Real Muay Thai in MMA

Muay Thai has been used by all champions in MMA to a great effect, yet we have not seen Thai Muay Thai champions cross over. This is because Thais are generally not aware of MMA and don't have any real infrastructure to support it yet. That is about to change.
There was Rambaa Somdet in the previous era, but now there's Dejdamrong, a decorated 3x champion of the prestigious Lumpinee Stadium. As the first to cross over to the mainstream, Dejdamrong captured the One Championship title and is now set to headline the first major MMA event in Thailand, facing the undefeated Shooto champion from Japan.
On May 27th, this historic event will take place in Bangkok, creating a major catalyst for Thai Muay Thai in MMA. Lets tune in and support the sport and arts we love.

Actually what people are misunderstanding is that ufc isn't the best fight.
ufc fighter = best fighter??? It's not equal. For muay thai fighters, there is no reason for them to go into ufc.
in ufc it is impotant to learn ground skills such as wrestling, jiujitsu. that's why muay thai fighters are not proper to be in ufc.
muay thai itself is good for standing fight

Fighting someone with that level of skill and stamina isn't just physical; it's such a psychological battle. Refusing to be demoralized as they continue to just hit you that hard over and over again, and seeing that they are not tiring, and still keeping your heart in it, and figuring out how to prevail.

Yes all Thai Fighters are incredible tough and skillful, still I believe the main reason for their success is their superior endurance. Bawkaw is a clear exponent of this, as his opponents slows down as the fight progresses he ramps up their attacks as if he were immune to tiredness. Although few thai fighters are as powerful and dominating as he is, they tend to impose themselves more clearly as the fight progresses which in my opinion it's a consequence of greater stamina due to life-long conditioning.

When I practised Muay Thai in the early 90's I entered kick boxing tournaments and got disqualified for forgetting myself and leg kicking. I love the simplicity of Muay Thai. Round kicks, front kicks, punches, knees, elbows and clinch. No need to be flexible, but it helps. the fact that you can do it in confined spaces makes it the most effective striking art.

When you face a harsh life, everything else is a cakewalk. Alot of fighters come from nothing. Nobody wants to train to fight. Its not easy and its not fun. Its also not rewarding bc at the end of the day, there are only a few champions out of thousands of fighters. Some people fight for glory, but the real fighters know they have no other way, so they put everything on the line in the ring. Thats the story of Muay Thai from a Thai person here.

Adrenalin and hormones will delay the pain reception, but once your brain realises how fucked the body is it cripples you. This guy is amazing, to throw elbows as effortlessly as punches and knees like kicks takes serious skill, i allways loved muay thia and someone like the great tony jaa shows off its beauty on screen but to see a guy like dejdamrong doing it in the cage is awesome, this is why jon jones is so great, you combine muay thai with ju jitsu and wrestling and master them all then you are one bad mother, it is great to see the real deal here though in dejdamrong, i mean these guys kick down fricking trees for practice, if you kick a tree like that your leg would snap before the tree would, they toughen their bones with panfull training from a early age, real muay thai is possibly the most destructive form of combat out there

I have done something similar to my hands, as a child and young teenager I was very angry and would often hit things that were far harder than my hands, over the years my hands have become extremely strong and dense aswell as my forearm bones and elbows, I slightly caved in knuckle on my right hand and broke the two index fingers on each hand at one point, but now i am 18 and my hands are very tough, I often train on the heavy bag without gloves, although I have better power generation with them, im confident that I could put my fist straight through a common house hold room door if I really wanted to. I am also now very interested in muay thai because I didnt do kicks that much and want to strengthen my shins and get a greater kicking ability because I am lacking, I am however good at knees and elbows, or so id like to think. While im not a fan of jon jones as a person i admire his mixed fighting style of wrestling and jiu jitsu and wish to take both some day aswell. Truly these men are indeed legends though, to have such resilience in their legs and speed and accuracy with the elbows is amazing!

@Karvakulmio doesn't work like that pal. once you add grappling to muay thai, th whole stand up game changes and it is no longer the same striking game as you see in pure muay thai. its not just one thing simply added to the other. one changes the other. these changes will be super significant at the top levels.

Original Muay Thai in 16th century is a martial art for killing and warfare. Today was a sport, but it was still too dangerous if you have to use some skills.
Some tournaments do not use elbows and knees, we call it half rule muay thai
