thank you, i appreciate your understanding and support. and, yes, moby did get a new set of 40" nitto mud grapplers just before the 2012 JK Experience.
Sad to see but thanks for the update. Just noticed the new tires too - welcome to the mud grappler club. Been running them for a few years on my LJ, couldn't be happier with them.
Hey just another one who has been browsing through your videos. I have a xj from NY but absolutely love the videos you have put up. Definitely makes me want to take a trip west see whats out there. Keep it up.
it is but, try to remember that we are running 40's on evo coil overs. while there are super easy ways through it now, there are lines that would give a set of 35's and maybe even a set of 37's a real challenge. it's just not buggie terrain anymore.
it was easy for us but, we are sitting on a set of 40" nitto mud grapplers and evo coil overs. looking at it for what it is, there are still lines where a set of 37's on a basic 4" lift would have to work at getting through it.
More from the El Dorado County BOS - "The clean up and abatement order (CAO) issued by the Central Valley Regional Water Quality Control Board April 23, 2009 cited concerns regarding the contamination in the area and required it be re-mediated." Probably the biggest reason why right here.
The biggest reason is probably this: "More from the El Dorado County BOS - "The clean up and abatement order (CAO) issued by the Central Valley Regional Water Quality Control Board April 23, 2009 cited concerns regarding the contamination in the area and required it be re-mediated." - El Dorado County BOS
storage space is a big part of why we went with a 4-door... actually, we own 2 of them and one 2-door but, built right, a 4-door will dominate a 2-door.
While it is unfortunate that they blasted and broke everything up, there was a good reason for it. Rigs kept getting severely damaged, rolling over, and as a result countless gallons of oil and other fluids were spilling on the ground in that section. That section happens to get a TON of water runoff that drains into a pond about 150yds or so down the hill, then down into the river below from there. It was becoming very polluted. Sucks they had to do this but I'd rather this option than closing the trail completely. Happy trails!
Yep that’s unfortunate but better than closing it. It live a drive away from the old Tellico trails in NC Course everyone knows their closed so at least it didn’t get to that point!
In 2000 it was tough to get through, but not impossible for a built street rig. Then people pulled rocks down, making it passable only for purpose-built buggies or big trucks/Jeeps. Yes, now it is much easier, but maybe tougher than earlier years.
it was my understanding that the new bypass that was established in 2003 goes through private property and will be closed. comming up and around the slab is still okay.
From the El Dorado County BOS - "Usage in that area has created many problems that have had bad effects on the environment. Efforts to resolve those effects have included an effort to close the whole trail. Efforts to educate users and to resolve the problem appear not to have been successful as the problems persist."
off road, there's no question that the nitto mud grapplers are better. for all around use, the toyo's are much more street friendly. but, they are really good off road too.
I I totally saw you yesterday! I was that crazy guy in the green jeep on the 5. Man your jeep looks even more awesome in real life. Wish mine could look like that unfortunately I don't got the money.
they are just factory fenders that have been trimmed. you really don't want metal ones as they WILL do body damage if hit - trust me, i have seen it happen time and time again.
atx makes spyderlock wheels - yes, they are the same, only without the rings that get hung up in rocks and trees and throw off your balance after they get bent.
Im going to be moving out to river side ca here soon gunna buy a new jeep n send it to offroad eveolution would love to be able to join yall once i move out there n get the jeep done
do you like your nittos better than your toyos? What about your nitto trail grapplers on the orange jk? I am thinking about some trail grapplers for my jeep.
hey man i have a question for you guys reguarding your expertise in tires..(not nessesarily envolving the video)...i am lookin on buying some new 31x10.5x15s for my jeep cherokee and i am thinkin bout gettin either the bfg mt km2s or the kumho road venture mts which one wouldyou prefer in that size for a both dayly driver and offroader???
you aren't too far from the truth. while everyone is upset about this, there've been a lot more modifications done to the rubicon over the last 5 years than i would have preferred
there is at least one line that i think a good driver could make up in a stock JK with 31's... for now anyway. the rocks were fresh and still moving around. could be easier by next summer or it could be a lot harder.
Where does that put your RPMs for street driving? I've never run such a big tire so im not sure if thats a good middle ground ratio, or more offroad orientated since they are more or less purpose built machines.
You know what, im glad they broke it up rather than shut the whole Rubicon down. Their reasons are clear. the fact that the little sluice was built illegally doesnt help it's case. Lets hope people get the hint from this and respect the land better to prevent more modifications and closures!
Now it just looks too easy. I had to winch out of little sluice on my last trip. It is just a sad state of affairs when u fix something that wasn't broken. Hey do u think they are gonna close the other two bypasses around little sluice?
What is the powerplant in this rig? At one point I was convinced that it was an electric engine! I can hear the rocks crcking, but barely hear a motor... is it becasue it's just not working very hard?
Kinda sucks that they did that, but really cool that you show respect, love and care for the trails especially, and the sport. also did Moby get new tires, still 40's??
you'll forgive me but, i don't recall ever saying anything about El Dorado County having "ruined it" for me. but, you can choose to hear whatever it is you want to hear and self-righteously pass judgement on me.
What kind of stinger is that. Also what suspension are you running. I've seen all of your videos and that flex is ridiculous. And last but not least, do you have any good exhaust suggestions that are both clean sounding and add power? Love your videos man
I see the pros and the cons...but i actually kinda like that they did it...not everyone can run huge tires and have all the supporting mods to make sure they dont break something with huge tires.
Why did they "Crack up" and "Fill in" too much liability? I know (and remember) that part of the trail (and many other parts for that matter) was starting to resemble a "Junk Yard" of broken auto parts as I could spot "U-Joint" pieces all over the place... Was too many whom were "Too Unprepared", "Too Ambitious"? maybe Lawsuits? - A Former Runner of this trail, - 85 Toy 4x4.
I changed my chevy for a jeep jk 4 doors when I saw what you do with your trucks and I want to take part in your trail but there are just complications, it is that I am of Quebec in Canada. But I attentively look you on TH-cam and in your Project-JK website
While I can kind of see their reasoning for doing this, it is a bummer. Although at the same time it is closer to how it was before they dropped the big boulders in there.
ummm, there was no music in this video. as for our others, if you don't like it, you had better find yourself a different channel. including music is something we enjoy and i can promise you we will continue to use it in the future.
i like the noise the rocks make. makes me all happy inside
In my mind, the little sluice (before and after) will be preserved for ever through your great videos. Thanks Eddie and Cindy for making this video.
I love your videos but this is the first one that ever made me want to shed a tear! R.I.P. Little Sluice.
thank you, i appreciate your understanding and support. and, yes, moby did get a new set of 40" nitto mud grapplers just before the 2012 JK Experience.
this is an EVO MFG stinger. we run an EVO double throwdown coil over system with EVO lever. we also run a Dynomax exhaust.
Sad to see but thanks for the update. Just noticed the new tires too - welcome to the mud grappler club. Been running them for a few years on my LJ, couldn't be happier with them.

surprisingly, we get about 12-13 mpg on the highway if we drive conservatively but, typically average about 10 mpg... less depending on where we are.

Talk about technical. Can't wait to bring my TJ out west!
Preston Thompson Out of town jeepers are the ones who ruin all our local trails. Stay back east or go to moab.
it depends on who you talk to but, the official word boils down to it being done in an effort to keep the trail as a whole open.
storage space is a big part of why we went with a 4-door... actually, we own 2 of them and one 2-door but, built right, a 4-door will dominate a 2-door.
Awesome 👍 trail that is truly beautiful. Nicely navigated your way through.
Glad you enjoyed watching our video :)

I cant say I ever really liked the look of Nitto mud grapplers... until I saw them on your rig. :)
the video's are amazing. i can not wait for the next one
Now it's called the gayicon trail
it was my understanding that the new bypass that was established in 2003 goes through private property and will be closed. comming up and around the slab is still okay.
from what i'm told, the bypass crossed over private property. but, that was just one of many reasons they did this.
From the El Dorado County BOS - "Usage in that area has created many problems that have had bad effects on the environment. off road, there's no question that the nitto mud grapplers are better. for all around use, the toyo's are much more street friendly. but, they are really good off road too.
depends on the trail. most of the time, 35's, rocker guards, tow points front and rear and an eagerness to have a good time.
I I totally saw you yesterday! I was that crazy guy in the green jeep on the 5. Man your jeep looks even more awesome in real life. Wish mine could look like that unfortunately I don't got the money.
depends on who you talk to but, apparently, the county had their reasons and they say it was done in an effort to keep the trail as a whole open.
they are just factory fenders that have been trimmed. you really don't want metal ones as they WILL do body damage if hit - trust me, i have seen it happen time and time again.
atx makes spyderlock wheels - yes, they are the same, only without the rings that get hung up in rocks and trees and throw off your balance after they get bent.
There are paved roads just miles away...why pave this one too?
we talked to a couple of old timers out there and they say it's still way harder now than it was before 1994
Moby is such a beautiful monster.
You're looking at 40x15.50 Nitto Mud Grapplers on 20" ATX Slabs
yes it does.
Ill be rocking the stinger in less than a week b/c of your jeep! Waiting on a new video!!
it was really sad
at the time, we were running about 10 psi
Im going to be moving out to river side ca here soon gunna buy a new jeep n send it to offroad eveolution would love to be able to join yall once i move out there n get the jeep done
i hear ya
do you like your nittos better than your toyos? What about your nitto trail grapplers on the orange jk? I am thinking about some trail grapplers for my jeep.
So quick question.. what kind of fenders are those, ive been looking for ones like that and i cant seem to find the thin metal ones like that
Im sure its easier than it used to be but man your Jeep made it look like most of us driving through the mall carpark lol
Hey there, awesome jeep. What motor work has been done? or still stock V6?
Thanks
hey man i have a question for you guys reguarding your expertise in tires..(not nessesarily envolving the video)...i am lookin on buying some new 31x10.5x15s for my jeep cherokee and i am thinkin bout gettin either the bfg mt km2s or the kumho road venture mts which one wouldyou prefer in that size for a both dayly driver and offroader???
Do you think they made it too easy? It looked like a quiet Sunday drive through the park. Made it look easy.
it really is
you aren't too far from the truth. while everyone is upset about this, there've been a lot more modifications done to the rubicon over the last 5 years than i would have preferred
hey eddie, do you keep an air compressor on board for the drive home or something? what do you use?
there is at least one line that i think a good driver could make up in a stock JK with 31's... for now anyway. the rocks were fresh and still moving around. could be easier by next summer or it could be a lot harder.
I plan on buying most likley a automatic, bc stick isnt my thing... could an auto still handle all that?
truth be told, yes, it would be.
Where does that put your RPMs for street driving? I've never run such a big tire so im not sure if thats a good middle ground ratio, or more offroad orientated since they are more or less purpose built machines.
Seth he's running a ORE double Throwdown coilover lift...it's adjustable....I'd say between 4-6"
You know what, im glad they broke it up rather than shut the whole Rubicon down. Their reasons are clear. the fact that the little sluice was built illegally doesnt help it's case. Lets hope people get the hint from this and respect the land better to prevent more modifications and closures!

hey I was wondering why did you go with a 4 door instead of a two door other than storage space?
If you havent seen the little sluice before it was filled in, there is a video of it on my channel. I was 14 when i made it through.
So was it easyier after they filled it in?
how did you cut those? also what happened to your spyderlock rims? can I have them?
wich pressure are you running on those tires it seems pretty low
What is the powerplant in this rig? At one point I was convinced that it was an electric engine! I can hear the rocks crcking, but barely hear a motor... is it becasue it's just not working very hard?
Hi Eddie, between the toyos and Nittos witch one do you like most?
LOL!! in all fairness, it's still a challenge but, with 40's and coil overs, yeah, it's just a walk in the park.
Kinda sucks that they did that, but really cool that you show respect, love and care for the trails especially, and the sport. also did Moby get new tires, still 40's??
5.38
you'll forgive me but, i don't recall ever saying anything about El Dorado County having "ruined it" for me. but, you can choose to hear whatever it is you want to hear and self-righteously pass judgement on me.
this made me want to cry. I will never get a chance to run it now. Wonder why they decided to make it easy sense there was already a bypass
What kind of stinger is that. Also what suspension are you running. I've seen all of your videos and that flex is ridiculous. And last but not least, do you have any good exhaust suggestions that are both clean sounding and add power? Love your videos man
This is probably been asked, but why did they break up the rocks?
What are the requirements to join yall wheeling
What's the gear ratio?
I see the pros and the cons...but i actually kinda like that they did it...not everyone can run huge tires and have all the supporting mods to make sure they dont break something with huge tires.
still the stock 3.8L v6
wow way different why did they do that to little sluice?
Hey Eddie, what psi did you have in those Nittos?
Why did they "Crack up" and "Fill in" too much liability? I know (and remember) that part of the trail (and many other parts for that matter) was starting to resemble a "Junk Yard" of broken auto parts as I could spot "U-Joint" pieces all over the place... Was too many whom were "Too Unprepared", "Too Ambitious"? maybe Lawsuits? - A Former Runner of this trail, - 85 Toy 4x4.
What kind of rims do u have on this jk?
what engine do u got in that jk ?? 3.8?
Of the 2, I would go with the BFG's.
Is that a custom tire carrier? I need something to carry my 37" spare
yup, just a factory 3.8
What tires are you running on that white Nitto JK wrangler?
think an xj on 3'' and 32in tires can make it?
So they are the same rims?
Yay more videos
LOL!! it is a little different even for us.
Hi What kind of steering stabilizer did you use
I changed my chevy for a jeep jk 4 doors when I saw what you do with your trucks and I want to take part in your trail but there are just complications, it is that I am of Quebec in Canada. But I attentively look you on TH-cam and in your Project-JK website
hai friend , which camera are u using for filming these
taking it all the way to the right, yes. going to the left, no.
What fender flares are on this jeep?
just a basic sony hd cam that we got at costco
but youll still have a blast, right?
What rims are you running there?
it is sad but, apparently they had their reasons.
While I can kind of see their reasoning for doing this, it is a bummer. Although at the same time it is closer to how it was before they dropped the big boulders in there.
I wonder if my stock JKUR could make that now? You should take the fiat renegage on it now.
+Chad Jones A JKUR with 35's will struggle to get through it.
None. We have a PSC ram assist.
ummm, there was no music in this video. as for our others, if you don't like it, you had better find yourself a different channel. including music is something we enjoy and i can promise you we will continue to use it in the future.
off roading with an auto is sooooo much easier than stick. so much so that when we wheel our other jk with one, we call it cheating. :)
