As much as I want to sympathize with him because his mental health probably isn’t the greatest, it’s honestly unacceptable to change everything last minute like he did after weeks of preparation.
This is an unpopular opinion but just because you are suffering or dealing with something, doesn't give you an excuse or a license to be an asshole person. Obviously if someone is going through stuff and lashes out at you it's up to you to be mature enough to realise where they're coming from but it doesn't mean what they did is ok. Frank took that for granted, maybe he didn't want to perform and was tied down, I can appreciate him not wanting to but one thing I hate in a person, is someone who feels the need to ruin other people's day because theirs is ruined. People paid to see him and he genuinely might've ruined their day. Tragic
@@salifyanji7889 totally agree. There were people there who put countless hours of effort to present his set just for it to all be torn down. Not even also acknowledging that he gave a poor and minimal performance.
Along with going to Coachella just to flex. Good luck trying to flex a disappointing set. Everyone that didn’t go got to see it for free, huge thank you to Morgan and Andy for being heroes doing the lords work, they got the followers boost.
I’m not on anyone’s side but this is what happens when you set expectations. If this were to happen to me next weekend or a drop out completely I honestly wouldn’t mind and this is coming from a Frank Ocean “fan”
I REALLY liked that you touched on the production side of things with these large music venues.. I bartend concerts and festivals across the nation (choose to opt out Coachcella since I just did Ultra in Miami) and tend to mingle with the production teams for sound and stage setup. These People are showing up 2-3am, spending 10 hrs to build one stage for a 1 hr set is WORK. These people work long and labor focused jobs that’s outta pocket..
exactly! this could have been a huge resume opportunity for so many hard working people who do rigging, lighting, vdj design, front of house audio, festival audio, pyrotechnics/and stage tech, dancers, session musicians, etc. all of this work is mostly contract and comes with no opportunity for employer based health insurance and makes filing taxes even harder and now after all that hard work they can't even feel dignified to mention their contibutions to this h e a d l i n i n g f e s t i v a l s e t... that is sad
So outta pocket. I was supposed to see Frank at Coachella in 2020 but obviously we all know what happened. And if this would have happened at my show I would beat him up personally even though I love him. Lol
Idk if bro really understands the privileged position he’s in to be able to NOT drop a full length project for up to 7 years at this point and still be a household name. And for Coachella to want him performing there speaks to how much of demand there is for him, most artists shelf life is 3-5 years and his musical talent clearly shows he’s not one of those typa artists, but to disrespect the hard working individuals who helped you get that Coachella check is crazy. The same people who went to see him have probably had to continue going to work while dealing with their own mental health or the death of a loved one because bills still need to get paid, him being a musician shouldn’t justify these actions AT ALL !
I'm pretty sure those people are still getting paid for the work they put in. It's not like their time and effort isn't going to be compensated. And no its not privilege. He's a household name due to his talent and for his innovation in music. If artists have a 3-5 year shelf life, it's usually cuz they are riding trends and not introducing anything new to the field.
who tf helped him? I dont understand where u r coming from. From my point of view it is his and only his accomplishment, to have people hyped for a live set. Because of his pure talent and wonderful voice. Dudes an Icon. stop bullshitting lol
@@smackoschmeckel1057i love you bro. i feel like most people are just idk. a lot of his fans are so entitled and feel as if they deserve more from him but what he does is ultimately up to him. it doesnt matter what we want. music is an outlet and a creative process and if they cant understand his creative process then they should stfu
@@benjis0lis how are people acting entitled when they’re mad that he was supposed to headline the set and then he showed up an hour late and half assed a couple songs.
Quick reminder that the amount of time that has now passed since the last Frank Ocean album is the same amount that it took for The Beatles to drop their entire musical catalogue and break up
I wasted $1,000+ for coachella, drove from texas and currently driving back, on top of camping at the very front rail for 10-11 hours prior to his performance. I am financially and emotionally hurting right now… everything was just so bittersweet and now just a waste of time and money since my main motive of going was specially for him.
You didn’t “waste” $1000… You SPENT $1000 to attend a festival that 99% of people will never experience in their lives. It sucks that Frank bombed his set, but you camping out there for literally half a day instead of enjoying your vacation is on you. You could have gotten the exact same experience if you arrived there 1-2 hours prior instead. Sorry, dude.
I was at this show last night and it was beyond disappointing. Being a Coachella headliner is such an honour and it just didn’t seem like something that he genuinely wanted to do. I’d be very surprised if he comes back next weekend. On a lighter note the skaters/dancers just walking around in circles because they couldn’t skate was hilarious lol
ion know ab "eating good" with tyler. bro waited 2 years to drop a deluxe with only 5 new songs 😐. we got crumbs if anything from tyler 😭. and that's what pisses me off about artists sometimes. maybe i just don't understand, BUT I know DAMN well tyler & a bunch of other artists have at LEAST 1-2TB of unheard music. they CAN drop they just don't WANT to atp 😒. like i said, maybe I just don't understand.
@@forrnx. Tyler drops every two years consistently since the start of his career. The estate sale is the end of cmiygl era and the start of a new one. More is coming this year, enjoy the rollout
@@forrnx. do you want them to mindlessly drop a bunch of stuff that they don’t feel is good? or do you want them to drop well fleshed out albums that they’re happy with? also, tyler’s still dropping a new album this year, he’s dropped albums biyearly for around 14 years now
I saw Chuck Berry live, like a year before he passed away. He, being old, fragile and tired, still delivered a great show, and knowing beforehand about his health problems thought of it and had the whole crew including his son carry the show in his "absncense". Thats the only way to do it
As someone who works setting up concerts, the amount of money he cost Coachella is insane, especially given that the standard in the industry is that Sundays start time and a half, and go double after 8 hours, which is easily how long changing all the lighting and cables for everything not to mention the ice rink
yup, many artists still don't get they have to be professional. When you perform there's a bunch of people that make sure that everything is set up smoothly and it costs a lot of money and time. a business and people are trying to keep it running. and to not show up it just hurts your future paycheck and from people wanting to work with you
@@suru_media yeah I've worked shows much smaller than Coachella with no where near as complex, and its 50-70 people starting work as early as 4 or 5 am to get it setup. I wouldn't be surprised if he had to pay the cost for that switch
He didn't cost Coachella any money lol, they already got the tickets sold, this doesn't effect them. The only people that were fucked over by this was the fans
Frank at this point just reminds me of a little kid, that after his mother stood in the kitchen for hours, decides to not eat anything at all, but rather dance on the table.
@@anisanurraudah8383 eh not really a bad reputation or being late just more like "don't expect too much" I think fans are annoyed that he's not active in the media or dropping albums so this Coachella performance was his big comeback but in the back of people's mind was "don't expect too much" and then it just all fell apart like they expected and it was fans last straw i guess sad situation for everyone
as a long time frank fan, last night was mad painful. i feel like he finally proved that he doesnt give a fuck about his fans. i looked past all the merch fuck ups and stuff but this shit was outta bounds. for him to decline a livestream for all his fans at home, and to throw a fit over his stage and in return make his set get cut hella short, AND to play like weird remixes and long dj cuts and so forth like, that shit just shows he does not care. it felt like a slap in the face. he hasnt performed for YEARS and hungry fans were eager to hear their favorite songs and what they got was none of that. aside from at your best and like, pink + white, he basically gave us nothing.
Fucked up US mentality. He does not owe you shit. He played some songs, you got the chance to see some live music of an artist you supposedly enjoy and that's it. Expectations are on you, not on him. Stop consuming artists
I agree with what your trying to say. But bro is just trying to promote talent, that’s it. As for him not giving a fuck about his fans, bro has always had a “ fuck you I am gonna do what I want to” attitude. Huge Frank fan, and maybe he isn’t doing the best mentally but that was a really horrible decision from Frank right there just to exploit Coachella workers.
@@aronistak8156 Him changing the whole set last minute despite how hard it would be on the crew members, proves he has a 'fuck you i am gonna do what i wanna do' attitude. No respect or consideration for anyone else but him. I sympathise that he lost a family member, but that is his responsibility to communicate in a professional manner to the coachella team in advance. But he just turned up and did want he wanted last minute. Stop making excuses for a grown man. It was wrong, period.
He probably don't give a shit about the whole thing anymore. I know what he said but I'm willing to bet it probably has nothing to do with y'all. Fame is a hell of a drug.
My bf asked me today if I would still listen to his music. I thought long and hard about it. The answer was ultimately no. I been rocking with Frank since the Lonnie and tumblr days; I'm old-old lol. I loved his artistry and that "IDGAF" attitude made me love him more (i.e. Def Jam). After Blond dropped, I was like, "Yeah he's in his bag now." He was technically independent so, surely, we would get more of him, right? It's like his independence from the label made him more "IDGAF bout nun of this shit" which is where the disrespect to his fans started. First was the string of festival cancellations. Second was the extreme price of merch he dropped bc who can seriously afford $150 for a hoodie??? Third was the lack of communication regarding why said merch items took up to a year to ship. Fourth was the fact that this man only posted or gave us ANYTHING when he needed money (although I'm sure he lives a pretty comfortable lifestyle). The last and final straw as a Frank Ocean fan is absolutely Coachella. At what point does "mysterious and reclusive" turn into blatant disregard and disrespect for a whole body of people that's funding your lifestyle? There's no excuse for this. And fuck this guy's PR team for that shitty comment. It ain't nothing wrong with ya ankle if you can do all that hopping and jumping tf lmao.
Beyonce performed for the Muslims in the middle East while limping on stage a couple of weeks after surgery... That ankle injury statement is disgusting and disrespful!
@@PinkDesertEagle right…she killed that performance. She never commits to something that she might not be able to deliver because she knows what people sacrifice to be able to see her. Frank should take notes.
@Bigheartoneggshells Yeah injuring your ankle sure does suck. That being said, this idea that Frank Ocean exaggerated his ankle injury in order to skip his Coachella performance is not entirely far-fetched. We've seen other artists bail on concerts or events due to last-minute medical issues, only for the truth to come out later that they just weren't feeling it or didn't want to perform. It's not unheard of for performers to exaggerate or even fake injuries in order to get out of commitments they don't want to fulfill, amongst a diverse array of random excuses artists have made in the past. So regardless if you are disabled, have injured your ankle before, etc. its still not in your place to regulate social commentary in these scenarios and then set the ethical standards and guidelines for when we should or shouldn't question the world around us, and the behavior of people around us (rich celebrities in particular)- especially when its at the expense of our OWN health, our own financial stability, and sanity rich celebrities in particular. What of the the person of disability, in a wheelchair, who spent 2k to travel to see frank- got dehydrated waiting 12 hours in the heat to see frank, doesn't deserve to have any thoughts about all of this? or feelings? doubts? i don't mean to be rude, just saying it from a logical POV. Now, say we entertain this claim that he indeed badly injured his ankle. How does that explain the rest of his performance? how does injuring your ankle affect your ability or effort to sing live? You have people from all over the world spending thousands to come fly in and see you perform, and its one thing to sing live and have a mediocre voice. Its one thing to lip sync...but he didn't even bother lip syncing. It was beyond a lazy effort - and again, it's not unfair to say that he tends to lack professionalism, and is not as dedicated to his craft or his fans as he might appear, and ofc its a disregard for the efforts of his fellow performers and those who work behind the scenes to make a concert or festival possible. (ahem- love Frank in the studio. Outside the studio? He is a mediocre singer and performer) Again- i love franks music.would i personally spend over $100 to see him lip sync his way through a late, half-assed performance? Zero chance. I see what you are trying to say- I do agree that there are many fans that tend to disregard the humanity behind the artists they stan. But it works both ways- Frank is not a God. Talented? yes. but privileged no doubt- 99.9% of the human race can't afford to go on hiatus from their work, whatever it may be, for 7 years and have no (seriously) destructive consequences. Frank needs to put in more effort, stop taking these things for granted and at least make an attempt to be more sincere, kind and honest with his fans and community, which it seems he alienates for the most part.
This dude needs to be humbled, you can’t have this much disrespect for your fans. Even if he didn’t want to perform or have that ice rink, there are thousands of people who paid crazy money and travelled a long way to see this. If my favourite artist does this with no remorse I would be done with them
Yeah. I remember Kendrick concert and it was incredible, amazing performer. Rapped all the words to every song and got the crowd involved. He was professional with it and that’s how I believe all artists should be, especially with the amount of money you pay to see them
I was at the show, camped out for the tree acts before. Half the show you couldn’t even see him and after almost every song he would walk off stage for like 3 minutes. He still had an amazing voice though
The show was whack enough as is, no need to make up lies. He didn’t disappear for 3 minutes between songs. He disappeared for like 15 minutes for that dumbass DJ set but other than that he only ever “disappeared” for like 10-30 seconds.
This whole situation is crazy I’ve been seeing it all day on Twitter & TH-cam. I pray that his mental health will get better especially if it’s worse than what he’s letting on. But man you can’t justify what he did last night. I’m just a casual listener of his music but I can understand the frustration that is being expressed by everyone online.
Frank disrespected his fans. I’m sure we would’ve been happy even if he sat on a wooden stool and sang his heart out but we couldn’t get that as a bare minimum. His decision to change everything last minute does seem like an attempt at getting Coachella to cancel on him so he wouldn’t have to perform. However, he still owes it to his fans to perform because he wouldn’t be where he is without them. Especially on an event as big and expensive as Coachella. Imagine the fans that saved up for such a long time just to see him finally perform at least once in their lifetime and they get this!? What a slap in the face! Personally, I’m starting to notice that Frank has some sort of ego where if he doesn’t feel like doing something he won’t do it, even at the cost of his fan base. He should have channeled the emotion from the mourning of the loss of his brother to dedicate a performance to him and fill that performance with pure emotion. That would’ve been worth it for all his fans. Honestly I’m not even excited for his new album anymore. I feel like when I listen to it, it’ll be tainted with the disrespect he’s put upon us as his fans. I guess I’ll have to be happy with the memories and emotions his current projects have supplemented in my life because he’s heading in the wrong direction as an artist.
I went to Coachella with bunch of friends but when we went to Franks set and he was late we decided to leave. Good thing too because the crowd was dull most of the time and he wasn’t happy at all so we are expecting a better performance next week because if the same thing happens then it will be all my fault because they wanted to go to rolling loud but just for me we went to Coachella.
I love Frank, and understand he has been through a horrible experience and get why he stopped social media and music in general, but if he isn`t ready to come back yet, he just shouldn`t. what he did last night was disrespectful towards both his fans and the people that worked at the festival. we`ll wait for him whenever he feels ready
As one of his biggest stans and defenders, I 100 percent agree. It's mad weird tbh. Like he must be aware at some level and if he isn't, then his mental health might be in a worse spot than we imagine. I think, maybe, after all this time he just doesn't want the mantle of this big superstar and maybe a fuck up is freeing in some way. It seemed purposefully self-destructive in a similar to (stick with me here) maybe a Bieber or a Miley or even Michael Jackson where it just becomes too much and you do stuff to kind of disappoint people so they stop expecting so much. But I felt like he kinda already did that with Blonde -- he was by his own words "just a guy and not a god". I don't think any of us (myself included) expect anything mind-melding or mind-blowing -- just some new songs or at least a solid performance of classics (which he did in parts). This was like a high-end Karaoke session you have with your friends, except it was a headline show. I just wish him the best but it was definitely frustrating.
very good point about the self-destructive angle, it truly wouldn’t make sense otherwise. he has to have known at least to some degree how badly this would go over. if this is what it takes for him to feel free from the burden of expectations then so be it, but it really sucks for so many people to have to suffer for it.
Having done stagehand work for a while now,I cannot imagine how frustrating that must have been for everyone involved- it’s already pretty well known inside stagehand circles that Coachella is a nightmare to work. Hundreds of folks with little direction working 12+ hour shifts in the desert to make shows happen. In that kind of environment, even small changes to stage plots can be a huge fuckin hassle, not even considering all the shit you get from people attending when things go wrong.
you nailed it with the "movie" analogy. for a good 10 mins on that tiktok live, i thought what we could see on the screen was a pre-recorded video waiting for Frank to get on stage
I only had one opportunity to see Frank in Australia 10+ years ago and he cancelled on the day while I was on the way to the venue. Glad I didn't fly out to see him at Coachella 😢
There's a difference between giving due credit to a person's substantial accomplishments and idolizing a person to the point of delusion. Even the way Shawn is introducing Frank and his music in the beginning of this video helps to illustrate why Frank behaves the way he does professionally. People saying that his music created an entire genre and aesthetic that is still influential today are letting their fanaticism show a little too much. None of these superstar artists are infallible, and when someone like Frank acts brazenly entitled in full view of the world, nobody wants to accept that he has probably always been this way. Instead, you hear people say "what is going on with him, he must be experiencing some sort of mental decline". Nope, likely just ego showing a little more than people like to see.
This was not a “finesse”. He’s somehow managed to make his reputation even worse and opened himself up to a lawsuit from Coachella for not fulfilling his part of the deal through deliberately delaying and ultimately not finishing his performance in full.
there’s a very different way to care yourself and then care for being the artist you show yourself as, having family issues and going through what he is going through shouldn’t be the reason people can’t see your performance live, it shouldn’t be the reason why you start late and end early, it shouldn’t be the reason people have to find some shitty stream online because they can’t afford to see you performance in person, frank is a goat, no doubt will go down as one of the best, but this was a horrible reaction to coming back to the limelight, he should’ve just started with a small show if this all was too much for him, he had months to ready himself and months to back pedal, may frank do well and better, but this was a bad result for someone that always expected the best out of himself
i agree, going through shit in life is not an excuse to be an inconsiderate asshole. at the end of the day, coachella is a JOB, one that he did not have to take, but he did, and he performed that job incredibly poorly. he is not exempt from criticism just because hes going through some shit. last time i had to deal with the passing of someone close to me, i didnt get a pass from work. i took two days off for the funeral and i was back after the weekend, and i STILL had to do my job the best i could because if not, i would have been fired. if he wasnt ready to perform, he shouldnt have headlined coachella, simple as that
For real, he’s a grown-ass man with financial obligations in situations like this, people aren’t here to take the brunt of his shit, that’s not what people paid their wages for. This shit’s childish as fuck to do to anybody, fuck “the fans” specifically, nobody, the festival workers, deserves to get okey-doked like this.
@@COWBOYPRIESTESS yeah i did see that he was pressurised to be headliner but then again if his health was really affected surely he would speak up for himself, i am a very huge frank fan and I’d do anything to see him perform but it’s sad how he has been for the people that are fans and spent money to watch him perform and for us who were watching on terrible laggy live streams just to see it, Ofcourse this was my personal choice but I’m in the UK and literally was up at 6am to see the live streams on ig
Like we all do once we’re done taking breaks. We start back from ground one with the extra pedals. I don’t care it’s not perfect I see it as perfect. Don’t shun the man as I see all over the internet with overstatements bruh. Many of your favs had journeys in their career constantly fighting this battle. For any artist it’s important to have your craft and rightfully shown with their vision. So maybe one day you can get that truth of what he feels just let the bro peak as he his. Frank fans have this side where some are haters in disguise just going for the kill. Inconceivable!!! Hypocrisy this all is.

I didnt spend a dime on this performance and even I’m v frustrated.. the years of anticipation and then last minute not being live-streamed.. staying up til 2am bc im in a different time zone.. i can’t imagine how the people who camped out all day and spent thousands flying out feel.
Last year, what really made the push for me to go to Coachella was brockhamptons performance. this was because they were breaking up, announced that it was their last performance, and I was a new fan and they were my favorite artists at the time. While I'm very happy I was able to see their performance, my first and last time, I was a bit salty that their performance was bitter, Kevin Abstract was being sassy to his fellow bandmates and said some pessimistic things. Artists deserve respect for privacy and fans shouldn't push expectations for artists, but if an artist chooses to give a service/perform, fans deserve respect as well. Especially since fans are human and put their own money and time into supporting the artist and attending concerts/festivals.
i work at a hotel close by that had about 90% of guests be coachella-goers and this is my 2nd year there; so when festivals come around i like to ask guests who they're excited to see. so when i asked this year, apart from Bad Bunny, Franks name was up there in favorites. so many people coming from Holland, from Canada, all over the place. seeing them excited to see him after being hidden 6 or something years and him doing this, i felt like this was a HUGE SLAP IN THE FACE FOR THE FANS. the actual fans
Frank Ocean was on stage dressed like he left his house real quick to go to 7 Eleven for a drink but then released he had to be at Coachella in 5 minutes
Imagine you buy tickets to coachella, probably a months worth or more of paycheques to see one of your favourite artists, and become witness to a security guard twerking, weird edm remixes, and a listening party💀 I would actually stop listening, this is actually bad
@@KiNGoKaizo Plenty of people were likely tipped to go by Frank being a headliner. Doubt many if any only attended his performance, but it would obviously be mad disappointing to see this
Not to mention there’s probably 100+ poor souls in that audience that were plastered on LSD/Shrooms/Molly since Frank is always jacking its use in the music. Bad works.
@@wojakc7745 I just can't agree man. imo when you enjoy an artist, you take the good and bad as a fan. It's something a kanye, an andre 3000 would do... these are creative minds that just happen to make music we enjoy. show was visually, and sonically stunning amongst the chaos.
I love this guy. He sings angelically, and it does seem that his passion is there, but he just doesn't care. He enjoys being up there, but he doesn't want to reach what we expected to be the minimal requirements. I don't think we'll get a lot more from this guy, sadly, people are dissapointed, but be happy he even showed up tbh. I never expected to see him make an appearance anywhere ever again. But he enjoyed his time on stage, visibly, he just didn't really care about satisfying his fans and making an actual show. Letting your best songs play out while you just stand on stage doing nothing is a weird move. I think I'd rather wanted him to not perform than him deliver this. It's kinda like having a famous singer as a friend, inviting him to a party and then in the middle of it asking him if he wants to sing a little for you and the others. He'll do it and have fun doing it, but he is putting no effort into it and just doing it for fun. This is Frank, he sounds hella good, but it's more like they just found him on the streets and asked if he wanted to make an appearance quickly, it's just not coachella material Frank. But I did enjoy seeing a man with massive talent take the stage and have fun, it's good, I just expected more, a lot more.
I don’t really mind him not live-streaming the set because that’s completely his choice as an artist to opt out of it and Bjork did it prior to her performance as well. The real issue is the disrespect towards the Coachella workers who had to construct that stage, the people who helped him create the stage production as a whole, and everyone who paid money to go see him perform.
Being a Frank Ocean fan hasn’t been fun, outside of listening to the music of nostalgia,ULTRA., channel ORANGE, Endless and Blonde and a couple of singles here and there, he’s nothing but a ghost. A shadow of what he once was. I wouldn’t mind him not putting anything out, even for a decade of no album I’d be fine with it, if he was simply more open and honest with his fandom online about how he was feeling and what he was up to. A simple story post like “I’m sorry, I understand you guys are frustrated with me, but please understand I’m going through a lot of personal stuff in my life right now that I’m dealing with” and there, done. He’s never been very open and honest. I understand he’s a very private person who hardly ever goes on social media and only uses it nowadays to promote his expensive jewelry brand Homer. He doesn’t owe anyone new music, he’s got no obligation to release a new album just ‘cause the fans want it. However it just feels like blatant disrespect that he goes quiet for so many years without saying a single word about what he’s been up to in order to keep his fans in the loop, the same fans who’ve followed him for over a decade that he wouldn’t be where he is without. That whole act of mysteriously popping out once in a blue moon online to promote your jewelry brand that average people can’t afford or an Apple Music radio interview where you hardly talk and it’s barely audible due to the loud background music is just getting old, stop beating around the bush and just say something. If you can take the time to make a post about Homer or whatever, you can take time to be honest and upfront towards your fans as well. It’s called being courteous.
Honestly if he wants to retire, then he should, but no one gains from this. Not him, not the fans which are souring on him, and especially not any of the people that are forced to work around his last minute decisions. Daft Punk was one of my favorite groups ever, and it sucked to see them split, but the more I see artists like Frank Ocean and Drake who, let's be real, checked out years ago, I realize that it was the right decision. If it's time it's time, but no one wins with this Jordan on the Wizards bs.
it’s crazy to think about how when you’re as elusive and yet beloved as frank ocean, you’re fanbase gets so desperate for any type of interaction with you to the point where you feel this comfortable giving them the absolute bare minimum.
I was there it was terrible the set was so confused it felt like he was performing by force. It took a long time before he went on stage and in some songs he didn't sing at all. I left so disappointed, I paid a lot of money to see him after 6 years. He didn't deserve this stage
I'm 19 I appreciate you speaking on this Shawn My Father and I aren't on the best terms I rarely ever talk to him because given his impact on my upbringing as I grew older I felt disappointed and utterly shattered by what he did to me without any guidance or support raised by a Single mother but I would never use that to publicize my anger and hate to make myself look bad on others In hindsight I love him I'm wishing the best for him but not to make this about me lol it takes zero absolutely zero reason to be a dickhead even as a fan of his Music he should never exemplify that I'm praying he gets the spiritual and mental help that he needs ♥️
I saw the Jhope documentary and his stage at last year Lollapolaza and then then I saw Frank's stage this and it's like... wow, what a difference. One artist seemed to care about his craft while being derided while the other is still lauded despite his lack of respect for his fans and collaborators.
I started going to festivals last year and love the culture around it. I can't imagine going to a festival to see what Frank did, half-assing it and making sudden changes last minute. I feel for the people who went to Coachella excited to see Frank Sunday night and they got this. The festival is a service, they pay artists to perform and people pay sometimes crazy money to go to the festival to see the performers perform. The least the artist can do is put their all into the performance. I hope Frank understands why people are frustrated and if he performs this weekend, gives a performance worthy of being an end of night/festival closer.
He got dropped. Blink-182 is now covering his spot which is just, wow. I didn't even know you could get dropped on the second weekend if you performed the first.
Well I mean all the stuff is scripted for the entertainment value. I’m still stunned by Dom going against his family, when you understand Latino families have an unbreakable bond. This Frank Ocean fiasco wasn’t scripted.
Frank's FYF set was the best concert I've ever been to, but Coachella was so weird. This set had a couple of great moments, but was unnecessarily delayed, awkward, and even had a creepy/evil vibe at times. Still wishing him the best and hope he gets over whatever combination of things lead to this hiccup in an incredible career.
2:52 Shawn was spot on here, business is business. People are really defending a guy who gets constantly praised for finessing DEF JAM out $20 million. People only take business into account when it’s convenient for them, only when it makes their fave looks good. Frank needs to apologize and do some damage control with his Weekend 2 performance, there’s no other way to go about it.
This video perfectly encapsulated my thoughts on this matter. I, as a frank ocean fan, only sacrificed sleep and convince to see the set. But like ppl gave up they whole lives for this set man. I feel like his disconnect from the fans and ppl in general has left him tone deaf. And you would say all these last minute changes is all for the sake of artistry but it's like nothing special came out of the set. And it's hard to sit with that fact that someone who literally changed your life with their music is doing shit like this seemingly cause they can. Good video man 💃🏽
I feel for frank and what he's been through, but I think there needs to be a realization that he's not the only one going through shit in life and that his fans shouldn't suffer at all for it. I would've been okay if I didn't have to watch morgan's (she's a legend for all the effort) ig live for a performance like that. Again, I just don't get Frank's way of thinking in this scenario.
What’s crazy is that he doesn’t want to really do any of his. I mean he said he only used music as motivation to get out of his situation back then, and even now, before he went on he went off on Coachella staff and he felt like he was being forced to be there, but who could blame him? We as fans want frank back after 7 years, frank isn’t even with the music anymore, he even showed us. He’s busy with jewelry not music.

@@sarthakjain1824 that's a little much
As much as I want to sympathize with him because his mental health probably isn’t the greatest, it’s honestly unacceptable to change everything last minute like he did after weeks of preparation.
Tragic

exactly! this could have been a huge resume opportunity for so many hard working people who do rigging, lighting, vdj design, front of house audio, festival audio, pyrotechnics/and stage tech, dancers, session musicians, etc. all of this work is mostly contract and comes with no opportunity for employer based health insurance and makes filing taxes even harder and now after all that hard work they can't even feel dignified to mention their contibutions to this h e a d l i n i n g f e s t i v a l s e t... that is sad
So outta pocket. I was supposed to see Frank at Coachella in 2020 but obviously we all know what happened. And if this would have happened at my show I would beat him up personally even though I love him. Lol
man I wanna work at coachella one day
Idk if bro really understands the privileged position he’s in to be able to NOT drop a full length project for up to 7 years at this point and still be a household name.

He is a mediocre singer and performer)
Again- i love franks music.would i personally spend over $100 to see him lip sync his way through a late, half-assed performance? Zero chance. I see what you are trying to say- I do agree that there are many fans that tend to disregard the humanity behind the artists they stan. But it works both ways- Frank is not a God. Talented? yes. but privileged no doubt- 99.9% of the human race can't afford to go on hiatus from their work, whatever it may be, for 7 years and have no (seriously) destructive consequences. Frank needs to put in more effort, stop taking these things for granted and at least make an attempt to be more sincere, kind and honest with his fans and community, which it seems he alienates for the most part.

No matter how much I love Frank Ocean I have to admit this performance is undefendable

Fr, he's a really good artist, but there can only be one 🐐. All time literally suggests "of all time".😂
Having done stagehand work for a while now,I cannot imagine how frustrating that must have been for everyone involved- it’s already pretty well known inside stagehand circles that Coachella is a nightmare to work.
Nigga thought he was in a listening party 😂
The fact that people are even surprised is ... surprising.
I only had one opportunity to see Frank in Australia 10+ years ago and he cancelled on the day while I was on the way to the venue. Glad I didn't fly out to see him at Coachella 😢
😮 why does he do this!
He’s somehow managed to make his reputation even worse and opened himself up to a lawsuit from Coachella for not fulfilling his part of the deal through deliberately delaying and ultimately not finishing his performance in full.
there’s a very different way to care yourself and then care for being the artist you show yourself as, having family issues and going through what he is going through shouldn’t be the reason people can’t see your performance live, it shouldn’t be the reason why you start late and end early, it shouldn’t be the reason people have to find some shitty stream online because they can’t afford to see you performance in person, frank is a goat, no doubt will go down as one of the best, but this was a horrible reaction to coming back to the limelight, he should’ve just started with a small show if this all was too much for him, he had months to ready himself and months to back pedal, may frank do well and better, but this was a bad result for someone that always expected the best out of himself
i agree, going through shit in life is not an excuse to be an inconsiderate asshole. at the end of the day, coachella is a JOB, one that he did not have to take, but he did, and he performed that job incredibly poorly. he is not exempt from criticism just because hes going through some shit. last time i had to deal with the passing of someone close to me, i didnt get a pass from work. i took two days off for the funeral and i was back after the weekend, and i STILL had to do my job the best i could because if not, i would have been fired. if he wasnt ready to perform, he shouldnt have headlined coachella, simple as that
@@udontknowme00 Period 💯
I been a Frank Fan since the Lonny Breaux collection, we been waiting six years and this is what he gave, honestly it’s just a slap in the face to many of us and I can’t rock with bro like that no more. Ppl spent money, lost money, lost jobs and sleep to see him and he does this.
Agreed
We gotta say sorry to drake for wanting to see this man at golfwang festival. Drake knew what’s up
Definitely the promoters faults for keeping the main headliner secret. Massive L for that Golf festival 💀💀
@@PhoenixxFMnah
@@sondersonics7534 If they had just said from the beginning Drake was headlining it would've been fine. Everybody thought it would be Frank and then boo'ed bro off stage.
Feel like keeping the headliner secret will always cause disappointment.
That shit was on the festival, straight up.
People really need to stop glorifying and idolizing these artists. He did what he’s been getting away with for the longest. You couldn’t pay me to see him, summer walker, or lauryn hill in concert. They will show up late and not give a damn.
Especially since fans are human and put their own money and time into supporting the artist and attending concerts/festivals.
aaaaa i saw brockhampton for their last show in London
i work at a hotel close by that had about 90% of guests be coachella-goers and this is my 2nd year there; so when festivals come around i like to ask guests who they're excited to see. so when i asked this year, apart from Bad Bunny, Franks name was up there in favorites. so many people coming from Holland, from Canada, all over the place. seeing them excited to see him after being hidden 6 or something years and him doing this, i felt like this was a HUGE SLAP IN THE FACE FOR THE FANS. the actual fans
Frank Ocean was on stage dressed like he left his house real quick to go to 7 Eleven for a drink but then released he had to be at Coachella in 5 minutes
Imagine you buy tickets to coachella, probably a months worth or more of paycheques to see one of your favourite artists, and become witness to a security guard twerking, weird edm remixes, and a listening party💀
I would actually stop listening, this is actually bad
You'd be a fool
imagine buying a weekend ticket just see frank ocean and missing out 72 hours of great music...
Super rich kid with nothing but loose ends
W pfp
Frank was at coachella but he is not your saviour
😂😂😂
Frank really make us the biggest *BRUH* on history...
This is quite a departure from “…I should be payin’ y’all honest to God…”
Frank just popped out to see his shadow now he’s gone into hibernation for another 6 years
This is karma for how Frank’s fans treated Drake at camp Flog Gnaw 😂
Honestly if he wants to retire, then he should, but no one gains from this. Not him, not the fans which are souring on him, and especially not any of the people that are forced to work around his last minute decisions. Daft Punk was one of my favorite groups ever, and it sucked to see them split, but the more I see artists like Frank Ocean and Drake who, let's be real, checked out years ago, I realize that it was the right decision. If it's time it's time, but no one wins with this Jordan on the Wizards bs.
At least drake puts in effort in his shows.

it’s crazy to think about how when you’re as elusive and yet beloved as frank ocean, you’re fanbase gets so desperate for any type of interaction with you to the point where you feel this comfortable giving them the absolute bare minimum.
I'm very sorry for the fans who dropped hundreds to see this flop. Also as a fan I hope Frank is able to regain our trust someday.
mmmm love the toxic relationship this dynamic embodies lol
Spot on! Fans and everyone involved deserve a bit of respect
I didn't even know you could get dropped on the second weekend if you performed the first.
you weren’t there g, sounded upset asf when he got off stage.
You ain't seen nothing till you see the twerking security guard 😭
Still my favorite artist . I’m glad I missed this tho
As both a kanye and a frank fan, i have 0 will to live.
Donda had bangers don't lie.
I was jumping through lives to see this😭 I was so hurt
Everything he told y'all not to do
This hurt more than Cody losing to Roman at Mania 39.
that had to happen tho but this shouldn't have happened
Well I mean all the stuff is scripted for the entertainment value. I’m still stunned by Dom going against his family, when you understand Latino families have an unbreakable bond. This Frank Ocean fiasco wasn’t scripted.
I can’t believe there still using the same old ass Roman script
I went to Mania lol I was in disbelief that Cody didn't win
Frank's FYF set was the best concert I've ever been to, but Coachella was so weird. This set had a couple of great moments, but was unnecessarily delayed, awkward, and even had a creepy/evil vibe at times. Still wishing him the best and hope he gets over whatever combination of things lead to this hiccup in an incredible career.
2:52 Shawn was spot on here, business is business. People are really defending a guy who gets constantly praised for finessing DEF JAM out $20 million. People only take business into account when it’s convenient for them, only when it makes their fave looks good.
Frank needs to apologize and do some damage control with his Weekend 2 performance, there’s no other way to go about it.
prank ocean
Scam Ocean
Shawn really hit the nail on the head with this one
This video perfectly encapsulated my thoughts on this matter. I, as a frank ocean fan, only sacrificed sleep and convince to see the set. But like ppl gave up they whole lives for this set man. I feel like his disconnect from the fans and ppl in general has left him tone deaf. And you would say all these last minute changes is all for the sake of artistry but it's like nothing special came out of the set. And it's hard to sit with that fact that someone who literally changed your life with their music is doing shit like this seemingly cause they can.
Good video man 💃🏽
For that performance he should owe the crowd money
