    Tested it today, smooth riding - nice sound, easy to handle and the power is just amazing.
    After 2 month of test riding many bikes I now know what I get in a short time, the 1200 GS. Will list me MANY years for sure,
    just love it now.

    Fun ride - I love the engine sound on my '12 GS - it's hard to get a good reproduction of the sound on a video - the mic just pics up the wind noise so easily. Who knew NY had such beautiful countryside...nice hills and twisty roads - great for motorcycling.

    Full throttle and still back view from the mirrors is great, no vibration at all !!!!
    When I was riding my 08 model sohc engine 105hp adventure above 6000 rpm, I couldn't able to see clearly what's going on back of my bike from my mirrors because of huge vibration :(

      Refinement is one of the GSA's strong points, at a small expense to sheer pantomime. I would be giggling the whole ride if I rode your bike :)

    Great machine you got there. Must agree totally with Maurice Borsboom though, always attack the corner from the outside, drifting in towards the centre line as you are going round, and then drifting out again. This way it 'straightens' the bend and gives you much better view. I cannot wait to get the GSA, love the sound and especially the tank range. Hopefully soon....

      Point taken, I always try to stay away from the middle of the road though, there might be a careless driver out there cross the yellow lines. Roger Morello

    Apparently your dealer didn't explain the hazard of confusing the computer by having more than one key at the ignition module. You must keep one and only one chipped key in vicinity of the ignition switch. Looks like you may have several keys on that ring.

    I notice you have your ez pass on your windscreen. My fits into the little glove box on top of the gas tank. It's a tight squeeze, but I can get it latched shut.

    Whats with all that cog swaping on the road sections? With the torque that lump puts out yer should pop that into top and belt round those slow bends. Taking the correct line would also help. The way your pilot that beast you could end up with some serious gravel rash. Take it easy out there sonny. Nice Bike though..

    Great video! I am considering the GS 1200 Adventure, in that olive color, it's such a great bike. One quick question, do you have the regular seat on it? You mentioned in another comment that you were 5'9, I am 5'8 and was wondering if I should order the exclusive low seat from BMW.

    • @asianeleven6050
      @asianeleven6050  9 ปีที่แล้ว

      NYGlockinator13 I had the normal seat on it, with normal suspension. What is your inseam measurement (from the bottom of your feet to the top of your inner thigh)? I'm at around 35" and the bike was fine during road and light off-road use. It gets a little difficult on more serious/rocky terrain. Once the terrain makes you put your foot down a lot, the weight starts to show really quick. The bike is well engineered so it is balanced, but you cant get away from it being wide and 500lbs.

    • @asianeleven6050
      @asianeleven6050  9 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Kevin Schijven Haha thanks man! Since this video I have traded in for a car, that decision had nothing to do with the greatness of the bike. I actually regret that decision very much. If you have the finances to purchase a GSA I would go for it. This bike has a way of making you feel real special!

      David Lim Thanks for the response mate!
      I had a accident on a bike last year. The other guy is to blame so I am eagerly awaiting my insurance money. If that gets in and if its enough i'm thinking of filming the whole buying and delivery. Cheers

    Nice video. I currently ride a 2012 Kawasaki C14 and looking for more comfort, upright seating, and low wind buffeting. I'm considering the K1600GT or 1200 GS, leaning towards GS. Can you comment on buffeting and comfort?

    • @asianeleven6050
      @asianeleven6050  9 ปีที่แล้ว

      Kevin iraca Sorry for the late reply, the GSA windscreen provides good coverage and I personally experience very low wind buffeting. I'm 5'9" and use a Shoei Neotec or a Qwest. The seat is comfortable but slightly on the firmer side so I would think about a cushion if you want a softer seat. :) All in all this is a very capable long distance hauler. Now if all your going to do is long distance hauling then you might want to check out the K1600. I would take both of them on a test run! :)

    Great video-thanks for showing it. I am considering an RS when they come out (or a vfr) but was wondering if there is there any "torque pull" to the right under hard acceleration in the new 1200 lc motor? I've heard the r1200rt has this so was wondering if this new motor does. thx

    • @asianeleven6050
      @asianeleven6050  10 ปีที่แล้ว

      Windy Run I have not experienced any torque pull/steering to the right on the GSA. If there is then its minute to the point where I haven't noticed it :)

    I should have posted my comment here !
    Very cool video!
    You mention you've only been riding for 7 months.
    What made you decide on the 1200 GSA over the GS ?
    Is this your first bike ?
    Am considering buying either the GSA or the GS. But I can't seem to decide between which one. My main concern is whether the larger tank is really necessary. I know the GSA also has different gear ratios, but does this outweigh the larger tank issue (ie. assuming you don't really need the larger tank).
    Am in Northern NJ, so when i get my bike it would be great to go on ride together.
    Thanks.

      @asianeleven6050  10 ปีที่แล้ว

      Haha I left a long comment on the other video. Thanks for the comment!
      If your not doing long distance cross-country-type trips, its not necessary, particularly in the United States. From what my friends tell me, there is a gas station every 50-80 miles. On the GS you should be getting about roughly 200 miles per tank. Gear ratios on the GSA are fine, I didn't notice a big difference/change from the previous model.
      Comment or message me! When are you planning on purchasing?

  • @kpappa
    @kpappa 9 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Bike has enough torque so you don't have to lower your gear when slow down. In other words do not fight to change gears so frequently when you what to enjoy a smooth ride.

    @4:53 you get used to the weight ;) I find tight trails to be more challenging, it's all about clutch. I'm almost to 30 sec at a dead stop without a stab to the ground.

    1 comment i have: at 10:50 surispe say the truck...you should drive better in the curves ..thatcurve you should take it high right..there will be better view of whats comming after the blind corner...right curved corners what is see you do right...take them high left and then steer in....when you do this you have always the room and time to make corrrections....believe me i did it wronng too...See ya...Maurice

    I love these bikes but the engine has quite a rattle.. Esp at low revs, that must get annoying?

    • @asianeleven6050
      @asianeleven6050  9 ปีที่แล้ว

      William Newby At first I thought it was weird but after multiple visits to the service center and reading forums, the rattle is a given with the new water boxer. These heads like to rattle, but its not really annoying. Just do a couple of full throttle pulls and you'll forget about it in no time ;) (plus its not really noticeable at speed so no worries there)

    • @williamnewby5328
      @williamnewby5328 9 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      does annoy the hell out of me at 3,000 rpm though and the old oil cooled gsa never made these noises!

    • @MagicAyrtonforever
      @MagicAyrtonforever 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      William Newby Demonstrators always sound like shit.. because no one runs them in and abuse them before they have had a chance.. mechanical parts need to bed in and wear in to each other.. that can't be done when they are melted together at 9,000 rpm!! :)

  • @alexrodru

    Why the engine is so very noisy . I cant understand that. I cant imagine travel with that noise

    Great video, it felt like I was behind a simulator game, gave me an idea of how the bike would feel. I wonder how this bitch would handle with a combined Adam and Eve weight of 300 lbs?

    • @asianeleven6050
      @asianeleven6050  9 ปีที่แล้ว

      Brad Miller Haha I had someone ride shot gun with me and the bike shows little compromise. The ESA is a nice addition to help with added weight. Anything after that is up to the rider :)

  • @sunideh
    @sunideh 10 ปีที่แล้ว

    This bike is loud/noisy and it sounds like you are always in 3rd gear & never got to 5th gear to rest the engine.

    • @asianeleven6050
      @asianeleven6050  10 ปีที่แล้ว

      sunideh I upped the decibel level in post so that the engine noise was more prominent, I guess along with that the ambient noise got louder as well. I'm not a sound engineer so I couldn't fix this problem. When I listen to this clip its noisy to me too.

    • @asianeleven6050
      @asianeleven6050  10 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      sunideh What you could also be hearing is the valves clattering away. It is loud but normal in the new water-cooled GS.

      agree with but my 15 minutes experience with the bike, my comment is the sound worst than what you're hearing when you're on top of it. The bike look nice, but with such an horrible engine sound is a real torture after 30 min ride.

  • @dayriderschat
    @dayriderschat 10 ปีที่แล้ว

    Just as well we rarely have tire blowouts these days at this speed could be lethal ....We have kangaroos to avoid on our bikes !! I can't say that I like the sound of the engine... My suzuki sounds less agricultural !!!

    • @asianeleven6050
      @asianeleven6050  10 ปีที่แล้ว

      Woah, careful when the Joey's are around! I agree, I like the sound of a triple or a cross-plane Yamaha power plant better, but this engine is a performer! :)

      I've been riding bikes for 58 years and have only 3 bikes at the moment ... I have vintage, ,classic, and modern ... and plan to ride for at least another 58 ...the oldest rider in our club is well over 90 and his wife rides sidecar...I easily keep up with the 1200cc bikes as we have quite hilly winding roads surrounding the city of Perth...I ride a 500cc Suzuki which does 488kms to the tank and is heavy enough not to blow around in a gale .... I can buy 5 new Suzuki's for the price of one BMW which is also a consideration....Ride safe David :))

    I'm sure they're a great bike but what's all the fuss about the engine sound? It sounds like an old sewing machine to me - no offence. I ride a '97 Yammy XJ900S and it sounds much nicer (imho).
    Also, I can't help thinking the traction control and ABS are cheating, what next - automatic gear-change?

    • @asianeleven6050
      @asianeleven6050  10 ปีที่แล้ว

      I personally also love the sound of the Ducati V-twins and the Triumph Triples but above the sound, this is an amazing performing engine. And for me safety is always a nice bonus when your out there among the crazies. And you always have the choice to turn it off when you want to have fun! :)

      The sound in this video (and 95% off all other videos) does not come even close the the original sound. At idle and low-rpm the Boxer sound really great. If you rev it up: not so good anymore.
