What a bold initiative by Glenn and the team to bring this car to Bathurst a year before they had to. Great work by his dad in building a high horsepower engine.
1995. Still feel so bad for seton cuz all he wanted to do was just win one (and he did but not in his career) gotta give it to Perkins tho from last to first
Back in 1984 there were two Ford Falcon V8's in Hardie's Heroes. Dick Johnson's Greens-Tuf XE which qualified 3rd with a 2 minute, 14.710 which was the fastest ever time for a 5.8L V8 Ford at Bathurst. The other car was Steve Masterton's XE. He qualified 7th with a 2 minute, 17.055 lap.
2m14s.... Was fast back then... Then Greg Murphy did the 2m06s .... And that was really fast. Now the lap times are even quicker. I still prefer the 80's and 90's cars though
The next year CAMS were so worried about the Falcons they slowed them leading into Bathurst . The falcon Seton had was 6 tenths slower in 1993, and the commodores were assisted to be nearly 3 seconds faster……
The Windsor engine ran on the race track up until such time that blocks couldn't be purches and then Windsor copies were used up until commencement of Gen111. Thats from Allan Moffats Transam Boss 302 until one year ago. Allan Moffats Boss 302 won more races than anyother car in Tin Top racing history. At which point did the 302 let down? Not like the shitty old holden 308 they had to ditch because it wasn't strong enough and sourse Chev 4 bolt 302s from the USA. You confussed it was the 308 that was dropped not the 302
The Holden V8 was banned from use by top tier teams from 94 onwards, because certain teams had a cry about it and the slide throttle intake that Larry dominated with at Bathurst in 93 had an unfair advantage lol. All the money spent on badass racing engines with NASCAR spec iron blocks and aluminium heads only to be smoked by some slightly modified production Holden iron block and heads lol

The noise of the 5L Windsors 😍
They sound nasty, they sound vicious, they sound hard. The only way a V8 should sound.
Remember this very well. Couldn’t wait to see Falcons back on the scene.
You be waiting a long time now unfortunately..
Glen such a natural driver.I felt so bad that year he missed out on winning.Seton is a champion

Before they change Conrod straight.
Add about 5 seconds for the Chase...
He is someone l really wished won that race, dam shame
300 clicks window down & an open face helmet,, fair dinkum the best era in Aussie motorsport in my opinion 👌
fabulous
the engines sound basically the same as the engine in this car 30 years later
Pretty much, until 2019 pretty much all the fords ran different sounding exhausts and sounded amazing, now most of them sound similar
Was up on the mountain . The sound ? Awesome !

The mighty falcon. Better than the Sierra in my opinion.

Far from a Ford fan but far out that was a good looking car to bad the engine let him down
So the car had about the same power as Alan Jones' WIlliams, just with an extra 750kg.
Your point? Oh your trying to be a two bob race snob. Everything in perspective.
