It depends what are you checking for. The articulating part thickness ranges from 20-200 microns. The thicker ones are used for detecting heavier contacts and is good for initial bite checks. So if you suspect there is a very high point you can use the thicker ones first. The thinner ones can help achieve balanced occlusion without interference in centric and eccentric occlusion. However, Shimstock thickness is 8-13 microns. It is thinner than articulating papers and typically used for finer occlusal adjustments typically when adjusting occlusion in indirect restorations but can also be used for direct restorations.
Mam i had RCT on my right on lower first molar. After having crown i feel my teeth is hitting only crowned tooth and not other tooth are touching while bite. My dentist told me he will grind the crown. Will this work
High points are managed the same whether amalgam or composite restorations. The darker points or bulls eye points are considered high points. So remove them gently with light pressure until occlusal is even with even color points on all teeth. You remove high points on amalgam with a low speed finishing bur. You can check the finishing and polishing of amalgam restoration videos to see the instrument used. You remove high points on composite restorations with a high speed diamond point. You can check the finishing and polishing of composite restoration videos to see the instrument used.
Not enough information on unequal force...You could also cause pain by changing what you think is high point....Patient should come back. With silver fillings it mold to the bite more readliy higher customer success no pain.

Doctor can you tell us the preferred thickness for articulating paper to check for high points

Good explanation
Thank you
What about if i did an overlay or crown? How do i know that the high of the those rest are good? Do you have a video for that Doc?
I do not have a video but it is the same technique using Shimstock because it is very thin (8-13 microns).
@@drafnanoalzain Thank you Doc, I'll try it out.
Thank you doctor

Cheers.

Hello, sorry to hear that. Yes, grinning the crown will work. It’s most likely high I few tenth of a millimeter so grinding it will solve the problem.

Mam please tell us, How to manage if high points are recorded on a amalgam restoration and which instruments we can use for that

patient should bite the paper by two sides simultaneously, so that the picture will be right
Correct. That would be the best practice. If not possible then one side would suffice.
