Lacey Placey and BYU Religious Education , it seems to me that Brother Draper is referencing an article titled "The Atonement", written by President McKay in the March 1959 "Instructor" publication. Here is a link to that article: archive.org/details/instructor943dese/page/n1/mode/2up
Interesting thought. And at the very least, Cain wanted the perceived prestige (& influence?) of Abel so he could (& would) do everything in his "power" to pervert the right ways of the Lord AND have earthly/worldly gain, influence, and "power". It would definitely be part and parcel of "gain".
I think that Eve carried a heavy burden that it was because of her that Adam ate the apple and lost his easy living and now he has to sweat it out and work, work, work. But when Eve heard Adam bless God and say were it not for our transgression etc, and she repeated it, she was happy that Adam saw that it was the right thing to do and it enriched their lives. It took away the burden she carried that it was because her they lost their comfy living. Eve was now happy and contented that Adam was pleased with her and he did not blame her for the fall.
Satan told Cain to make a mockery of a sacrifice to the Lord. Satan knew the sacrifice would displease the Lord, which anger would bring Cain closer to Satan. The Lord who knows the thoughts and intent of the heart, would know that Cain is listening to Satan counsel.
These wonderful discussions have given me a much deeper understanding of the gospel. These discussions are priceless. Thank you.

@@12ZekeS THANK YOU!
Absolutely incredible insight. Many thanks
Was it in the area that Joseph Smith came to
Spring Hill?
Or farther away from it.
Was it just his flocks or was it that he wanted his place at the head of that dispensation which Abel was the head?
