    Minor point. Aquino, the town in which Thomas Aquinas was born (Aquinas means from Aquino) was at the time a town in the Kingdom of Sicily. But this kingdom at the time ruled on large parts of continental southern Italy, as well as Sicily. Aquino itself is not in Sicily, but in the region around Rome, known as Latium (from which the word Latin originates). Hence Thomas Aquinas was not Sicilian, but Laziale (from Latium).

    The topic of multiple but differing Truths became an issue in 19th Century Mathematics with the discovery of non-Euclidean Geometry, culminating with Einstein's Relativity in the 20th Century. Basically, Euclid had Five Postulates, i.e. working assumptions that seemed self-evident. It was found by Bolyai, Riemann, and Gauss that changing the Postulates led to new, very differing but entirely consistent, Geometric Systems. Clearly, Plato and Aristotle differ over their Postulates. It is no accident that Kant abandoned his Mathematical studies as he studied the Postulates to become a Philosopher, and that the Five Postulates are prominently stated in the early chapters of his Critique of Pure Reason.

    One thing Aquinas missed in this statement, "...it is better to obey the father of spirits in order that we may live, then the parents of our flesh." --- Eph. 6:1-3: 1."Children, obey your parents in the Lord, for this is right. 2. “Honor your father and mother,” which is the first commandment with promise: 3. “that it may be well with you and you may live long on the earth.” Serving your parents is serving God, if you "abandon" serving your parents to "serve God", you are actually disobeying God's commandments. In my opinion it would be an act of pride and selfishness, therefore sinful and unfruitful. However, I was not there and do not know all the facts and am not his judge for his actions on this matter, nor would I want to be. However, it is my belief that folks that are "smarter than others", sometimes think their words and "enlightened" thoughts can fool us and God with their deftness. :)

      We must all be led individually by THE 🕊HOLY SPIRIT 🔥
      Jesus Himself was called by His own Mother and brothers but Jesus said that those following Him were His Mother and brothers! Matthew 12 v 46….

    • @rrand5630
      @rrand5630 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@P.H.888 Being led by the Holy Spirit is to obey God's commands, the Holy Spirit was given because of the obedience of Jesus Christ to the Father. The Holy Spirit works through the finished work of Christ at the cross, this was the ultimate surrender to the Fathers will. There is no evidence Jesus ever disobeyed his Heavenly Father and earthly mother, or even his earthly step father for that matter. You need to look include v50 in your response. 'For whosoever shall do the will of my Father...' The Holy Spirit would never lead you to disobey your father or your mother.

    The idea that "all generalizations are false" is a itself is a "generalization" that destroys its own truth claim; see at time 0:30.
