    Brilliant video. And yes you’re right about the manufacturing side…what on Earth are they thinking creating a circuit board instead of us, the consumers being able simply replace a bulb. Thank you for your clarity on the job.

      Yeah it's crazy that these parts are so specific for each fridge. So much for progress and reducing electrical waste.

    My board is flashing rather than dead. But is seems the cause is the same. 1 dodgy LED works fine at low current and goes open circuit at high current.

    • @orbitaaltube
      @orbitaaltube  4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Unfortunately the fix of bridging the bad led only lasted around six months for me. I had to just buy a new board after it started to fail again. Total junk design.

    In my system, the zener diode and led 3 were damaged. I installed the BZX 22 diode and the led from the furniture strip and everything works as it should.

    Hi just saw this video iv got the problem with light not working. How did you power the light strip did you somehow plug into mains ?

    • @orbitaaltube
      @orbitaaltube  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes it was powered off the mains using a fused plug/cable, plugged into an rcd device. I would only recommend doing that if you have had some prior training in electrics or electronics to be aware of the dangers however.

    Hi, does removing one LED light make the the other 2 remaining LED not last long? Due to more power flowing to the other two as they are in series layout ?

    • @orbitaaltube
      @orbitaaltube  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      0.1amps current with one of the LEDs removed which is fine for these LEDs. I mention this right at the end of the video. Still working as of today and the fridge is in everyday use 6months later. thanks for your comment.

      @@orbitaaltube thanks for your video, very helpful video. I prefer the old school appliances where you can just change it as oppose to these days where people just bin it and straight to landfills. Not peoples fault as they have no idea how to fix it.
      If the other two LED goes one day, do you know what type of voltage LED I can change it to? Thanks

    • @orbitaaltube
      @orbitaaltube  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@nemonemo443 yes for sure, much easier to replace a simple bulb. For which LED to use - you need to check that the board is DC and measure the voltage across it while powered on to be sure. A lot of these LEDs should be running around 12v or so but its not guaranteed. Also google lens is a good help in identifying LED types if you need a specific one.

      Sorry I can't help with specific models. Maybe you could find a service manual online for your particular fridge with a diagram.

    • @orbitaaltube
      @orbitaaltube  11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Sorry I can't help to show that. Usually it's just a case of popping off a clear cover and them removing some tabs to extract it. However make sure to switch off the electricity to fridge before you do this.

    How did you get it out? How do you get it back in?

    • @orbitaaltube
      @orbitaaltube  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      This was a Hotpoint fridge and this board just pops out by pressing two clips either side of it. If its not a hotpoint then have a search for your particular model online.

    • @orbitaaltube

    Thank you very much. We get all the propaganda about saving the environment etc. and yet this rubbish is
    becoming widespread. surely at most, a single standard mains voltage LED would be sufficient. My neighbour had to replace his circuit and kept the old one. I wondered at the type of circuit. Are the LEDs available individually?

    • @orbitaaltube
      @orbitaaltube  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yea I believe you can buy individual LEDs as they are all fairly standard but the difficulty is that on this board they have pads underneath that require a heat gun to remove. There should be legislation to enforce a right to repair on these with common mains led bulbs as you suggested.
