I never actually looked that Jeremy Siegel's famous chart with a perspective that bonds/bills did nothing and only lost your purchasing power between 1920's - 1980's, after which interest rates lowered they returned something during "Pax Americana". Thanks for this and all the other work you do.

Buying real estate is risky I agree what about people that bought real estate last year and were able to lock in a fixed mortgage for 10 years with a very low interest rate? Do you still hold the opinion that this is a good choice over the next decade or should one try to still sell it before a potential crash?
My intuition is to keep the low fixed interest rate even though prices for the home will most likely come down.

Sven, alternatives to put options as hedge are bear ETFs (x1, avoid the high decay x3) such as SPDN and PSQ. You can also short futures, such as ES and NQ, or their micro versions, MES, MNQ.

Hi Sven, I really appreciate your videos - this is by far my favorite youtube channel. Thank you so much for the great work. This time I don't fully agree with your analysis : there is an argument to be made for long-term bonds to be the best performing asset class either in 2023 or 2024. Historically central banks react to recessions with relatively rapid interest rates cuts...long bond tend to be perform really well in this environment. Considering the relatively high probability of a recession in the coming 2 years long bonds appear to be a potentially interesting asymmetric bet

I consider that these types of videos give value to me. let me explain, I learn new things when you upload videos like copper investment summary, the summary of buyback. how to calculate the intrinsic value with your excel file, CCPE stock analysis (the reason it was not a good investment), convertible notes, merger arbitrage, inelastic market hypothesis etc.
I know that those types of videos are not supported but I consider they have helped me to understand what really investing is "Be interested in business and take advantage of the volatility of the stock". thanks

Thank you for an informative video as always. I am curious about your take on bringing down debt by buying back low interest bonds from your creditors. On one hand the bonds are cheap, on the other hand the interest is below inflation.
I was wondering if this kind of thing has enough value for your audience for you to take up in a video.

Hey Sven, you mention investing in ETF's your are buying they biggest companies at high prices, what would you say to someone who has few options when investing into a 401K or other tax advantage accounts. Its nice to have the tax benefits but as you point out there are flaws when it comes to having to invest into limited number of funds. Thank you and happy new year.

The problem with "cheap" is that they might be cheap for a very good reason and being at "a big discount" now might mean being out of business in the future.
Your opinion of "total market" and "thematic" index funds is quite clear, but how do you feel about factor EFTs like value, quality or high dividend ETFs for investors who don't trust themselves to pick individual stocks?

I think gold and silver will perform very well in 2023 and as a result, so will the mining stocks.

physical gold is a hedge against inflation, war, disaster. paper gold is a financial tool. people need to realize there is a stark difference between the two.
I have lived through hyperinflation twice, war once, both of those don't help you much either in those situations, soon gone...

Hi Sven, is it maybe an idea to make a video about howmany stocks you should/ could own in proportion to the time you have to dedicate to researching the stocks you own on a day to day or even week to week basis?
I always have this problem with wanting to buy too many stocks but this way I don't think I have enough time to keep up with all the news and financials of the businesses.
diversification is on my to do list!

There are some ETFs where SNP500 or Nasdaq stocks are equally weighted, or with some smart Schiller formula. I’m planning to go with SPGP instead of SPY.

Good video, but you can’t make a blanket statement that bonds do nothing as VGLT absolutely helps your portfolio with diversification and you get your principal back if you hold to duration (17 years on average)
Dear Sven, great video as usual and great to hear about real estate! Could you sometime talk about what happens to mortgages when inflation is higher than interest rates? is people with large mortgages becoming winners when inflation eat up their loans? I hope you understand what i'm getting at.
my parents paid off a 25 years morgage in 1990 for a house for 135 Swiss Francs due to inflation, so yes, that is the point of getting a fixed long-term mortage at a low rate!
