yeah this clue truly was a labor of love! also our colors are so similar, i picked a tonal black and an orange variegated yarn, so it’s so fun to see one that looks so similar to mine out there!
Your Go Go Dynamo is looking fabulous, Matthew! When you threw it over your shoulders, the design elements fell into place ... just stunning. Onward to Clue 4, but someday think about knitting another Go Go Dynamo and stopping after Clue 3 for a great scarf.
Am loving your selection of colours Matthew. Am also in admiration of your perseverance with the triangles. Not brave enough to knit with the kal as I’m such a slow knitter, so waiting until the end, and not sure I’d cope with all those short rows. But was so interesting what you said about backward knitting - may look into that, thank you :-)
Love your colours! I’m only about a quarter way through Clue 3 so am feeling the slog, but looking forward to getting this one done to see what Clue 4 is!
I just finished clue 3 yesterday. Felt like it took forever! I definately lost my motivation for the project before halfway. Now it's going to have to wait until I get the sweater done for my daughter's Christmas present.
Congrats on finishing it! And I totally get it about making it wait for a Christmas knit - those are important! I hope the sweater turns out wonderfully and that your daughter loves it!
Your shawl is looking gorge! I am so glad to found this a slog too… most other folks have said it was fine but I hated this section… it is 23:00 on Wednesday and I just finished this clue!!!
Well done. I’m still struggling with clue one as my yarn arrived late And I keep forgetting to obfuscate in the garter wedge but I’m hanging in there as I want to try the brioche
WOW! congrats on finishing. I only have 6 triangles done... womp womp. I think we will be putting some sort of applied i-cord on the border or maybe tassels?
So lovely to see and hear your honest experiences with the MKAL, you are so fast to be keeping up! I'm still only part way through clue 2. Thank you so much for the tips, I will also use dpn's and carry my yarn, hope you are better rested today 😊
Thank you so much! I mean there are so many ways to do the same things in knitting and we all have to find what works for us personally! Good luck with your shawl!
Thanks for another great video! Love how your shawl is turning out. I loved clue 3 and I found it very addictive, I was always thinking 'I'll just do one more before I go to bed'. I think that for clue 4 we're going to fill in the 'curve' between the semi circles that you talked about, so that the scalloped edge from clue 3 will be curved and the shawl as a whole will more or less form a semi-circle.
I am using a DPN for my short rows as well. They are easy, just tedious with the turning turning turning. I know I miscounted some of my short rows. I have two wedges left and hope everything lines up properly. Oh, I sketched my wedges as well, so i could incorporate a 3rd color (a 2nd mohair) into this section!
Ha! I was doing wedge math, too! Once I passed the halfway point, it seemed to go faster. Like you, I carried my yarns in the i-cord. NFW was I going to weave in all those ends! 😂 ~Brenda
It's so beautiful your GO GO Dynamo! Beautiful colors choice. I finished my Clue 3 on Sunday night. I couldn't belive it because at first I was a little bit scared (like you). But then I got into a rhythm and couldn't stop. 😅
Love your shawl, the black outlines the others making it look like old school cartoon graphics- stunning Oh boy this Clue 3, the Dark Clue😨😱 I’m almost done now but have done sooo many wedges First I thought I knew better than Stephen, and reversed the colours for 7 wedges Then realised I wanted the darker edges on the outside so had to rip them out Started over, carrying yarn ( thank God) and did whole 27 wedges but was almost at the end, the horror when I saw I’d made all my CC wedges too big, did 4 mini wedges instead of 3…I was comparing every new wedge with this first incorrect wedge, compounding my mistake But had to fix it, the wedges looked too big So in the end I will have knit 73 of these damned things!!! All my own fault 😧
Wow, what a journey!!!! That is so much work! I did that a couple times, made a wedge four sections instead of three. It's so easy to do, especially on the CC ones! Well I'm glad it all worked out for you in the end!
I'm finishing up my Clue 3 as I watch, you are giving the last push to the finish line lol! 2 more to go! I will keep going with Clue 4. I believe it will be a semi-circle similar to shawlography. I laid mine so over the shawlograohy and it's identical shape.
I think you were right! Honestly it took me so long to understand the shape and how it was going to work out. I wasn't knitting yet when Shawlography came out, should I go back and do it? I know it is a popular one
I am still at clue 1, and totally fine with it. As I also am on clue 3 on last year's mkal Geogradient. Also knitting on an other version of mkal 2022 Twists and turn, clue 3 if I recall correctly. Two of these will be Christmas or birthday gifts this winter. Many of us will not finish as the mkal finish, but sometime before Christmas, or later. Most will finish before next year's mkal starts. Embracing our pace.
Embrace your pace, yes! That is great, and these would be such wonderful gifts. This is the first year I have been able to keep up at all, but it has been a lot of work! I was lucky to have some time off work to be able to spend whole days knitting.
Oh my! So good to see you- Last night watched your podcast till I went to bed late- I get the I’m tired 🥱 I’m just on Clue2 - i’ve never done brioche before so I’m just doing the best I can and who knows maybe I’ll get it down. Pat before the Shaw is finished.😂 Thank you for all you do - you are appreciated ❤
Happy birthday mum! Well done finishing - I’m literally just finishing my last row from clue 2 but I’m not too bothered, I think it’ll give me the leeway to decide what I want to do next - I really don’t like that weird bunting edge!
I loved your pep talk about deciding to keep going. I love this shawl, but I have felt that the whole thing is a slog. I’m almost done with clue 2. I like being a week behind because I benefit from others’ creativity. I hope you don’t mind, but I would like to use your alternating color pattern for clue 3?
I never even finished clue 2 and I really don’t want to start clue 3. It does not look fun at all. I may just frog it and use the yarn for something else
Aww, I understand. In his final video he refers to them as the "fun short rows" and I know some people out there really enjoyed doing them... but obviously I didn't. Whatever you decide, I support you!
"I feel despair" 🤣🤣 Thank you for putting to words all of us who have knit this clue 🤣
Hahaha you're welcome!
yeah this clue truly was a labor of love! also our colors are so similar, i picked a tonal black and an orange variegated yarn, so it’s so fun to see one that looks so similar to mine out there!
Oh cool, that's so awesome about our similar colours!
Your Go Go Dynamo is looking fabulous, Matthew! When you threw it over your shoulders, the design elements fell into place ... just stunning. Onward to Clue 4, but someday think about knitting another Go Go Dynamo and stopping after Clue 3 for a great scarf.
Thank you! Yes, I actually would consider doing this one again! Though maybe not for a while...
@@fairygodfatherknits Of course, intense projects like Stephen West's MKALs need breathing room between repeat undertakings of the same pattern.

My absolute pleasure! And I admire your self-knowledge and that sounds like a really good plan!
Stay strong Matthew! I'm cheering you on from Alberta. Those colours are insaaaaaane. UGH too good.
Thank you so much, I appreciate it!
Love your colours! I’m only about a quarter way through Clue 3 so am feeling the slog, but looking forward to getting this one done to see what Clue 4 is!
Thank you! And good luck! Clue 4 is really beautiful so it does all feel worth it in the end!

Thank you I agree! Some people apparently found them really fun and really enjoyed this clue... to each their own!
I love living (knitting?) vicariously through you! This is so fun and I love how real you are cuz it's A LOT OF KNITTING HOLY COW. xoxo!!
Thanks so much lovely! Glad you are along for the journey and here for my complaining hahaha
Well done. I’m still struggling with clue one as my yarn arrived late And I keep forgetting to obfuscate in the garter wedge but I’m hanging in there as I want to try the brioche
Good luck with it! I really enjoyed the brioche.
Clue 3 definitely was a lot but finished this morning. It was totally worth it, it is so beautiful.
I absolutely agree it is beautiful and worth it in the end!
WOW! congrats on finishing. I only have 6 triangles done... womp womp. I think we will be putting some sort of applied i-cord on the border or maybe tassels?
Thank you! I hope you have been able to keep going... it's worth it!
@@fairygodfatherknits I stopped and i am keeping it a scarf. I think i will wear that more. i really like the final design though!

I am using a DPN for my short rows as well. They are easy, just tedious with the turning turning turning. I know I miscounted some of my short rows. Yarn carriers unite! I agree the second half went much faster... there must be some psychology at work there!

I almost swallowed my stitch marker so many times from having it in my mouth all the time and then forgetting it was there 🤣
Too funny! I'm glad you didn't actually swallow it 😂

Well, now it's the future and they are all done! I know because I saw your other comment ;) Congrats again on getting through them!
