    All my life I have pursued altitude. As a young boy I hiked to the summits of every mountain I saw, and as I grew, I learned to rock climb and those summits got even higher. I now fly quad copters and although they're not planes, my soul has been the most satisfied as of late. Now the internet brought me this gem of a documentary, and showed me a lifestyle I never knew existed. I am yearning to become a pilot now. To call this movie inspiring is an understatement, but I lack the words to express how inspired I really am. Thank you!

    I‘m only 16 (gonna be 17 in a few months) and I’m growing more and more into an aviation enthusiast. And that’s thanks to people like you, who show their experience and their adventures online. I really want my sailplane license so I’m going to start with that in about a month when I’m done with my drivers license. Planes are just so cool man. Thank you for this masterpiece ❤

      @@Iugeer i'm learning to fly sailplanes at the moment, theres a 15 year old kid in our club, hes got a grant to learn to fly, but sailplanes are fairly cheap, a powered flight is about $200 an hour while sailplanes are around $30 (australian dollars) so a kid working after school should be able to afford the weekend's flights fairly easily.
      Gliders are a group sport too, winch driver, wing runner, person who manages the day. so out of a whole day of flying, you might only get a couple of turns while everyone else flies too

      You may be surprised to hear that this comment made my day! Publishing a 2 hour video is a scary thing. For a start it took more time to edit this than it did to build my airplane, so the time commitment is huge. But also I felt that the story needed to be told in an uninterrupted format and I had no idea how it would be received as TH-cam is usually a 10 minute platform. So thank you for acknowledging it. I also have created all my own still images and videos for my life as a farm and ranch broker in Central Oregon. What you have done with simple gear (I’m imagining Insta 360, GoPro, iPhone etc) is nothing short of amazing. When I started in the ranch sale business I had to hire a helicopter, have the door removed, then do my best to hold my Nikon D90 still while we flew over the expanse below. The DJI drones I use now are so much better and more efficient. Great job! I am completely impressed and enjoyed watching immensely. Jim in Oregon

    Great video. Nerve wracking in places as you faced into challenging storms and Mike utilising all of his mechanical expertise and experience gliding 10 hours to Barbados from Cape Verde. Flying on to Nasssu absolutely breathtaning scenes. Flights of the angels.

    This is probably one of the best videos on TH-cam I watched in a long time. Couldn’t stop. Amazing work putting it together. Nice choice for the paint job. It´s such a beautiful aircraft and hey: what an achievement!
    All the best and many happy landings.

    This might be a stupid question. But why do they still use knots, to gauge speed in the air and on the water and stay safe out there?

    • @Speedbird_Concorde
      @Speedbird_Concorde 19 วันที่ผ่านมา +4

      Knots provide a more standardised method of navigation. 1 knot is 1 nautical mile traveled per hour.
      1 nautical mile also equates to one minute of latitude.

    So very awesome to see another video from you JP and happy all is alright! Such an epic adventure and spectacular cinematography! You and the others' determination to complete this amazing journey yet so challenging is really impressive and inspiring. Live life in the moment and to the fullest and this right here is what it is all about because very few people do it at this level and flying, especially in general aviation is so different, special and rewarding. Congratulations on completing this flight and safe skies ahead! Looking forward to the next trips and thank you for sharing these experiences!
