Ermal and Fabrizio said that this song was inspired by the letter written by Antoine Leiris, who lost his wife in the Paris terrorist attack of 13 November 2015. Despite the pain for the loss of the loved one Antoine did not want it was the hatred to win over love, for this reason he wrote a letter to the terrorists saying “you did nothing to me“. This is an extract: “Friday night you stole the life of an exceptional creature, the love of my life, the mother of my child, but you will not have my hatred... There are two of us, my son and I, but we are stronger than all the armies in the world.”
They ranked 5th at 2019 Eurovision even though they sang on Italian and this song was so different from what people were used to. They ranked even 3rd for televoting.
5:03 the translation is wrong. Chi fa le croci means who makes the sign of the cross(Christian gesture). It is the counterpart of praying on rugs(Muslim)
It touches me pretty closely too since in Spain we had this terrorist group called ETA. Their cause was pretty valid in my opinion, but killed a ton of innocent people, which is never okay. They only stopped a few years ago.
This song is about some terrorist attacks for example at Bataclan in Paris, the title was inspired by a sentence written in a letter of a husband, Antoine Leiris, who lost his wife after the terrorist attack in 13th of Novembre 2015 in Paris. Antoine remainded only with his child. Fabrizio Moro and Ermal Meta were impressed by this french husband. Also they wanted to anwer to the fear of their fans after the terrorist attack at the Ariana Grande's concert.
Okay, first of all, THANK YOU! So glad you are reacting to this! I think this song should have won back in 2018 because to me, it was the best. But there were a lot of good songs that year in Eurovision. I like the power in it and the passion I feel from it. Have you been able to see their performance? Glad you liked this more than my other request!
to you who are always professional and attentive to new and dated Italian musical productions, I recommend Diodato great sublime poet and moral winner of the latest Eurovision
I NEVER CLICKED SO FAST ON A VIDEO LOL *watches* Edit: I love this song, 2018. So powerful... Just to have a quick reference: th-cam.com/video/uOhBQbdz6A4/w-d-xo.html Combo of their performances during Sanremo, which they won. th-cam.com/video/81M-mp5t8uM/w-d-xo.html and this is their performance in Eurovision. Keep going Ang, i love your comments on the lyrics, so nice to hear your take on things and the images that you see through words!
Poi parla della guerra madri senza figli perché andati lontano in guerra e figli senza padri sempre perché partiti in guerra.
Very beautiful antiwar text, unfortunately always-present problem...😢 I suggest you listen to another precious song, "Piccola anima" (it means "little soul") by Ermal Meta and Elisa. 😉😘🤗❣

This song is about terrorism, there are references to England and France that in those years were heavily affected.
It touches me pretty closely too since in Spain we had this terrorist group called ETA. Their cause was pretty valid in my opinion, but killed a ton of innocent people, which is never okay. They only stopped a few years ago.
Contro ogni forma di odio ☮️❤️
Canzone stupenda e allo stesso tempo tristemente attuale 😔

nonostante la durezzae la crudezza del testo..E' una ballata di speranza.. ed è per questo che avrebbe dovuto vincere alla competizione Europea..
Very very great song, the voices very particular
Just the right song for this time. By the way, I like when you say NIENTE. 💋

🥰
in fondo la musica è una lingua universale, giusto?
anche quando un testo fa tornare alla realtà di eventi orrendi che accadono ancora oggi da sempre.. invece di far evadere...
👌👍👍
"Niente" means "nothing"
I know
😔 I am sorry to understand little little without TH-cam subtitles 😥
L unica canzone carina che ho ascoltato di f. Moro
