I didn’t quite get why telomeres get shorter as we age? Pls explain😓
They get shorter every time your cell divides.
@@MedicosisPerfectionalis but they don’t take part in DNA replication right? what exactly is making them shorter
During removal of primer from the 5' end of newly synthesised strand it get shorter than the newly synthesized 3'end
So on each replication the 5' end get shorten which can even leads to loss of the main genetic material from chromosome but it not occur because after a no of divisions cell donot undergo replication and die by apoptosis..
