EXTENDING THE KICKSTAND/Sidestand; The ADV Bike HOCKEY PUCK MOD for BMW G650GS Sertao / F650GS Dakar

- Nik from Pegasus Motorcycle Tours & Consulting shows you how to modify your stock kick stand with minimal investment of time and money, extending the length of the sidestand and increasing the contact surface area for a more stable parked bike. This is a common problem with the BMW G650GS Sertao, and the F650GS Dakar which have short kickstands making the bikes lean too much and potentially fall over. This modification is known as the Hockey Puck mod, since a hockey puck is bolted on the bottom of the kickstand.

You really need 3 puck thickness . 1 still makes it lean way to far . 1 puck is only 1 inch . I keep my bike rested on a brick that is 2.5 inches and its stilling leaning to far . I would go with something thats is at least 3 inches . This puts the angle of your bike at the average motorcycle angle .
That would be better, however there isn't enough clearance with the rear wheel when the kickstand is up.
Cheers for the vid. Humour is so often void in dry and boring youtube vids. Beware the curse of the camel toe!! :) Will be adding this to my Sertao momentarily.

Thank you for being here - I am afraid i don't understand this expression "Itchy boots in her second season". We actually changed the intro music since last year and purchased this "epic" soundtrack - I regret you don't like it and can understand the feeling - I am also equally annoyed by the typical rock heavy metal electric guitar intros so prevalent in so many motorcycle related videos. The good thing is that all our videos will have the same intro music so at least you know what to expect and can forward ahahaha. Thanks for being here and for participating in the conversation. I cant beleive the lean even with the puck. BMW needs to be better engineers when figuring out bike lean degrees.
It's true. It's a mild fix to accommodate for the flex at least and a longer puck isn't possible because it would contact the rear tire. It's poorly designed. They should not have let this out of the factory.

This is a standard ice hockey puck - you can pick up at any sport store like Dicks or Big 5.

Nice idea. The button hexagonal head would look more esthetic, the whole tightening job is done by the nut. The hole diameter in the rubber may be also a little smaller than in the metal stand. Thank you for the concept.

Finally had the time to install it. Had to angle the pucks surface to make it fit the angle of the sidestand, but now it's fine. Thanks again.
