4 of my friends were on the Del. River and hit a piece of a pilon ... the fiberglass exploded on impact there was nothing left but 3 to 4 ft. piece ,,,none of them survived ... this boat,, to hit a rock and only has that much damage is not only a blessing but this boat is a total game changer in boating , accidents and damage bills
Wow these boat's are REAL MONSTERS!!!! Imagine hitting a rock/reef in a fiberglass boat compared to this MONSTER. Alfred would be doing another motor recovery.
Or aluminum. That impact would have probably totaled a fiberglass or aluminum boat. Break this one....they're melted down and used to make other HDPE products.
I have a 2002 Triumph 170SC which has seen much abuse while fishing a local lake...Rock Lake?! Great timing Alfred, I was just about to search the web to learn the technique of repair...some pretty deep gouges. THANK YOU! I was trying to help a local dealer promote the Triumph brand, running up on the rocky beach at the launch, throwing rocks at it, etc. Aluminum addiction in this area. Glass and aluminum boat owners baby their boats at the launch...I didn't. Most were impressed...many thinking me (justifiably?)an idiot. I LOVE the boat, and have never met an unhappy Triumph owner. I talked to an owner of a 21' CC, with twin 150 Yamaha. It is his tender for a 50+' Ocean Alexander, replaced a Grady. He said the ride was quieter, and smoother with the Triumph...and he got one of the outboards "free" when comparing the purchase prices. Obviously, any hull repairs would be incomparable in cost/loss of use. In 12"-18" chop my 17' rides smoother and quieter than my nephew's 23' jet boat. The entire hull flexes...is a foam-filled "shock absorber." It's a travesty they've stopped building them. I wish I was wealthy enough to buy the molds and equipment from who Genmar sold Triumph to in 2011. Building a 23' jetsled, taking it to rivers to abuse...steal a bit of the aluminum market. I like both aluminum and poly...both recyclable to please the climate change zealots, even though they seek to ultimately eliminate recreational boating...then commercial. That's a different rant...
I agree standard Hdpe, 95 % made in China, he says, special plastic, if he is watching tell us, what makes this better?, I like the boat, may buy a HDPE. Like the idea

Gentlemen, This is a very smart plastic composite that provide long term reliability with almost no maintenance if used properly. The first thing gets to my mind is that they use tires rubber in such composite. I assume that the reason the Brazilian Co. assemble it in the US is to attain a US certificate of origin to entitle the Brazilian Co. to enter and bid in a US governmental tenders (contracts) to supply numbers of these boats to coast guard for example, where in such tenders they stipulates that the priority goes for US made commodity. The welding machine have the same concept of a small silicone welding gun Lool. My advise for rough damaged area is to use a grinding machine rather than the razor or multi purpose tool so as to smooth it much like an auto body repair. I wonder how much the thickness of the body which I assume not less than 4 cm. Another idea comes to my mind is that if there is a penetrating crack or shot gun hole is to develop a sort of a bicycle tube batch like (Tip Top) to be welded from the inside while the outside in such case can be filled with the heat gun. Take Care and Enjoy your time. John Jack Kaplanian from Jordan / Middle East.
Alfred, if you ever mentioned that those boats were plastic I must have missed it. I always thought they were aluminum. I like them even more now. There is a company in the Netherlands called Tideman Boats. They also manufacture boats from HDPE. I contacted them a few days ago and they said they will be here in the US shortly. I like the idea of using HDPE because it is lighter than water. Meaning it won't sink.
Solid HDPE isn't foam; it's only slightly less dense than water. If the boat has an engine, batteries, and electronics, then the boat is going to be more dense than water and will sink when flooded.
@@TheVonMatrices Triumph boats are like Boston Whalers, so hull cavities are filled with floatation foam. I do believe boats 21' and under are required to have full foam flotation. Also, EHTB is lighter than water. If the boat is broken into pieces, and the piece with the engines is large enough it won't sink.
@@SwitchRod I'm not sure if EHTB is a misspelling of HDPE or if it's a different material, but I couldn't find any information about it online. If you want an unsinkable boat, the hull material barely matters. The density of HDPE is about 96% that of water, so you aren't getting very much flotation from just being HDPE. A HDPE boat that weighs 5000 pounds would only get 200 pounds of buoyancy from the plastic. Put a single outboard on that boat and that buoyancy is completely cancelled out as soon as the boat fills with water. Boats that are unsinkable are unsinkable because of foam filling, and foam can be put in any boat regardless of hull material.
@@TheVonMatrices Engineered Hybrid Thermoplastic is material used in dgs boats. What's the purpose/advantage of rigid inflatable boats? Triumph boats are not rigid inflatables, but are full of closed cell foam. Triumph use(d) High Density Polypropylene (HDPP) in its manufacturing.
Hey,if you need someone to run one around the Alabama/Florida coastline for some living advertisement,, the quickest way to get marine police, and wildlife enforcement interested is to have a civilian running one of these around the island..I imagine it would turn some well to do heads as well.. they should name this place keeping up with the Joneses Island..lol.. great design... love it... Amazing!!!
I sent them a note the other day, they should look at the jet drive river boats for the shallows. I believe that's the material they overlay over aluminum jet boats for the rivers. Would be a great product in AK!
Alfred, great video except obviously you NEVER checked His audio couldn't hear him couldn't understand him, your audio was good just letting you know for next time great stuff thanks for posting
It would be kind of cool if you could interview the owner of the boat to hear what happened. What's the bet the story is awesome and I'm sure the owner would love to tell us what happened 😉😉😉
Not one as durable (also unsinkable), and runs smoother and quieter. My Triumph could be broken in pieces...all would float, even the one with the engine, if flotation of that piece exceeded the weight of engine.
The boat builder did not take something into account. It cannot be Christened. You slam your champagne bottle into that hull, and it will bounce right back knocking you the fuck out. What to do, what to do??

I can't even watch the whole video, because of your redundancy. You can eat it. It's just plastic. Yeah, that's going to be a future lawsuit.

I use to plastic weld for a living. Its such rare trade. I didn't know that they use it to make boats! Too cool.

Industrial 3D pen with a giant spool of filament. Pretty cool.
It would be interesting to see the performance improvement with a step hull.

That's very beautiful
They need to make a catamaran from that plastic! Talk about market disruption
What kind of “chit chow” is this? 😂 This is exactly the boat people you film crashing into docks, launches, trailers and other boats need!!?
I love this DGS guy
Wow. Thanks for sharing this. Our Navy needs 1,000 of these. US Tow where are you on this ?
Love the fact you can fix the boat with a glue gun lol
Bro I have that small welding gun for welding vinyl floors in hospitals. You can go buy it at v&p carpet supplies here in miami.
Work has been killer, I been missin your funny!
The boat is dope asf, but all black, you wil literally cook in the summer
made for fishing for square grouper at night I guess....
I know where they sell paint
absolutely an awesome concept, and video bro!
Same principle as HDPE pipe fusion.
That is one badass boatl
No more osmotic blisters? No soft spots, transom replacements, stringer/ coring issues, Gel coating.
Without military contracts I would think the market for these boats would be very narrow. Maybe white ones for recreational boat users?
Google the sadly out of business Triumph boats.
That was cool Alfred. Is it Fred tested? 👍👍🐊
Like using melted PTEX on the bottom of skis to repair gouges.
That looks easy to repair for sure!
Alford when riding on this boat does it get hot to the touch from the sun? Just thinking of traditional black boats and how they handle the sun.
Not the day i was on it
@@AlfredMontaner thank you sir. Love the videos you are doing a great job!
same machine they use to weld non slip flooring together but larger

Buy a second wireless microphone so we actually understand what the other guy is saying,
Btw love your videos man, greetings from thailand
plastic boat like this are amazing for any hard use . i work on a bota like this and not as good like this u can repair this boats very eazy.
Wow one can even use his wife’s shaver to fix it. Excellent products 😅
Very nice , i am just just guessing, but this seems to be some kind of composite Thermoplastic
It's most likely a modified HDPE. If you don't know what HDPE is, its the plastic milk jugs are made of.
One question, how do you polish off the sanding scratches/scuffs?
Heat gun
@@AlfredMontaner the result is nothing short of miraculous, as you illustrated in previous videos.
Thanks!
100% RECYCLABLE 👏✌️👍
How heavy is it vs fibreglass ?
Yes 3 time more heavy a 100% but is really strong. The only problem is are terrible spencive, the smaller one begin at 180 000 dollar.
26:00 Pre-Heating - 2.5 minutes, give or take.
WOW! There probably won’t be many of these around at that price. I know boats are expensive rite now but stripped down 100K for a 22 ? 😳
“Tactical” in the appearance, name, description adds 50k in value

Looks to have that stabi craft feel
My customers hate when i point a gun at them, when they show up at the shop
exactly why pretty much everoyone up here in alaska uses Aluminum Hull boats
Why don't you make sailboats from the same material
Reminds me of triumph boats (roplene)
Nice boat but I stick to fiberglass.
I like it!
That's the Rambo!
i dont know if id trust that repair... doesnt look like it penetrates the boat plastic, with that i think ill stick to my fiberglass boats
The 30 second vid start at 31:00 so
I have been doing that for 20 years on fire tanks in firetrucks
Ingenious idea . I think you can fix it with a heat gun and a putty knife myself .
That boat looks awesome too bad it's prop propelled instead of jet propelled that would be the ultimate if it had a jet prop
Good tech but not for the everyday mortal. I can get a nice bigger than 22f boat for for a 100k
Not one as durable (also unsinkable), and runs smoother and quieter.
My Triumph could be broken in pieces...all would float, even the one with the engine, if flotation of that piece exceeded the weight of engine.
