Yamaha has a LOT of catching up to do. Seadoo actually had fishermen design the ski and seadoo has a hard following on the FishPros and many aftermarket items for customization and the overall layout of the seadoo and its huge rear deck allow for some crazy stuff. Ive added 3 in 1 belly transducer, many, many mods for fishing including a spot lock trolling motor mounted on the rear. FishPro is a very dry ride, which you want when fishing in the winter...
That's great feedback. We agree with you the Sea-Doo ST3 hull (Fish Pro, GTX, RXT-X) is a dryer ride than the Yamaha FX. But the trade-off for that is bow hunt on the Sea-Doo in rough chop or in the ocean. You're going to get wet no matter which ski you buy, but the Sea-Sea-Doo will keep you a little dryer for a little longer. Thanks again for sharing your experience.
How is the ergonomics for a tall person? One of criticsms I see is cockpit can be cramped for 6'2"ish and above people comapre to the doos which have you seated lower
Great question. Some taller riders who ride while standing up have modified their craft and bent the Yamaha FX handlebars upwards, though we do not recommend tampering with any of the critical controls. Most 6ft riders I know find it ok to stand while riding the Yamaha FX with the handlebars in the highest position as per the factory settings. Your extra height and arm length will make it easier to access the front storage area over the handlebars when you're stopped on the water. Our main advice regarding the Yamaha FX is to wear long wetsuit pants or similar, to stop the seat stitching rubbing and irritating the inside of your lower legs.
Thanks for your feedback. That’s a fair point. However having used both, the touchscreen is way easier and faster to operate versus the button version. It just takes too long to enter data etc.
Thanks for the note Billy! Yamaha USA of course has all the accessories to make a JetFish edition, but as far as we can tell, is yet to offer them as a bundle for a dealer-fit JetFish edition. At least all the ingredients are there …
The rec deck is too expensive for what it is. It's like they don't want people to buy it. I can easily afford it, but don't want to buy it out of principle.

@@WatercraftZone Legend - thanks team
Good jet ski😊
It's great to see Yamaha having a genuine go at the booming Jet Ski fishing market.
Touchscreens may not work well with wet or gloved hands, that's why button controls are there on gps

Great review, thanks for sharing!
Maybe we will see that version in the USA one day.

Here’s hoping this is Yamaha’s first attempt at this on a WaveRunner and is working on further improvements down the line.
