#polaris #xpedition #jeep - ยานยนต์และพาหนะ
In the state of NM, if you add turn signals this Polaris would be street legal. Then the question would be why? Jeep hands down beats this thing for all around use any day.
Hell it beats it off-road too except in situations where size and weight is the limiting factor. There’s no replacement for large tires.
Street legal, but not highway legal. Thats the biggest con of any SxS compared to something highway legal.
Wa St too
@@PatrickRich Great point
Never on highways in any state. Polaris are junk.
I'm so glad Polaris brought back the 92 Ford Explorer 😂
From the back it looks just like like it, i cant unsee it now
The transmission on that Polaris sounds like a Nissan CVT with 300,000 miles on it.
Probable some Chinese made POS.
I don't understand these things they sound like broken snowblowers and look like my kids power wheels for the price of a Tacoma
When shifting the JK into low range, never put a bunch of strength on the shifter. It will break the bushings on the linkage. Shift into neutral, let it slightly roll, and then move the shifter. If done right, it will just slide into or out of low range.
agree, the guy had no idea what he was doing and it showed
Something they never seem to note is that the manual for the Jeep states that if trying to shift into 4L at a stand still difficulty can occur. It actually states to be rolling just a little, shift transmission to N and then shit to 4L. If they would do the process correctly then he would have much less issues.
@@markmonroe7330 This isn't a "jeep thing". Its every t-case with low range and an automatic transmission thing. The vehicles with an electronic shifter will sit there trying over and over until it gets into gear. Rolling at 1-2mph in neutral makes it very easy to shift. And for manuals, you just put the clutch in and shift, very simple.
In my F150 and my previous RAM 1500, I can select 4low from a dead stop and it shifts on the first try every time. Most modern 4x4’s have a clutch in the transfer case now to allow both 4auto and 4low without moving.
I came to say this. Slow roll in neutral and you are golden.
Reviewing cars doesn't make you a car guy. Andre learned to drive 2WD tractors in Mother Russia.
4L shifting is pretty much a universal process, neutral, let it roll, let the gearbox find the notch not under power
Tfl should invest in offroad driving class for your guys. It's obvious that they don't know how and when to use lockers and low range. For a channel that does a lot of offroad reviews, it would be nice to see someone who actually knows how to drive offroad doing the reviews.
yeah for sure i dont watch hardly of there offroad stuff, especially involving UTVs because they just have no idea what there doing or talking about. its painful for an experienced off roader its like watching a teen in his first machine
you can say that again, damn poor off road drivers
Absolute facts.
You’ll burn a belt up doing those slow obscenities in high range!
ssshhhh... don't interrupt experts at work
I said before…under 20mph always use low.
My obstacle name suggestions:
- Breakover Bluff
- Peak Performance
- Tumbleweed Ridge
Tummy duster
Possible obstacle names: "Roman's Rump", "Mt. David", "Mt. TFL", and "Pile-O-Dirt".
One you can drive to the trail, the other you have to trailer. I’m definitely NOT anti-SXS, but for Colorado and Utah, they just don’t seem to make sense (not enough SXS only trails and some towns are banning them). You can take a stock 4WD vehicles through most Colorado trails without issue. Now it TN where there are SXS only off-road areas, I could see myself getting one.
changing all the time though! more and more states keep making them road legal.
I love watching the TFL channels.. I tune in daily! A great name for the new obstacle, I think, Mole Hill
Somebody needed to do this video. The Polaris is ridiculous. Why not take the Jeep so it will also be street legal? I'd go Wrangler every time if these were the only two options. Hell, you could buy a NICE Wrangler Rubicon on the used market and keep $15k in your pocket. These UTVs have just gone too far. And for F sake, the owners manual clearly states to roll forward at 2 MPH when shifting to 4-Low. It's easy peasy as Roman would say if done correctly.
They did the same thing with Tacoma locker, acting like it doesnt engage when, by design, you are supposed to roll forward after pressing the locker button.
Because the SxS can go places that the Jeep can't, due to it being much narrower. If you compare the 2 door Wrangler to the 2 door Polaris, the length difference and wheel base is even more biased towards the SxS, (Wrangler 96.8" wheel base and 166.8" overall length, Polaris 87.5" wheelbase 122.5" overall length.) You can also get the Polaris General which is even shorter with a 83" wheel base and 118.2" overall length.
It would be cool to see some stair step obstacles added to the course with increasing step heights as you go higher.
That new obstacle is a nice addition but I feel it needs a log or something at the crest of it. Every time a vehicle climbs it the angle will be reduced without something solid there. It would also create more of a challenge to have more of a ledge. I'm afraid over time it would just become easier and easier to do as tires and undersides of cars scrape it away and lessen the angle/ crest so it wouldn't be apples to apples comparisons.
How about David’s Dirt Dump for the obstacle.? The engine in the Polaris sounds more like a generator rather than a serious vehicle engine.
They all sound like a generator lol😅
The Polaris looks like a pregnant Roller Skate!
Lol 😂
They ARE pretty ugly.
14:12 Remember, Andre had his sway bars disconnected and running on 35". You can also remove the sway bars on the Xpedition, just not electronically like the Jeep. And with a long travel suspension kit or forward lift kit, you can also run 35" tires on the Xpedition, but not in factory form.
Counter argument, you can put 40s on the Jeep with more lift and gears
You can literally disconnect the sway bars on any vehicle on the planet. The benefit on a rubicon or bronco badlands….you can do it from the drivers seat.
we love watching from Nova Scotia Canada
I’ll take manual levers over electronic switches any day! When my old CJ2a wouldn’t start, easy to shift and roll start. Could run fender deep in water crossing and not worry about electrical issues with servos. Just keep the water below the fuse box and intake!
了解,謝謝分享!
Is it the same volcanic material? Lava Ledge?
The Polaris sounds like a cross between an RC car and a ride-on lawnmower.
I have heard people complain about the noise level inside the ATV. The closed in rear section acts like an echo amplifier chamber and by the end of the day they felt worn out from the sound. They did have helmets on .
How about naming at the pointless pile?
The Polaris makes sense if you are rich and own a ranch and the ranch is huge and it gets super cold in the winter and you are unaware that you can buy a true 4wd Kei Truck for like 15-25kish...
Its interesting seeing your driving, i dont know if this is meant to be funny but... to each their own
I like how he tries to make it look like. It was hard to put it in four wheel drive. Definitely nothing more than an advertisement for polaris.
Nice comparison guys. New obstacle should be called sudden inflation with that steep climb!
Obstacle name:
1) Mole-hill
2) 'Moreau's Mound (after David)
basically solid axles vs independent. solid axles have a LOT of unsprung weight so they suck at hi-speed hits but have better articulation.
I think the bouncing shows the difference between independent Suspension and Solid Axles quite well.
I'd much rather have a cheep Jeep or pickup over the Polaris. The cost for features might be reasonable for an ATV but there's no way I could spend that much on something that can't be driven to the store.
I think if you cover the new obstacle in concrete it would keep it from eroding away and the top being knocked down so fast.
Breakover Hill would be a good name for that little obstacle.
That button he had his finger on is a sway bar disconnect ( electronic ). Im assuming both of you dont off road alot. He can use that to keep both front wheels solid on the ground. The Rubicon model is set to go from the dealership parking lot. Best to use better off road personalities that know what they are doing. I know your pushing the polaris but you shoul be comparion theor equal in UTV.
How about the xpedtion hill
You guys definitely need to learn SXS’s (especially CVT’s) a bit… I would recommend changing that belt before you go on long trips by yourselves… Always be in low range when crawling or anywhere slow enough where the clutch won’t be constantly engaged (approximately 15mph depending on terrain)..
The can am is not a direct competitor to the jeep since it's not highway legal. But...I think it will work for a lot of urban areas.
It's a Polaris.
Ive seem then on highways in montana going 80mph lol
@@sapperROSSand all the passengers hated it! These side by sides are not real competition for real vehicles.
Do they even do crash testing on them?
@Cocky.Rooster yeah they are stupid imo, my nissan frontier is the same size, cheaper and has more utility lol
Id imagine that the Polaris resale value would definitely not hold up anywhere near what a Jeep would.
if your worried about resale your in the wrong world, there both toys that burn money like no tomorrow
My name suggestion for the last obstacle - ‘the up and over’
My x3 done all that in 2wd! Might name that gopher mount tiny pimple!
I reckon you should call the new obstacle the " rib tickler"
Roman's chin should be the name for that obstacle!!
if its not road legal its not a replacement . and it cost the same and u have to have a truck a trailer and a place to store it its really a 100k toy
Since Alex doesn't have moniker on trail & came up in part, I say it should be appropriately called:
Alex's massive(or generous 🤔either or)endowment - no doubt a double entendre😂❤
New obstacle name idea: Roman’s Throne
you should have used the 1500 with the exhiting new metal-belt !!
Name it the cow pie.
How about cow pile for the obstacles name
Mopar’s Mound! Should be the name of the new obstacle!!
Is it legal to drive on highway?
I have a polaris sxs and have a ton of fun with it but unless you like to replace parts frequently wich i don't!! Go with a jeep. 2500 miles and i have changed a-rm bushings 3 times, driveshaft, front diff bearings, wheel bearings.. the list goes on and I'm an old guy that cruises west Virginia trails at 10-15mph .. big waste of money but fun
New obstacle? The Mole Hill!
New Obstacle: "Giddy-Up"
PS: That side-by-side would be worthless in pretty much any sort ot mud.
That obstacle should be named (An)Drew's Dirt Dam(n)! 😂
Name suggestion for the un-named obstacle: Anthill
I grew up riding fourwheelers. Specifically, a 1986 Honda Foretrax 350 4X4. That thing was indestructible. Later on, a Foreman 450. Also a well put together machine. That was really before side by sides gained popularity. I always felt that Honda had better quality than Polaris, especially back then. Which I wish that weren't the case because I am born and raised in MN. I thought that as the years went by, Polaris would've upped their quality a lot, but this machine sounded unrefined. I wouldn't buy this machine for $47K. I'm sure it's great off-road, but I feel that that is way too much money for something that needs refinement. Plus looking around the cabin, I'm just not seeing it. I'd really have to be using it everyday like on a farm or spend quite a lot of time on trails with my family to justify that money.
My initial thought on naming the obstacle - Humpty Hill. But reading through the comments I do like Breakover Berm as well. Also, seeing as how they're naming these obstacles after the guys, I think we need to come up with something clever for Alex.
Name suggestion for the new obstacle: Alex's Apex.
Call the obstacle the "Chin Up"
Omg, who wants to listen to that motor reving to the moon all day. Give me the Jeep.
the obstacle name: the pile or the heap.
What a crazy price for that Polaris. Imaging if the US got Jimnys...... Top spec Jimny Sierra costs $13k in Japan.
The last big obstacle named either “the wall” or “one giant leap”
Chin dirt hill sounds like a good name.
Call that new obstacle THE BART BUMP
I don’t like the expectations of the expedition only because the miles that you put on side-by-side’s or not as effective as actual automobiles you would have to rebuild the engine after 4 to 5000 miles
Not to take anything away from the Polaris, it looks like a fantastic vehicle. But it’s just an off-road vehicle, and unless I can legally registered to drive on the road, I would think for most people at these prices the jeep is a better use of our money. I bought the Polaris I would additionally need a vehicle and a trailer to get it to the off-road site.
Call the obstacle “Mt Blaze”
I will take a geared transmission over a cvt for offroad every time.
I wonder if Mahindra can release a 4 door enclosed version of the Roxor. If they did I think they would blow away both this and new Jeeps.
the polaris is cool. the problem is the polaris cant be licensed for the road in most states. so getting to and from the trail is the hard part
Over the years, you’ve talked a lot about why solid axles are better for off road. And yet, there are no side-by-sides or ATVs that have solid axles front and rear, with only older and less capable models having solid rear axles. Could you do a breakdown at some point on why it is that these purpose-built ORVs do better with independent axles?
Because people now typically value a comfortable ride over off road capabilities.
@@TonyChin226 Maybe?
I’ve ridden an older ATV with a solid rear axle, and several more modern ones with fully independent suspension. The only one I’ve actually rolled was the older one. I wasn’t doing anything particularly aggressive when it happened, and it definitely felt quite a bit tippier just generally.
Independent suspension is better for higher speed stuff. This has always been true. Solid axles are far better for slower speed articulation and durability. Independent suspension is very fragile. Just look at how often Bronco's are breaking front end parts. Where as on a new Wrangler people throw 37's on them and just go wheeling. They can certainly break with abuse. But its been pretty well proven then IFS doesn't hold up. And it is worth noting that side by sides have CVs and a-arms break all the time. Just watch some of the recovery youtube channels. Its a non-stop stream of broken side by sides.
@@Stuka87 shows how aggressively I ride that I’ve never broken anything hard on my machines. 🤣😂
The Polaris reminds me of a $50K electric toy car.
How about, Mound St. Helens
Call the new obstacle bolder shoulder.
Alex's knarley climb
Name suggestion for the new obstacle: "Romans Conundrum"
But remember the utv will have cheaper insurance. No emissions testing and you can take it on more trails depending on what state your in.
That obstacle should be named “Ant Hill”. Or “Ant Mound”
That Jeep is great, no way I could choose that ugly thing... I mean the Polaris. Thanks for the video.
here's my suggestion for the new obstacle - Belly Scratcher
I'd like to see a stock Rubicon slip test.
Did you name the obstacle? Here’s mine. Tommy’s Temper Tantrum Terrace.
How about Olympus Minor.
Just -The final step. It's both figurative and literal.
The new obstacle should be called, "the Speedbump".
The new obstacle name could be Stepchild
Hey what about camel bump or hill for that name
Obstacle name suggestions.
The breakover bump.
Or "the fools errand" Or "grandpas gut"
That Polaris probably has better flex than my Cherokee. It doesn't wind up mattering. 9 times out of 10 it doesn't matter. The Land Rover CEO gave that talk 20 years ago.
I have seen a Polaris outfitted with a mini gun during my days in uniform. Very cool. That said, I think the Jeep is better all around just because I can legally drive it on the road not just off road
First day putting transfer case in low range.
These utv's price ranges are getting way out of hand. Double or triple what they should be
You would be nuts to spend that coin on an off road only rig. You still need a vehicle to bring it to most locations.
You could name the new obstacle Box Jump or High Jump maybe
Names for the new obstacle:
Tumbleweed Step
Stairway to Heaven
Pink Floyd or The Wall
Mountain From a Mole Hill
New obstacle name ideas:
- Alex’s Chin Chiseler 🤷🏼♂️
- Chiseled Chin
- The Chin
- The Chin Chiseler
- The Chin Chopper
- The Chin Chipper
- The Chipped Chin
- Alex’s Chipped Chin
- …you get the idea
“It’s at my chin basically” as Alex pointed out at 7:38 and will cut into the chin of many a vehicle that approach it head on.
Thanks for the fun video!
The step up.
I’ll take the Jeep!
I did not think the Polaris would outrun the jeep 🤯
If I was for sure doing 40% or more of my time off roading, I would buy a high end SXS like the Xpedition and a good used truck to pull the SXS. I’ve owned a heavily modified XJ for over 13 years and I would rather have a dedicated rig for play. Xpedition would be awesome, but I would not want a first year of production and when I did buy one it would be used and heavily modified by me or previous owner. LOL
Jeeps are amazing fun, luv me sum off road adventuring!
The Bell scratcher.
