@@finnsnow2495 It was never outright stated in the books because cats don't know what livers or cancer is. But it _is_ liver cancer, that much is quite obvious in the book, regardless of it never being outright said.
Ravenpaw is an abuse survivor who goes on to heal and thrive once he's out of his toxic environment.
He's also gay.
Every aspect of his story is uplifting

I just want to say this because I don’t see many people talking about it
I like Ravenpaw for his personality (and yes I am one to relate to him as I am a member of LQBTQ+ and am an anxious person) but my favorite thing about him is that he wasn’t forgotten by the authors like they probably would with any cat now
He got three comics, a novella, and was at least given a nice death afterwards.
I genuinely do like that he wasn’t just forgotten entirely and just at random some cat mentioned “oh he died” and just pass by it

Ravenpaws was so sad, I loved the way it was written
I love Ravenpa because is one of the rare cats to feel like an actual character. He's anxious, but not because he's not good, he's actually pointed out to be really good (he caught a snake, he jump to caught a bird and even Tigerglaw couldn't say a thing, he chased on shadowclan's territory without being noticed, he was really talented.)
But there's something else. His story in the first book is about leaving a toxic environment to find a new home, and a new family. And how he become stronger and more confident in this better place. That's something we don't see enough.

ravenpaw is so vital in raising barley's confidence, which i think is often overlooked by some fans. barley isn't just this magically chill farmer who solves all of ravenpaw\s problems- he has the deeply troubled past of having his sister attacked by bloodclan and being powerless to stop it. they both have past trauma and help eachother overcome that. its ravenpaw who encourages BARLEY to stand up and fight bloodclan. ravenpaw was traumatized but once hes away from hiis abuser he finds the confidence to be proactive in helping the others take him down. he's not just a smol precious bean he has to protect. i know not everyone has read the mangas, field guides, etc that have barely's full backstory but they are not shallow or simply 'acessory' to eachother as some ppl have put it. ravenpaw has true growth he is not an anxious damsel his whole life.
also his role in the apprenctice rescue is so underated. he devises the plan to distract the tigerclan guard by pretending to be a riverclan cat. and when they are crossing the stepping stones he jumps in between blackfoot (who he just saw murder somone) and the apprentices LIKE IN THE MIDDLE OF THE RIVER OKAY hes a brave guy!!
im totally okay with ravenpaw winning the popularity poll like he's easuily the most likeable of the OG trio, i think is very unique in terms of personailty compared to a lot of warriors characters a thinker and storyteller, has a great story about surviving and thriving after abuse/trauma, and yeah hes a funky little gay cowboy we love this guy
Yeah I think the happiness he brings to Barley is rlly important . His company made the biggest impact on Barelys life
@@treble_exists When it comes down to it Ravenpaw really grew to be more diplomatic and trusting while Barely stayed more cautious. I think those qualities complement each other well and part the reason why their bond is so good.

The colors on cover art are basically whatever the artist feels like. Honestly eye colors change even in the text. Green, amber, blue, yellow, etc. Even on paper they change whenever the authors flub up

Ravenpaw’s Farewell probably would have been better as a Super Edition instead. The book spans around 1-6 moons in story so a lot could reasonably happen. Ravenpaw could get nostalgic telling Bella and Riley stories about his time in the Clans and they could have Ravenpaw hide his disease from Barley so he wouldn’t worry, only it makes Barley mistake Ravenpaw’s behavior for wanting to go back to the forest. It could help set the final battle up better as well.
Sometimes even though there are not official captions for these videos, I still turn on the subtitles for fun, and to see what the AI thinks is being said. I was not disappointed when I saw Ravenpaw being referred to as "Ravenpower", "Ravenpot", and "Ravenpop" (which is adorable).

I love how the vidwo described the relationship between Ravenpaw and Barley, and how they are a yin and yang. They both seem to have great chemistry and the video shows how much their relationship has grown from simply being friends in the darkest hour, to basically mates in Ravenpaw's farewell. It is a nice, timely progression.
I had a feeling that Akira regretted bashing Ravenpaw in the previous video (and yes I will use the term bash here it was pretty harsh even if it was MEANT to be light hearted.) hence why that ranking video was deleted. Granted I was surprised Raven won over Jay who is ALSO a fan favorite, but to each their own. After preaching about wanting good discourse when it comes to Mapleshade, for Akira to later bash Ravenpaw, that felt hecking hypocritical. So I'm glad they changed their tune and decided to look more closely into Ravenpaw.
It definitely felt hypocritical considering Mapleshade has been in less meaningful books and got less development than Ravenpaw.
Yeah I felt the tournament video was a little too divisive. I was trying to go for “rooting for your favorite sports team” vibes but it ended up just being needlessly mean to a few characters that I honestly don’t even hate that much.

I got into the Warriors series BECAUSE of Ravenpaw. I picked up Shattered Piece not knowing it was to an entire book series because at that time I didn’t think manga and books could go together like that. I though someone had picked up this manga about a cute cat, decided they didn’t want it, and put it down in the young adults section of the book store rather than putting it back. It was also the last book on the unlabeled shelf. I read it and fell in love with Ravenpaw and the world he lives in, but I know I would need to read the books advertised at the back to full understand and appreciate the story. That’s how I fell down the Warriors rabbit hole 9 years ago (long after the first book came out, but better late than never). Because of this, Ravenpaw has always been my favorite character and when I read that he had died, I broke my heart. I knew Ravenpaw’s Farewell was going to hit me hard (and it did, I almost didn’t finish it) but I also knew I had to see my favorite character’s story through to the end, if only for my own sanity. I’m happy I did. While the story itself was shaky, I thought it was a beautiful way to send off such an overlooked, underrated character that (in my opinion) deserved more time in the spotlight.
I am willing to bet money on Vicky Holmes calling Ravenpaw and Barley mates instead of friends in the original script of Ravenpaw's Farewell. She's the biggest supporter of that couple around (she freaking wrote it). Most likely she would also have Ravenpaw calling Barley the love of his life. The problem is always the publisher, and the markets they rely on. Oh well. At least Vicky managed to sneak into the conversation with StarClan that Barley loves Ravenpaw, and she utilised "show don't tell" very well.
Dying in your partner's arms (or in this case on their paws) while vowing to watch over and wait for them even in death, is as romantic as it can possibly get. It's practically a trope.
Yup, she did really great there to support those two (and the LGBTQ+ communty in the same go) despite the decisions of the publisher known reluctance.

You don't have to be Clanborn to get into StarClan. Just as long as you believe in it, you'll go there. There was a rogue in Tallstar's Revenge who got into StarClan.

He was too gentle to have any enjoyment for warrior stuff--fighting--and might have taken time to reflect outside of the clans and concluded the same.

Clan life simply wasn't for him. He didn't want anything to do with them, and that's okay. I think he became hella disillusioned with him due to Tigerclaw's treatment.
It's not that he was scared anymore, it's just that after living on the barn he realized how overrated clan life is. And, Barley is a farm cat. He wouldn't just up and join a clan. Ravenpaw was too good of a friend to try to drag him off somewhere he wouldn't be happy.

Ravenpaw is one of my favorites, I do wish we saw him more in the books and it's sad people under appreciate him, he's done so much and is honestly, pretty brave despite being a ball of anxiety. He's a good mate to barley, he does what he thinks is the right thing, all around a genuinely good character. But I do think he was handled the best, he got his character arc, he got development with barley and their relationship, and he had a good death that didn't feel so underwhelming or like it was an excuse to just get rid of him, he had a good fulfilling life. His death honestly made me super sad tho-- I cried, I do hope we see him in starclan, especially with barley.

As someone who has anxiety, it’s good to have representation in the books. Reading Into The Wild made me feel a connection with him, and same with Alder and Shadow in the more recent arcs and him overcoming his anxiety resonates with me, as someone who was terrified of basic things, like thunderstorms and fire drills in school. And his relationship with Barley is pretty cute, and it reminds me of my relationship with my best friend. We’re not dating, but in a way we complete each other personality wise.
Another thing, I feel the only reason Akira put out this video was because of the Ravenpaw drama on Twitter. Granted there a lot of factors in this, and how one major artist/TH-camr got outed for bad behavior. But still, I wasn’t on Twitter during this whole debate, but I feel Akira was a bit harsh during the debate video (which she has now taken down)
I’ll finish up with this statement. I feel if Akira chose her wording more properly, the whole drama could have been avoided.

I'm curious where he would lose for you on that video where the cats battled for popularity now. I just went looking for it and it's gone. I hope you didn't get a bunch of backlash just because your opinions differed from the community :'( I mean he's a very cute character, but I also agree I wouldn't put him at number one. Anyone who jumps down your throat just because you feel differently is sad and needs to take another look at their life choices smh.

P.s honestly Ravenpaw x Barley are kinda cute though :3 but I feel bad for him because Tigerclaw is always so abusive to Ravenpaw calling him names like an immature Warrior. Ravenpaw is a good cat. Even though he got in a fight with Barely. I was kinda heart broken when he died of liver cancer though. I wish it didn’t end that certain way.

It was originally supposed to be one book and they needed Ravenpaws “crazy stories” that almost didn’t sound real. My friend just started reading the books because I convinced her to. She thought That Tigerstar wasn’t evil. Firepaw just needed another ally and ravenpaw gave him that as well as an interesting plot point.

I've always liked Ravenpaw when i read the first sets of books. Even named my own Black and White time Raven after him. I dropped the series after the 3rd series as it develed too much into the mysticism to me. I was fine with the level then few of them had 'superpowers'. I've stumbled back acrossed it after finding the two books I had actually Owned, into the wild and Dawn (yes i am aware they have no correlation) and was wondering how things were going.
I think Ravenpaw is a nice character. Not the best, but nice. I like how he and Barley have a romantic relationship, and I like to imagine that they think of Bellaleaf and Rileypool like the kits that they could never have. They act like it. And also, on the Warriors wiki, they list Ravenpaw and Barley as 'partners' (I think we all know they wanted to list them as mates but couldn't.)
I actually made a mini story about this:
'"And then, you leap!" Purred Ravenpaw as be pounced on the mouse, it squeaked as he snapped it's neck. "Yay!" cheered Bella and Riley, hopping up and down. Their mother, Violet, was watching them with anxious eyes as Barley assured her they would be okay. "Ravenpaw! Teach us more!" Begged Bella, her orange fur fluffing up as she pounced on a strand of hay, pretending it was a mouse, then Riley leapt on her, and they began to play-fight. Ravenpaw purred, kits' were so fun! In ThunderClan, kits' had always looked up to Sandpaw and Dustpaw, who grew up to be Sandstorm and Dustpelt. Ravenpaw had been an anxious joke in the Clan, being made fun of if he jumped at the sound of a branch breaking. But here, kits' looked up to *him* . "Alright, bedtime." Violet said, walking forward. "Mama! No! We wanna play!" complained Riley as he was scooped up by his scruff and put on a patched blanket by Violet, Bella lay next to him reluctantly. "You can play in the morning, but you'll need energy." purred Barley, stepping forward. Violet gave him a grateful look as she wrapped her slender body around her kits', and closed her eyes. Soon, the three cats were all snoring. Ravenpaw leapt up beside Barley, who was lying stretched out on a hay rack. "Kits' are a pawful. Though, I do wish we had some of our own." Barley purred, licking Ravenpaw around the ears.
Ravenpaw nuzzled his parthers black-and-white fur. "There's no harm in pretending Bella and Riley *are* our kits', right?" asked Ravenpaw, Barley lay next to him, his chin on Ravenpaw's black back. "Of course not." Muttered Barley as words have way to loud snoring. Ravenpaw rolled his eyes, Barley always wore himself out! He's also relatable, While his friends Firestar and Graystripe are not.

I find Raven paw very unique in the fact that most cats are the “really brave and heroic cliche” raven paw is his own little timid guy who never wanted to be a warrior cause he was scared.
Also I screech everytime I see ravenpaws name, like full on demonic screeching, idk point is I am way to attached to this cat

I love Ravenpaw! I’m happy Tigerstar didn’t kill him off and Ravenpaw was able to find peace and love with Barley. Rest In Peace my sweet anxious boy.

The only reason I dont agree with the Ravenpaw and Barley ship is because barley was a pretty good amount older than Ravenpaw so I always thought of him as more of a father/mentor figure idk
Ever since reading book 1 in 5th grade Ravenpaw has always been my favorite cat (Mostly because I picked up the graphic novel before I finished the darkest hour)

About one of your criticism on Ravenpaw's farewell, I do think that Barley was just insecure about being left alone. Even in the strongest and more lasting relationships, there are some insecurities that will always be there, lurking in your psyche, just waiting for a moment to strike. This is something that partners need to reassure each other when it happens - and that was exactly the case. I don't think it makes their relationship less meaningful or less established at all.
I think it's good to remember that just like Ravenpaw, Barley had a traumatic experience when he was younger as well. BloodClan almost killed his sister right in front of him. He probably developed this irrational fear of being alone from this, y'know? Even though he knows that rationally speaking, Ravenpaw would never leave him - the trauma speaks for itself. Despite all these years of experience and reassuring from Ravenpaw, this irrational fear can come back randomly. This is quite common in traumatized victims, especially those who were traumatized at a young age.
Maybe it wasn't well-written (or heck, probably it wasn't even on purpose) but I think this is a good interpretation on why Barley was acting strange

raven paw is a very important character because of his story! he gas a lot of the reason that forester is the leader, because if raven paw hands existed or seen the fight they would confront him of killing retail, so technically thunderclap would be the early tiger clan

To be honest it didn’t fit up to most kitty pets and it was used as a plot-point from the kittypet chase used to meet Violet and Riley to SkyClan needing help. SPEAKING OF SKYCLAN: They seem weak. The other 4 and even possibly Bloodclan knows actual moves that can be taught. HECK IT’S SHOWN IN RAVENPAWS FAREWELL! I know that clan ‘knows’ battlemoves but the book made it feel like they didn’t or that they were a extremely small clan. It made them feel weak. Alright done with my rant-
