blown, then all the doors would lock & unlock....& the trunk would open & close with the KEY FOB, as it did when new. Even the cheap after-market radio that came with this S500 I recently purchased, began to work. The problem is.... the PSE pump will not turn off, as it keeps making noise even after the doors have been closed & the trunk is locked. I can hear it from outside. When I touch the 20 amp fuse...it is extremely hot...so I am sure that is how it blew in the first place since these locking systems did not work when we bought this car 2 weeks ago. The PSE pump keeps running.....even after I have shut down the car & removed my keys from the ignition. Is this caused by leaks in the pneumatic lines, or leaks "ON THE PUMP ITSELF", or a failing pump that needs replacing? I am keeping the fuse out so we do not cause any more damage. Any ideas what to chase after first? Thank you.....
