The gospel of Barnabas was not written by Barnabas, it is falsely attributed to him. The earliest mention in other writing (this is a way in which historians validate the authenticity of texts that are claimed to be ancient) of such a text is in the 16th century by persecuted Muslims after Islam was outlawed in Spain. The best estimates of the date the text was written in are 13th-15th century AD, thus it would have been impossible that it was actually written by Barnabas.
In addition to this, the text itself contains many factual errors that would be hard for an apostle who lived in the 1st century AD to make. This isn't to say there aren't factual errors in other gospels but these are some examples of errors whoever the author was made; getting the geographical of the towns Nazareth and Capernaum around the wrong way, stating that 'Christ said "I am not the Messiah"' when Christ is the Greek word for Messiah and Messiah is the Hebrew word for Christ, saying that a Jubilee is 100 years when in the Jewish context it was always 50 years, and other general mistakes with culture, technology of the day, language and geography. If this were written by someone that lived in the 1st Century AD then they would have been too crazy to be trusted anyway, because they just didnt know what they were talking about.
The promotion of these text has been primarily by eager Muslims keen to find a way to convert particularly new Christians who are lacking in theological knowledge. However, Muslim scholars in general also reject this book as a forgery even if it does agree with what the Quran says.
I would like to point out the idea of God preserving texts he wanted us to read and the fact this is referenced to nowhere before the 1600's means that as Christians we should regard this as false

We appreciate you for the tips you taught us. We researched more about the errors and realized that it seems that the theory of religious forgery is very likely and considering the errors in it, it is not unlikely that this Gospel was not written by Barnabas at all.
But according to the chronology determined by several experts in this field, it is much older than the 13th or 15th century. The closest date for scientific speculation
It was written around the 7th century, but most people believe that this manuscript was written in the 1st century AD. Personally, considering the structural mistakes made, I consider the theory of religious forgery more likely.

Very insightful comment. I'm not well versed in the theological side of religion, but just objectively, if mistakes and factual errors are enough grounds to make this gospel a forgery and invalid, wouldn't that make the other gospels invalid as well? Considering there are certain factual errors in it and that the real authors can't be definitively identified?

@@NoobKid77 Yes there are factual errors and slight contradictions between gospels but the gospel of Barnabas contains far too many, and of the specific type that someone living within a generation of Jesus would not have made. Scholars have been able to find authorship links between certain texts, including the gospels of Matthew, Mark, Luke and John, the gospel of Barnabas doesn't fit into this. Interestingly enough though the gospel of Thomas (which was also probably not written by the Apostle Thomas because it seems to have been written after Thomas was martyred) has links to the Q document which is a theoretical collection of writings from the lifetime of Jesus that must of the new testament draws upon, especially the 4 gospels. However the book of Thomas contains some stuff that also doesn't really align with the rest of the gospel so it is likely the case that someone added to it, maybe they will find the Q document one day but I also believe that God has preserved for us the texts that were inspired by him, unfortunately that means we still have to figure out which ones are forgeries.

@DavidsonThomas808 Yet another insightful reply. Will look more into it. But my question is that if a document is found to be inconsistent and with evidence of tempering, can it still be considered as a credible document?

History proves that all of the disciples of Jesus except Apostle John became martyr for their faith in Christ. If Jesus's crucifixion was a lie. Then they would not have embraced death for a lie.
