@14:45 basically if you pitch it down with the speed mode, you're halving all the frequency range in a sense. If you play lower you will have a full frequency spectrum, but by halving the speed if you have a sound from 50hZ to 20k, you end up with a sound that has a range of 25hZ to 10k, so it sounds kinda lofi

Thx, now that you explain it it sounds kinda obvious :D

Interesting, so shouldnt you get the same effect from just a very mild lowpass filter set to e.g. that 10 KHz? Which does make sense it sounds mellower if you are just cutting off high freq

I love sound design so much. This video completely took my attention till the end. Not familiar at this point with tutor creations as a musician, but I totally want to check out now. Inspiring

Thank you for this insightful video. I really like you going over these functions which make all the difference. I like keeeeeerdi's idea about Freq Spectrum and why it makes it sound more lofi. I also think harmonic frequencies have a role to play. When you play the higher pitch the harmonic frequencies are less audible by the mic because they have to be so much louder or like with guitar distorted just to pick them up. So when you play a lower octave, you're getting all the harmonics and extra resonance which is missing with the higher tighter frequency range. I love this idea btw and will be stealing it for my music in the future!!

I've had 11 on pre-order since announced. I am very excited about Abe's new comping utility, as it relates to design like this. Appreciate the dive into the functionality of spectral resonator. Stoked to try it. I THINK I hear a lot of it (and Wavetable synth) on Monolake's incredible new release. Nice record wall behind you btw, big fan of justxabout everything hanging there 🤙

Great video! Will defo be trying some of these techniques! Loving the vinyl texture sounds. Felix mentioned about a sample pack, is this a public sample pack or did he mention his own sample library? Does anyone know

@14:45 You're halving the resonant frequencies of the whole instrument, which are normally more or less static, regardless of which notes you're playing.

Welchen Unterschied macht es wenn ich das Utility anstatt auf nur links stelle, gleich auf Mono stelle?! Box the way. Deine Tipps sind mega!

you mentioned a sound pack in the video can you link it here?

  • @neaumusic

if you record it at a higher frequency and slow it down then you lose bits / introduce noise from the averaging of previous nodes
