Loved the video man and I wholeheartedly agree with your stances. I’ve been seeing this notion of “Well Frank doesn’t owe us anything” and that’s right, he doesn’t just like I don’t owe anybody anything but that doesn’t mean we, as everyday people, are allowed to just not follow through on our obligations, especially ones we’re getting paid for. And although he doesn’t owe his fans anything, he does owe us respect. We’ve respected him for years, despite how he’s treated his fans, we’ve all been super dedicated and loyal to him (and I’m not the fan that’s like WE DEMAND MORE MUSIC) if he didn’t want to make another album, that’s totally fine, he can go and fade into obscurity but it’s the fact that he keeps saying things like “it’s coming” and dropping breadcrumbs when he knows how the fan base will take that. Idk just all around a disappointment.
This is all very funny because if you were really a frank ocean fan you would know and like how he really is, not that "he knows how the fan base will take that". he didn't disrespect nobody at all, not even the people who worked at that(first of all, dangerous) ice rink, because he paid them! The fan base he is really worry about(or not worry at all) is the one who is ready to accept him and the delivery of his art, because thats what they want to see: him beeing him and the way he feels to show it! not to choose which songs he would perform, how he would perform them, how much he pets people in the show, if they care too much for some delays with the show and how long he would take to release new songs. If you are trying to box his approach in some way you are used to from another artists you are crearly ain't paying attention and doesn't know him at all. Frank Ocean is my favourite fucking artist since he started and that was one of the most amazing and memorable performances experiences I ever witnessed in my life for a lot of reasons, you should be thankful. The truth is most people are just pissed because he didn't play the hits they wanted to hear exactly the way it is on spotify and you don't accept the way he makes things wanting him to be something else
@@yahard42 i like how you said “ you should be thankful” to a person who was paid $4 million dollars to give us Literally nothing ! He showed up an hour and a half late gave us like 4 songs and you still have the audacity to say we should be thankful. Girl bye fans like you are the reason why he keeps doing shit like this. He had no respect for anyones time and effort. At the end of the day he was being a drama queen and should’ve never said yes to performing in the first place.
How could he have been more respectful? He wasn't late because he was partying or not giving a fuck, they were working on the stage until 10:45p. And he's not touring blonde. He doesn't have to sing Nikes and Nights or Pyramids. He went in and freshened up all the other versions he played and they sounded phenomenal. The visuals were done well. I find it hard to ask for more when I got a lot out of a set that was fresh as fck on a myriad of levels.
For the ‘Frank doesn’t owe you anything’ people, if he accepts a contract to do a performance, and you pay the price of admission, he does in fact owe you a decent standard of performance that starts on time. That is literally the bare minimum.
@@shadow_realm47you need more self respect if you’re paying $1000 for a festival ticket for one artist. On top of that the show wasn’t bad, and if you have more artists to support you wouldn’t care WAY too much about this one artist. Gain more hobbies.
@@KingBigJules Who said you should hate him ? You can like an artist and still have an objective opinion about them. Holding someone accountable doesn't mean hating.
@@KingBigJules I don't think he's a bad person after this. It was just an asshole move that will stain his reputation. That being said, a lot of other artists have done way worse things.
@@KingBigJules I don’t hate him or his music, but I do doubt his love for his music or his fans a lot. The mysterious mystic personality he has is starting to get annoying a bit and worn down
Frank literally needs to be up front with everything. If he doesn’t have any motivation to make music or just do anything he needs to tell everyone. There isn’t a lot of excuses for the way he behaved or what he did.
He doesn’t owe anybody shit, the same way that you don’t owe anybody shit. At the end of the day he’s just a dude like the rest of us. Granted, my opinion doesn’t make yours wrong, but that’s just how I feel
@@cs7611 I paid for my Coachella tickets, I think I’m owed a decent performance. I literally would’ve been happy if he just showed up and sang without all the extra shit. He doesn’t owe me anybody anything except the obligations and the deal he made to perform at Coachella which people flew to from all over the country. People waited for hours. I was a hardcore fan. I stood in the crowd for hours and hours just to hear him sing and he played a whole dj set no one asked for and didn’t even sing some of his songs. I love his music but I’m not gonna defend his actions especially if it’s disrespectful. All he had to do was the bare minimum. Everyone put so much effort, not only his fans but the people who worked there to set his stage and perform. Literally everyone I met there bought those tickets to see HIM. lol
@@itselllyyy Your disappointment is valid. From what I've seen Frank has good dedicated fans, they're not unkind even though they have every right to be so. He doesn't deserve the Hype, he's a special artist but at some stage we have to accept that he's a poor performer or at the very least an absentee performer. All that money, fame and fandom does come with obligation. If an artist doesn't care about their own people should the people still show them love?
Easily spent 2k to go see this man as a bucket list item. Been a fan for over a decade since I was a teenager and now that I have a stable job with good cash flow this was my first big purchase. I heard so much about how he treats his fans (not refunding vinyls that ship months late and are shattered) but I guess I chalked it up to having a bad team. After this, I truly feel he resents his fans. Whether it’s because of fame, anxiety, etc he resents us. Doesn’t resent the money we earn him though
@@iggydeez cause he had a bad set? bruh, you got guys like kanye out here endorsing hitler and frank fans are losing it because he had a bad set and cancelled a show?? what frank done was shitty but cmon
@@donttouchmysoda6178 he didn’t have a bad set, he actively decided to do so. Don’t say it like he just got unlucky. He’s been pulling these stunts for years, even before the loss of his brother
Speaking from the perspective of a person that went w2 I’m glad he dropped out. Skrillex, four tet, and Fred’s set was legendary. I loved every single minute of it and I could feel their passion. Although I was so so upset and sad I’m still glad I went. Coachella wasn’t the best experience (60 hour drive total for me and car camping) but I still loved it. I met some amazing people and I got to see skrillex for the first time, porter’s set was so touching, and pusha t’s set was passionate! Can’t say I’ll do it again but I’m glad I did it once at least 😭
what bothers me the most about the whole situation is that, even though some factors were out of his control, he still has yet to apologize about having to cut it short and the multiple issues throughout the show
From the info presented, most of the factors were within his control. The only things I can see not being within his control are his foot injury (which wasn’t really all that bad based on the footage) and his grief for his brother, which is really kind of just an excuse since he could’ve cancelled the show long ago. Sure production was being annoying initially, but they got everything done the way he wanted just for him to tell them to tear everything down last minute.
This is the best take I've seen on this whole situation so far: being empathetic to Frank's possible situation, holding him accountable, and validating your first-hand experience as a fan and others. I definitely got more insight into the stage situation and see how that could piss more people off since he was practically sitting behind a backdrop and metal beams which I didn't really make out during the live streams. As much as people would want to make out Frank's performance to be this "avant-garde performance piece on space and time with the long breaks in between," it really was a cop-out and is chaotic at the end of the day. I definitely love Frank's musicianship and creativity at the end of the day and I don't see that diminishing anytime soon, but I most definitely think he needs to reevaluate how he should go about committing to his obligations, instead of fulfilling them half-assed. Cause at the end of the day your not only screwing the people who put money into you over, but you're screwing yourself and your credibility over. Mucho love :)
Thank you so much for this comment. Many of these comments have been really amazing to read and I do believe that he must be accountable. Once again thank you for watching the video
This is unreal. I cant imagine how i would react if this happened to me and i am very impressed with your patience and understanding even though you have every right to be mad. We support whatever you do KILLIVVN, take your time 👍
As a Kali Uchis Fan I was very annoyed w frank ocean fans because they wouldn’t let us go to the front 😒 it was so annoying. So I’m not gonna lie I was kinda glad to hear y’all got scammed for one second lol then I felt bad. Smh 🤦🏻♀️ he shouldn’t have headlined
The truth is, I just hope that Frank apologizes to his fans because this was bullshit of him, although we know that we may not see him for a long time.
dudes thats what im saying. all the people i talked to there were regular young people who went just for frank, myself included. i also heard people from australia, chile, mexico, sweden, all across the world saying that they came for him. everybody came out all this way to see you frank! when ppl were like what did you expect i was like i expected to at least be able to see him! u said u put urself in debt so did i, i paid it off but during nights when everyone was singing "you know you need the money if you gon survive//know them boys wanna see me broke down nd sht bummed out nd sht stressed out nd sht" you can feel and hear the passion behind these peoples voices because were really all in the struggle!
@@jessicajimenez7835 yeah that sucks… but he doesn’t deserve all the shit he’s getting, he’s probably still grieving. That shit never goes away no matter how long it’s been, it’s amazing that he actually came out and performed.
There was never a time in his career where he wasn’t difficult. All the way back to sampling songs on nostalgia ultra album without getting clearance, and then being a baby about it.
This had the potential to be such a great possibly career defining performance... Such a shame. Im a little tired of hardcore fans trying to defend him for this performance. I can't even begin to imagine what it's like to unexpectedly lose a close loved one. But business is business and if you're going to show up to a performance. It's not too much to ask for a somewhat competent performance. Especially from Frank who we know is capable of fantastic genuinely moving live performances. If ANY other artist (ie.. Justin Bieber) did something similar he would be relentlessly lambasted for it, even by his core fanbase. But because Frank is such a a well respected artist and a critical darling of the music industry. People feel like they need to defend him. Bad actions need to be called out, regardless of who causes them.
Exactly. Frank reminds me of that guy that secretly loves attention/pissing people off while playing the "cool/mysterious" card. If he was actually cool, he would have tried in his performance and not fuck with everyone involved, from the set designers to the roadies, the ice-skaters, the audience, etc.
Fortunately, I think the majority of Frank fans are not defending him for this move. Actually, they are harshly criticizing him. I take this measure by his Frank Ocean subreddit.
It’s crazy really😭. Frank would have been out of everyone’s mouth by 2017 but these fans have been treating him like he saved the world for 6+ years. Being by his side and defending him regardless of what he did. They deserve all the disrespect.
You pay $600 to see him you are a fan a true fan. He absolutely owes you something he owes you a show, that you as a fan who keeps him were he is in the industry because of your love and dedication he owe that relationship some love and respect and thanks.
he canceled days before fyf festival 2015, i can relate definitely a disappointing feeling. never let people tell you how to feel you were waiting everyday for months for that show.
i'm listening to Frank since 14 y.o. He was the first black artist i've listened and then I found out about hip hop, r&b and many cool artists. Though in my country it is not popular and it was hard to find out about this because I hadn't an internet till 14 y.o. I felt like a part of something big and global after listening to this amazing music and it inspired me to learn English and to be involved in something that will expand my mind so as I'll be able to leave my village one day and make it big, see the world. I feel your dissapointment. Thousands of people made so much effort to appear there, to see him, to hear his voice and sing together familiar songs. It's sad
Mental health or not.. when you sign that dotted line you have to put in your professional suit on. There’s no excuse for Franks action. He just don’t give a shit about his fans.
People call off work all the time after signing on the dotted line... does this mean they don't care about their job? Or students, if they're teachers?🤷🏾♂️
@@DrRDW teachers work pretty much everyday.. Frank barely performs bruh. Don’t even compare and teachers make less than 43k a year. Frank made 4 million just this Coachella performance. Don’t compare.
@@swimin7357 we don't know what he does when he's not performing. I guarantee you he's not sitting around watching TH-cam doing nothing. Concerts are what the fans see. That's not the full job. And compensation doesn't necessarily determine whether you show up for work or not. So, yes, we can man a comparison in this instance.
I hope you feel better and heal man. What went down Sunday was a for sure shitshow. Take some time off and get your peace back brother, you got great content
Sorry for what happened. Same shit happened to me. Frank hates his own fucking fans. And I feel bad for the people that worked on that rink. All the money spent to go see Frank on Sunday. But me and my friends got scammed and also it is all my fault because they wanted to go to rolling loud. They still haven’t forgave me.
@@Kobiyachi_ That doesn't excuse what he did. He shouldn't have offered to perform if he knew he was going to do this. This is HIS FAULT & it's disgusting how many millions of dollars and countless hours he wasted
Is crazy see the excitement a hope in your eyes from the video before going to Coachella. I would have never imagined you’d come back so hurt and disappointed. 😢 sorry dude. It meant a lot to all of us but it must have hurt even more that you wasted so much time and money.
I’ve been listening to Frank Ocean since Nostalgia dropped. And this was the first time I saw him live….and oh man I was crushed man. Ruined the weekend, I went with cousins and friends and we all couldn’t believe what we witnessed. Thanks for sharing your truth coz so many were allowed to be mad.
The ungratefulness is insane man. Imagine the millions of aspiring artists that would love to spend a single moment receiving the same reverence as Frank. This was a Masterclass in disappointing fans.
Bro, I feel for you so much. I’m also a big Frank Ocean fan and was going to go to Coachella this year just for Frank but couldn’t because I didn’t get good enough college results to do study abroad this year in anywhere in California like I wanted to which was again basically only something I wanted to do to see Frank Ocean live that’s how much I was looking forward to it. I stayed up until 7 in the morning here in Ireland to see his set last week and only got to see it on some random IG live and I was angry at the lack of effort put into it from Frank but I can’t even imagine what it must be like for someone like yourself who spent so much to just see that lacklustre performance
My husband and I went broke to go see him b/c we thought he was WORTH that. Granted, that’s not on him cos we decided to buy the tickets anyways. I waited since Porter Robinson who honestly gave it his all for his performance and you can just feel how much gratitude he had to be able to perform there. I had no absurd expectations from Frank except to just hear him sing, I didn’t even care if he didn’t set up and elaborate performance. I literally would’ve been so happy just to hear and see him sing. But despite waiting for hours and having to sit through Bjork’s set, no offense to her, she put a lot of effort into her set. But she was not my type of tea. Then Frank delays the whole thing for an hour. Then takes long pauses in between his songs and then he spent the whole time inside his little “box” and shows a whole dj set THATS NOT EVEN HIM DJing. Then doesn’t even sing a huge chunk of his songs after. I also wanted to sing along and vibe with him but he basically did a cover to his own songs. Which would’ve been fine if not for all the other stuff. I just kept making excuses for him in my head. Because he was my fave. I went feeling disappointed. He even wanted to blame the event for not letting him play but bro literally made them melt a whole ice rink. & yes they made a whole lot of money cos of him but he still didn’t deliver.
I HATE all these other celebrities saying how beautiful his performance was. I BET it was sitting in the VIP section. Not having to stand for hours waiting for him. At least TWO people fainted during his set. They were not too far in front of me. & the least he could do was just give us a basic performance and I would’ve been happy as hell. Truly.
I made a video about Frank at Coachella the day before you posted this, I wish I saw this first. I believe he does owe something to his fans who paid to see him, y’all are the reason he got paid to be there. Thanks for your review, sorry you were disappointed ❤
@KILLIVVN I was so impressed with your video, I mentioned it at the end of my new video on what happened at Coachella: th-cam.com/video/U-10ihHveAM/w-d-xo.html
The only reason I would’ve went to Coachella this year is to see Frank Ocean. I’m sure that was the same or main reason for many others who went. So glad I didn’t waste my money because the show he gave is worth watching at home. It’s also sad that you have to give an elaborate explanation to validate your disappointment. Holding artists accountable for wasting fans time doesn’t make the fans entitled. Mans was paid $4 million PER show so high expectations is valid. I also don’t think Frank canceled because of a leg injury, he doesn’t even have a song that requires him to even stand up lol. Frank seems like a perfectionist which gets in the way of him sharing his vision and bridging the gap with his fanbase. It was apart of his image/brand but I feel likes there’s a disconnect between him and his fans now after coachella. I think he’s still a “behind the scenes” kind of guy from being a more of a writer at heart than a performer which is fine… but just stop booking shows and taking away headline spots from artists that actually want to be there. I want to know how HE prepared for Coachella because it sounds like he just found out about certain decisions the minute he arrived to Coachella. I feel like he must’ve put his ice skating idea in the hands of production and relied on creative directors to organize the show while he focused on the music/set list. He should’ve had more oversight on the creative direction to avoid seeing it last minute and scrapping the whole thing. If that’s the case then he can’t really be upset with anyone but himself.
you really put it best. his music helped a lot of us learn to express ourselves and our emotions. even though it didn’t turn out how we imagined i’m happy i had the pleasure to meet you and share that moment with you and other fans regardless. i really appreciate you taking the time to process what happened and share so much info with people who weren’t there. ❤ i’ve been trying to wrap my head around what happened too and i feel seen after listening to you. thank you!
Hope you recover Killivvn. The state of Frank ocean’s fan base right now is very divided and I understand if you have to take a break. Keep it supreme.
In comparison, Skrillex, Four Tet, and Fred Again... was called last minute to cover for Frank, and they did an incredible set. Kinda glad Frank dropped out
thank you so much for this video ! we finally have a reasonable opinion on what happened. i can’t agree with you more. much love and i hope you’ll be back soon ❤❤❤
I’ve been a massive Frank Ocean fan for over ten years now- so I am very familiar with his style of performing/ disinterest in touring or playing shows. However, agreeing to be a headlining act at maybe the biggest US festival of the year, and realizing moments before you’re not ready or over it, just isn’t fair to the fans and production teams. I really hate the sentiment of “you should know how Frank is by now”; that’s so unfair to say to fans who *believed in him* and believed he would come through. Along with the sentiment that the set performers “got paid anyway”. Those ice skaters are artists too, they deserve to perform and share their art and talent and being told moments before to walk in a circle for an hour is just disrespectful. I am deeply empathetic to his pain and grief and even just discomfort with performing, but this was just so frustrating and heartbreaking.
I bought Weekend 2 tickets and we flew out across the country to see him. It was sad and annoying to hear the news of him dropping out. That being said I still had a blast at my first Coachella and witness PHM legendary set
Frank Ocean will be around years from now, PHM/TBA... won't be so I think you lucked out in the end. Plus if you went to Jai Paul's set there was no need to so see Frank imitate him.
Man, the show was so raw idc. and as a casual fan of him, im very pleased. that’s the kind of set i dont mind waiting for, calvin harris on the other hand… and i dont say that bc i actively listen to one and not the other. but rather bc i got a visual artistic experience in addition to the music i came to hear. i was hella far from the stage bc i almost blacked out, and i still felt immersed in his vision. it seemed like he and the team were really enjoying themselves and when it comes down to it, thats all i can ask of an artist. im seeing a lot of people having gripes about waiting, about the setlist, etc. and its not that those arent valid, but if you’re familiar with frank you know hes not a traditional cookie cutter musician. the set was imbued with his other artistic endeavors and i thought that was a serious treat. plus to play the same songs for us, rework them and show that musical longevity can be achieved through simple means…that was a flex if you ask me but in regard to the criticisms, it kinda falls on deaf ears for me. i feel like a lot of fans project these weird, overdramatized standards and expectations on an artist who has literally never been one to do shit like that. like its no secret that he’s reclusive and doesn’t actively put out music on schedule like say the weeknd or tyler or whatever have you. so people acting like, shocked beyond comprehension is a little bit odd imo. for me, i saw an artist whose music and art has moved me significantly over the last decade, and to finally experience him and his art and the people who aided him in bringing it to us live, it just doesnt get better than that.
@@WildHeart7777 I’m a casual fan in the sense that I am very familiar and in tune with his music, but I don’t have a channel dedicated to the man. Frank being a headliner was the biggest driver in me buying a ticket, so yes, i did spend money to see him and I did so with no expectations of what I wanted it to be or what i think it should’ve been. I just accepted what was going to come. Regardless, I went to see him live - and i got that. The suckiest part was the lateness which resulted in him cutting the set short.
Imo , he definitely does owe the people what they paid for. especially considering all the turnoil revolving around the experience and the constant cliff hanging his fans , the merch not being delivered , the momentum breaking .. I'm not gonna apologize for his poor performance & organizing he should not have taken on Coachella if he wasn't ready or at least pretended to care if the timing was bad .. something .. I get it were fans and he had someone pass but idk It doesn't feel right excusing this performance either because he kinda just does this too and fans kinda just hamster drips whatever he gives out.. they deserve better
This is what happens when you deify people who don't respect you and he will keep doing this because, like Lauryn Hill, he will still have fans no matter how badly he treats them.
I was scared to click on this vid cause the thumbnail seemed so malicious, but my expectations were pleasantly subverted. The vibes felt akin to a love letter. KILLIVVN, I felt like you eloquently expressed disappointment, while showing love and respect you have for an artist's work. I'm sure your take here is resonating with many of us who love frank's work, but don't blindly agree with some of the choices he's been making ('chella performance, merch, etc.) Thank you for the time you put into this my guy
Having him cut livestream and have no merch made it feel like something actually good was on the way like new music but then we just kept getting more disappointed I feel like
To be honest y'all deserve this, take a step back and look how obsessive you're about frank ocean waiting since 5am just to see him? paying $$$ to see one artist at a festival and camping at the stage the entire day? These are signs of obsessive behaviors which is not good. We need to stop looking at artist as gods I love frank but I'm not about to camp out to see him and miss other artist just so I could be front row. Really look at all of these things you did just to see one guy its a little crazy.
thank you for video! you are an amazing person. i'm learning english while watching your videos, you have a very beautiful and clear speech so it's easy to understand every single word. thank you.
Watching this I just realized that people brainwash themselves with celebrities and musicians. Stop looking at these people as role models and or anything to aspire to be. They are just regular people with regular problems and personality disorders. Getting inspired is fine, but when you are lining up at 5 a.m. to see someone perform at 10 p.m. , you should really take a hard look at yourself and ask what the hell you’re doing. Go home and spend that time figuring out how to build a happy and succesfull life for yourself. You don’t NEED concerts, you need a full life.
Man, this video randomly popped up on my timeline and I honestly love the your level of respect and your manner of approach is beautiful, sorry y'all had an unpleasant experience bro
Frank doesn’t owe anyone new/more art. Frank DOES owe the Coachella concert-goers the performance that he signed up and got paid for. Idk how or why this is so difficult to understand. Frank was at work. He was there to do a job and he failed to complete it. If any one else did that they’d be fired. Having such little respect for the folks who supported him and made his lifestyle possible should make any rational person question his character - especially since this all seems very intentional.
im at the 21:50 mark and i think as you said hes still grieving. my grandfather recently passed away and im in a beautiful relationship with communication and just going through the waves cause the attachment when grieving. which is giving space and have my own life. my art in music is really dried out due to focusing on her and just me and beat myself up. i see him as a person that still needs time but still wanted to show something different. and still give the crowd what they want❤️
I was there at coachella for Frank, right up in the front/middle of the crowd. And don’t get me wrong, I’m a die hard Frank Ocean Fan, we all Waited for hourssss, stood in 1 spot, didn’t move at all. Yes he came out 1 hour late. But mannnn we he actually came out and sung then talked on the microphone, that was just it for me man, that was everything. Goosebumps all over my body, man I was just so happy I witnessed him, Couldn’t believe he pulled up, I was so scared he was going to cancel etc. All I can say from my experience, it wasn’t as good as i expected. BUT I’m still sooo sooo happy with it. I personally only liked a couple of the songs he remixed but wish he just performed them normally. So grateful to be there 🙏🏼
HELLO. I just want to say that I love the way you talk. You talk so nice and I don't even know which part of your talking I like but I think you deliver things in a very calm and honest way and it makes me feel so comfortable. Me and my friends all love Frank Ocean so I feel like I'm listening to my friend tell me about their Frank Ocean experience at Coachella. This is a calming video because your voice and the way that you talk is so gentle. I am not a subscriber but I am definitely subscribing now to hear this lovely voice and lovely delivery discuss music and other topics. Hope you read this
How can Frank be so close to Tyler, The Creator and not have any of Tyler's showmanship and stage charisma rub off on him? He needs to beg Tyler for some lessons. He's always been a mid performer and sadly this outcome was somewhat expected. Coachella is not the place for subtlety and introspection. There needs to be a wow factor. Anything else will be a disappointment.
I have been thinking this all week. I really wanna know what Tyler thinks of all this tbh. I'm a huge Tyler fan and it's hard to believe him and Frank orbit the same circles etc.
During the Odd Future days, Tyler used to perform in crutches and a cast and sit down on a chair when he had broken arms and legs lol an ankle doesn't prevent the voice from working... he could've even made up for the fuck up of Weekend 1 if he gave it another go and did a better job... so much opportunity wasted
@@softestsoftmatter The point is he's always been a weak performer. I only mention Tyler because they're besties, but it's hard to name one Coachella performer that was worse. When Jai Paul, who's never performed live before, gives a better performance than you that's a problem. Willow Smith gave a stronger performance. Willow Smith!
Thats why I stan kpop: they show up and they come through, for three ppl or for a whole arena. I like efficency. Western artist feel like you gotta thank them for letting you buy a ticket to their concerts, its crazy.
All he had to do was be honest and give it his all. He keeps biting the hand that feeds him which makes it harder for his true fans to see him. Professional booking agents aren't gonna wanna book him, also his insurance for shows is gonna skyrocket which means higher ticket prices for fans. It's not right. I love his music but I can't respect him.
Hopefully someone got in his ear to keep it simple after this. A tribute to the dead can be very modest, but to each their own. He’s experimenting as artist should and has his own vision so i can understand.
Yeah, i had a viral video on tiktok about frank cancelling the livestream and when i made a vid about how disappointed i was about the show (im a local to coachella so i know the setup) i was like completely attacked by some people telling me to kms because i was ungrateful and stuff like rhat. So toxic
a well needed conversation, we just need to think for ourselves, call out the poor business' behavior but be understanding that the mans going through a lot
Love see this from a frank fan. A bunch of frank fans who didn’t attend the festival or even never attended Coachella are quick to say that artists don’t owe their fans anything. Keep it up this was a great unbiased video.
As I finish this video, I see the DJ A-Trak tweeting very ignorant things about this whole situation. I don’t have til tok but I imagine he’s repeating what’s being said on there. All that aside, great video. I don’t listen to Frank Ocean nor was familiar with his canceling reputation. You really put it in perspective. Great video.
Dead ass 😂 I love Frank ocean to death. I don’t know the man personally but I like how he’s carried himself as a person in the past and his music creativity is immaculate that being said. I will never camp at 5am to waste a whole day at a $600+ festival hoping to have a good time at his performance. 😅😂😂😂
i had work the next day and woke up at 5AM for this livestreamed show, and i was so angry that he cancelled p.s. this killed my sleep schedule for the week (:
Great video. This is the first time I’ve seen your channel and I really appreciate your take and how concise you make your point. While I’m not a fan of the hate some artist can get, I’m also not a fan of the crazy fans who defend them for everything they do. More people need to hear what you’re saying, and understand that these people lift up are just like them and shouldn’t get any special treatment. This is one of the things that pisses me off about people like Harry Styles fan bases; the fact that he’s so loved, that it feels like if he committed actual murder, people would defend him, is sickening. Great video though, take as long as you need on your break, and I hope everything goes well for you
It also was a clever way of him telling all those IG sheeple who only come to his concerts to grab content for their channel and only know him for some 30 sec TikTok snippet to stay the f*ck away. Good for him, not every artist thinks they need to cater to the mainstream's expectations.
I was there! I 100% agree. His voice was beautiful when it was but he was clearly not there with us. Never have I ever seen an entire festival leave SAD and stop the partying because of the HEADLINER. The people talking the most shit on us were not there. It was an odd and off putting experience.
@@yahard42 okay man lmao just because someone is your favorite artist, doesn't mean they're free of criticism but go off with ya novel I guess 😆
Thank you so much for sharing your thoughts and watching the video 🙌🏿
For the ‘Frank doesn’t owe you anything’ people, if he accepts a contract to do a performance, and you pay the price of admission, he does in fact owe you a decent standard of performance that starts on time. That is literally the bare minimum.
These fans need to have some self respect and move on. Frank doesn't care about his own fans that much is clear.
His fans must be very rich 😂 I couldn't fathom paying a thousand dollars for someone to play me like that
Agreed!
@@shadow_realm47you need more self respect if you’re paying $1000 for a festival ticket for one artist. On top of that the show wasn’t bad, and if you have more artists to support you wouldn’t care WAY too much about this one artist. Gain more hobbies.
Frank is an anti social person that craves attention at the same time. His fan base is way too accepting of the disrespect.
Im starting to agree
@@KingBigJules Who said you should hate him ? You can like an artist and still have an objective opinion about them. Holding someone accountable doesn't mean hating.
@@KingBigJules I don't think he's a bad person after this. It was just an asshole move that will stain his reputation. That being said, a lot of other artists have done way worse things.

Frank literally needs to be up front with everything. If he doesn’t have any motivation to make music or just do anything he needs to tell everyone. There isn’t a lot of excuses for the way he behaved or what he did.
No he doesn’t
He doesn’t owe anybody shit, the same way that you don’t owe anybody shit. At the end of the day he’s just a dude like the rest of us. Granted, my opinion doesn’t make yours wrong, but that’s just how I feel

@@cs7611 I paid for my Coachella tickets, I think I’m owed a decent performance. I literally would’ve been happy if he just showed up and sang without all the extra shit.

On god I’m glad I got to see both
For real imagine not ending Coachella with skrillex , I was grateful he didn’t come out and be a jerk lol
sounds like a waste of money
Pusha t was so good, I felt bad that he had technical difficulties and he was running late tho🙃
I bet the Fred set was unforgettable! Glad you had fun :D:D:D
what bothers me the most about the whole situation is that, even though some factors were out of his control, he still has yet to apologize about having to cut it short and the multiple issues throughout the show
From the info presented, most of the factors were within his control.

Truly.
This is exactly how I felt thank you so much for sharing
Skrillex and the gang did an insane job for being pulled onto the lineup a couple days prior

❤ i’ve been trying to wrap my head around what happened too and i feel seen after listening to you. thank you!

Man, the show was so raw idc. and as a casual fan of him, im very pleased. that’s the kind of set i dont mind waiting for, calvin harris on the other hand…
and i dont say that bc i actively listen to one and not the other. but rather bc i got a visual artistic experience in addition to the music i came to hear. i was hella far from the stage bc i almost blacked out, and i still felt immersed in his vision. it seemed like he and the team were really enjoying themselves and when it comes down to it, thats all i can ask of an artist.
im seeing a lot of people having gripes about waiting, about the setlist, etc. and its not that those arent valid, but if you’re familiar with frank you know hes not a traditional cookie cutter musician. the set was imbued with his other artistic endeavors and i thought that was a serious treat.
plus to play the same songs for us, rework them and show that musical longevity can be achieved through simple means…that was a flex if you ask me
but in regard to the criticisms, it kinda falls on deaf ears for me. i feel like a lot of fans project these weird, overdramatized standards and expectations on an artist who has literally never been one to do shit like that. like its no secret that he’s reclusive and doesn’t actively put out music on schedule like say the weeknd or tyler or whatever have you. so people acting like, shocked beyond comprehension is a little bit odd imo.
for me, i saw an artist whose music and art has moved me significantly over the last decade, and to finally experience him and his art and the people who aided him in bringing it to us live, it just doesnt get better than that.
This.

That’s just it. You’re a *casual* fan and you didn’t spend your money on going to see him, so of course you aren’t disappointed… 🤷♀️
Coachella sounds like the hunger games.
the way you executed this is amazing , you articulated your reasoning and examples wonderfully, new sub!
So grateful to be there 🙏🏼
So happy you had a great time 🙏🏿🙏🏿🙏🏿
Respect people by their actions. Part of growing up is learning the people you like aren’t good people and moving past them.
Hope you read this
Thank you so much 🙏🏿🙏🏿🙏🏿🙏🏿🙏🏿 really appreciated
My best friend flew from Brasil to Cali to see Frank and he cancelled, I felt so bad for her and all the fans
Omg I’m so sorry for her 😔
One tip, the wiggle effect really messes with legebility, just keep it static next time please.
I'm a huge Tyler fan and it's hard to believe him and Frank orbit the same circles etc.
they’re very different people lol
During the Odd Future days, Tyler used to perform in crutches and a cast and sit down on a chair when he had broken arms and legs lol an ankle doesn't prevent the voice from working... he could've even made up for the fuck up of Weekend 1 if he gave it another go and did a better job... so much opportunity wasted
Uhhh yeah this is exactly why y’all don’t deserve to see Frank live lol how can you compare Frank to Tyler? Lmaoo
I don't follow or listen to frank but i love the video and how eloquently this man spoke on a unfortunate situation for fans of frank.
Thank you 🫶🏿🫶🏿🫶🏿🫶🏿
Thats why I stan kpop: they show up and they come through, for three ppl or for a whole arena.
I mean one good thing came out of this situation
I found ur channel and now I get to binge watch 😅
Thank you so much 🙏🏿🙏🏿🙏🏿🙏🏿
Hopefully someone got in his ear to keep it simple after this. A tribute to the dead can be very modest, but to each their own. He’s experimenting as artist should and has his own vision so i can understand.
i just watched a 3min ad so u can get ad revenue and keep improving ur vids 💞💞
I’m so sorry this happened to you. Y’all were robbed 💔
Thank you 🙏🏿🙏🏿🙏🏿
Yeah, i had a viral video on tiktok about frank cancelling the livestream and when i made a vid about how disappointed i was about the show (im a local to coachella so i know the setup) i was like completely attacked by some people telling me to kms because i was ungrateful and stuff like rhat. So toxic
I am so sorry to hear that It has been so toxic fam
Many of us agree with you 🤞🏿
@@KILLIVVN 🫶🫶🤞
the gaslighting by some people is crazyyyyyy
@@myra-yves honestly
a well needed conversation, we just need to think for ourselves, call out the poor business' behavior but be understanding that the mans going through a lot
Totally agree
i hope frank gets through it and same with you homie :)
@@TrillForTheWorld thanks !
Love see this from a frank fan. A bunch of frank fans who didn’t attend the festival or even never attended Coachella are quick to say that artists don’t owe their fans anything. Keep it up this was a great unbiased video.
Thank you so much !!!
Quality Production on the video, well done 👏
Thanks !!!
Y'all waiting for Frank Ocean like he as great as Jesus or something. Seek God.
Dead ass 😂 I love Frank ocean to death. I don’t know the man personally but I like how he’s carried himself as a person in the past and his music creativity is immaculate that being said. I will never camp at 5am to waste a whole day at a $600+ festival hoping to have a good time at his performance. 😅😂😂😂
I literally thought of this too oof
i had work the next day and woke up at 5AM for this livestreamed show, and i was so angry that he cancelled
p.s. this killed my sleep schedule for the week (:
😔
This video reminds me of an episode of swarm. Who's going into debt for an artist?!
Thanks for explaining in detail.
Take care.
Thanks for sharing your story with us. Wishing you Godspeed ❤️
Thank you so much 🙌🏿
Great set loved the new versions don’t give a fuck what nobody say. My life is dope. Frank is dope.
Im gonna miss you and the content, but I understand. Take care bro ❤
one of your best videos so far man, sad topic it's on, but im very impressed with this production. cant wait to see what u cook up next.
THANK YOU SO MUCH
This is one of the best videos on this topic. Thank you 🙏
i love what you said about growing up looking up to artists. i was in the exact situation as you. i relate a lot. that's why this stuff sucks.
Thank you 😞
"hes not overrated"
> describes reason why he could be considered overraed
Good for him, not every artist thinks they need to cater to the mainstream's expectations.
i hope at some point you do a jai paul vid, love love love your content man
Most surprising thing to me about all this is that the main stage wall graphic is only designed at 4680 x 2080.
😂😂😂😂😂
Frank Ocean… more like Ocean Puddle! He let so many people down!
getting paid 4 mill to perform remixes is robbery to the audience
It was 8 million reportedly
@@KILLIVVN yeah 4 mill each weekend, since he dropped out the other 4 going to Fred again and skrillex 💀
@@kabeloforever Ayoooo
I was there! I 100% agree. His voice was beautiful when it was but he was clearly not there with us. Never have I ever seen an entire festival leave SAD and stop the partying because of the HEADLINER. The people talking the most shit on us were not there. It was an odd and off putting experience.
It was 100% so deflating like experience
also many of us taking a break from frank ocean here in uk he really has let everyone down and this was happening a lot before his loss.
My guy! Great vid
w style good job keep it up bro!!
it all went bad for me after the cockring
For me it was recently with the Rosalia leak. Like nigga you couldn’t just release that? Bro is weird.
